Very useless company to work for

Very useless company to work for. Small family of managers that are related or in a friend circle. If one doesn’t like you either because you are brown, loud, or whatever reason, you are done. While one of them can be a drug addict and scratching her cro../fanny in meetings and they laugh at it and say it behind her back. The place is a joke. A big joke. They date each other and that makes some people untouchable that works there. This company is a joke. Some of the staff are absolutely lush but there’s a limit to what you can take from POWERFUL BULLIES . BE CAREFUL.

The absolute worst.

The absolute worst.

Responsible for vetting / background checks for a new role. Random no-reply updates saying checks are 'ongoing' with no idea on timescales. Their live chat is beyond useless, with hour long waits and if you call they just essentially tell you to wait.

My new role is due to start in three weeks. They will have had ten weeks to complete these checks. There is a very real possibility that I will be unemployed if they aren't back in time. My call to tell them this, ended with a "well, best of luck with that bud".

I just don't understand why the government uses this atrocious company for anything.

This company a fraud

This company a fraud. While I was paying for my British Citizenship, it included payments for the biometric scans. In fact, when I was trying to book an appointment in SopraSperia system, there were never any slots available for prepaid appointments. I had to pay £80 for a premium appointment, and they call prepaid appointments FREE - they are not FREE, that are prepaid. So because of this you are forced to pay. This is an utter scam. It has been reported so many times in British News Papers and no one has done anything about it. They exist to rob governments and people. Such a horrible leech, and no one seems to care. If someone wants to find out more, just type 'Sopra Steria controversy' into Google and you will be flooded with fraud claims against them.

Wouldn't ever want to deal with them again

I had to deal with this company as part of a lengthy outsourced government recruitment process, for a role I was really motivated and enthusiastic to take up. I eventually received an offer of a start date from them, but they were so unfriendly, unprofessional, and generally incompetent during the whole process that it was surprisingly easy to decline their offer and go with another opportunity that had arisen in the meantime. When I think about it all, I am actually quite shocked how things turned out in the end.

Sopra Steria is a private French…

Sopra Steria is a private French company paid by the UK Government to handle vetting and recruitment checks — yet they behave as if they answer to no one. Once they label a case “unsatisfactory,” there’s no explanation, no feedback, and no response to appeals. Emails vanish into silence.

This company holds people’s careers and livelihoods in its hands, but operates with zero transparency or human sense. The process feels robotic, defensive, and completely detached from the reality that every “case number” is a person waiting for their future.

The UK Government should seriously reconsider outsourcing such sensitive decisions to a company that shows this little accountability or respect for applicants.

The worst company ever.

Not sure where this company is actually based. But the worst IT helpdesk company I have ever had to deal with in my life.
No personal service at all.
No recommendations to fix a problem.
constantly close tickets out that are not resolved.

Abysmal provider of recruitment services to UK public sector

I have had a deeply frustrating experience with Sopra Steria, who manage recruitment services for UK public sector organisations like the DWP, the Met, etc. Communication has been poor throughout—my messages regarding job roles were frequently delayed or even ignored, and as a result, a provisional offer was ultimately withdrawn.

In another instance, I was invited to book an interview for a different role and organisation, only to be told afterward that the invitation was sent in error and the interview I had already booked was cancelled. These repeated issues reflect a lack of organisation and reliability in Sopra Steria’s recruitment process on behalf of the UK public sector, which can have the potential serious consequences for applicants’ job prospects.

Time wasters

Time wasters, interviewed for this company which I had to travel for 55 miles for but it did go very well and I was told this, only to be told a week later that they now felt the job was more of a junior roll employment and they were having a re-think. Well that's super for you Sopra you had all my details next time read the CV and don't waste peoples time Carolyne

Worst company to work for as a contractor

SopraSteria bought the company I was doing contractor work for and our relationship has completely soured. 0 empathy from them, so 0 empathy from me. They have ridiculous deadlines for submitting timesheets of the current month by the middle of that month in their internal tools that have not been updated since the 2000's and require 15-minute video tutorials not to make mistakes. They will chase your managers and harass you by any channel possible (mail, mobile messaging, phone) to get to their goal (money).

Anyone there?

Tried to call to ask a few more questions about my application as trainee probation officer and to submit further information. The person on the phone sounded like she was utterly incompetent, breathing loud and heavy and then just went completely silent. I had to ask three times if anyone is still there before I just hung up. Utterly incompetent

Rip off, racist, this is what your tax and application fee pays for.

I have had over 3 engagements with this company over the last few years, and the rare good customer experiences from individual staff members remind you of how crap the rest of the experience is.

The chat function keeps dropping messages so the agent can see them but you can't, mid-chat!

I have had a photo where my eyes were closed being used for my BRP, despite the agent clearly being able to see the difference between my eyes being open and closed are like in person. Me being east Asian doesn't warrant sh*ttty racist treatment based on stereotypes.

Also the appointments are ridiculously expensive. Why on earth is this even out-sourced?

Abysmal

Abysmal. They have blatantly stolen my money and quite literally refuse to return it. The "help" on the website is useless, the chat bots are equally so and there is not one number to call. I am astonished that they are trusted.

These guys do not even deserve a single…

These guys do not even deserve a single star service. WOW! I mean how bad does it get especially when you’ve had to pay £139.00 for an appointment only to get turned away. The attitude of staff are totally unacceptable. The online service is even worse! There is no contact number to speak with a human. The online webchat is nothing but useless. I feel sorry for people that have to use this organisation.

If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars I would. I'm sorry that anyone has to use these guys for things that the UK government should be providing free of charge. In fact the government tells us it's free. The problem is if you want to book a free slot, you have to sign in at 9am because those slots go quickly, the agents tell us. After that, they've only got paid slots. The whole thing seems geared to get people to give up in desperation.
The website is bad, and often the online chat service that's there to provide support times out with no way to get back to your previous conversation. Getting a response takes days. I could go on, but by now assume you've probably hit a wall too. Awful!

Horrible experience

Horrible experience. They try to make us feel fear of missing something and try to upsell for them to “scan” or “check” the documents for around £40 each. Absolutely ridiculous. My appointment was at Stratford Library for 9:00. Elizabeth line stopped for minutes and I arrived at 9:13. They refused to attend me. The whole place was completely empty. All the chairs in the waiting room and on the attending desks without anyone. The lady lied that they were already “getting ready” for the 9:30 appointments. In my next appointment (which I was informed that I needed to pay again), I arrived on time, and in 9 minutes I was leaving the building with everything done (from 9:13 to 9:30 they had plenty of time in the previous appointment).
They try in every way they can to receive more money as they can for an appointment and overprice their services. AVOID the lazy people from Stratford Library at all costs!!!
Payed £139 for a face photo and to scan my fingers in less than 8 minutes (in 9 minutes I was outside the building). As we are foreigners and need the service, they overprice this simple and quick service that does not worth more than £20 if we had options.
