Went and got a free COVID test offered…

Went and got a free COVID test offered through Maricopa county-next thing I know Sonora Quest is trying to bill me for the test even though the testing center told me it was free. Now they have sent it to collections even after calling the county who told me I should not have been charged. Talked with supervisor in their California office who was supposed to get it corrected and never heard back from her. Will avoid using this company at all costs

Rudest receptionist ever

Rudest receptionist ever. Dropping off a sample for my son that had to work. Because I didn’t know I needed to check in on a stupid Kiosk they threw the sample away. They refused to be helpful in any way! Kiosks are doing the work for the receptionist. Worked in an office for years. Would never treat a customer the way I was treated. I’m 75 years old with a broken wrist. So rude! I will never use Casa Grande Sonoran Quest ever !

Rude Receptionist and Overcharging

I went for routine physician ordered lab work on E. Brown, Mesa. I was given a form which I was told I had to sign that stated if the Vitamin D portion of the test was not covered, or if it was not covered by my insurance, I would be billed $150. I questioned this and requested my lab orders back so I could go outside and call my insurance company. I was not given the lab orders back, but went outside and called my insurance company anyway. Without the diagnostic codes, they could only give me general coverage information which was the test was not paid for if it was a screening test without medical necessity...which I believed it would be, but Sonora Quest was not going to bill that part of the test because they said the doctor did not provide a code justifying the test.

The phlebotomist was very nice to me and said when I came back in to just come back up to the counter and he'd take me right back. He had already asked someone at the counter what to do to help me, but he came back and said I had to sign the form. I told him I couldn't take the chance in paying $150 because I could not afford it.

Anyway, I came back in and stopped at the counter. "Andrea" (on-dre-uh) ignored me, never looked up at me
and eventually commanded me to take a seat. I said I had a question, she commanded me again to take a seat. I said you don't know my name. She still did not look at me, but stated "You're the only one on "Pause" on the screen. I told her she was being rude, she still did not look at me and said nothing. I sat down and a few minutes later another staff member called me up. I asked my question, which was if I could add the Vitamin D test as a self-pay patient and how much was it. I was allowed to do this, the cost was $47. By this time, Andrea had left the reception area and had not returned by the time I was finished with my blood draw.

Four concerns:
1. Trying to force me to sign the promissory note for $150 before lab work would be done. They were not even going to bill my insurance for the Vitamin D test, which meant, per my insurance customer service rep, that I could not appeal the coverage denial if they did not pay for it.
2. Trying to force me to sign a responsibility bill for a much higher price than a self-pay patient pays. $150 versus $47 self-pay.
3. Now, I am out $47 because they would not work with me in contacting my physician for clarification; would not give me my lab orders back with the diagnostic codes to give my insurance rep when I called them, or to just leave if I needed to. I believe they mishandled me, and should refund my $47.
4. I believe Andrea was the person that Timothy spoke with when I did not want to sign the promissory note, and that she made a judgement against me that was then reflected in her rude behavior toward me. Why would I sign for something when I cannot afford to pay it. I am recently retired with a limited income.

I have no complaint against the phlebotomist, Timothy, as he was doing what he was told to do.

front desk surprised i ordered test online

The people at the front desk are surprised someone ordered a test without a doctor's note. And they cant find my name or the test i ordered online. So, i had to go back home without a test. I had prepaid but the website refunded me a month later. Front desk should aware not all patients have doctors notes. (9th st. mcdowell )

I had a horrible experience at Sonora…

I had a horrible experience at Sonora quest lab. Rude staff at front desk (thunderbird) when I got back, even after mentioning various debilitating health conditions and recent stroke gal talked about how it was "just stupid" to have insurance and how she doesn't. Come tell me about it when you get past 20 and health catches up to you. She actually followed the needle hole in the center of the bruise from a lab drawn not an hour before, even I know better and of course, no luck on blood so... Second person did even worse, she began to repeatedly siphon pumping the blood from a small vein in my hand, filling a vial with bloody foam but all foam. This hurt so bad, especially with the vasculitis I told them about repeatedly, at this point I was dry heaving and light headed. I told her what she was doing wasn't right and she needed to stop, she tried to blame me for not drinking enough water, except I am a medical patient with chronic, debilitating health conditions, I am well aware and do drink plenty of water before hand and all day. Because of my health conditions I know to drink water and I have to all the time. I resent being questioned and treated like a child when I know my body and she obviously had NO CLUE in what she was doing.
2 unprofessional phlebotomists,
7 jabs and 1 horrendous blood letting siphoning ritual, 6 vials of blood and a UA never made it to the lab to be tested.

I few days later I had to do a re-draw at another quest lab. They managed to get the lab successfully (no issue at all there) but when I went to do the UA the tech came in and was surprised to see the seven cups of pee just stacking up so without gloves he scooped them all up (very glad he didn't drop any!) and took them away telling me to leave mine there when done for whenever it eventually got collected. These draw sites are not only very damaging for a patient but certainly in the reliability of getting a good, safe, uncontaminated sample.

Would give Negative rating!

Sonora Quest has not taken enough blood and improperly stored a sample for transport on multiple occasions requiring me to go back and be stuck again. On top of that, they have then double billed my insurance for their collection error, which led to my insurance denying the claim and Sonora Quest looking to me to pay out of pocket or spend more than 20 hours with them and my insurance to clean up their mistakes!
