Having stayed at South Farm several times under the excellent previous managers, we didn't know what to expect on our first visit with the new manager Justin running the show.
We had no reason to be nervous, from the moment we arrived we were made welcome and continually asked if everything was ok throughout our stay. The weather was just like summer , we could even use the outdoor pool which was a bonus! Lots to do for the family- walks tennis badminton and 2 good fishing lakes. Home lake is more of a challenge than Ram Lake but we were rewarded with some good catches. If the fishing gets too tough for your liking then just wander up to Ram which is more alike a commercial match fishery, lots of small and medium carp.

Just returned from another great stay at south farm. A warm welcome from Justin on arrival, he was there for whatever we needed throughout the week.The fishing was brilliant plenty of carp out of ram lake and an added bonus of beautiful weather. Couldn’t ask for more. Thank you Justin, we will be back soon.

Party of 10 friends staying at the Farmhouse. Beautiful location, and immaculately clean house. Justin was so kind leaving balloons chocolate and fizz to help us celebrate a big birthday.

We enjoyed the time relaxing in such a beautiful place and will be returning.

A Superb Weekend Away at South Farm

I had the most wonderful weekend at South Farm to celebrate my 50th birthday, and it truly exceeded all expectations. From the moment we arrived, the thoughtful finishing touches—biscuits, balloons, flowers, and chocolates—made it feel so special and personal.

The setting itself is absolutely beautiful, with stunning surroundings and plenty to explore. Whether you’re looking to relax or take in the picturesque scenery, South Farm has everything you could possibly need for a perfect getaway.

A special mention to Justin, who was incredibly helpful and kind throughout our stay, making sure everything was just right. His warm hospitality added to the overall experience, making it even more memorable.

I couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate such a milestone, and I’d highly recommend South Farm to anyone looking for a magical escape. I’ll definitely be back!

We stayed here as a short term rent over the winter. It's located in a stunning place, super dog friendly and the site manager, Justin, was incredible, always there to help out. The views were spectacular and holiday facilities looked amazing. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful get away in nature.

Lovely time spent in the Farm House, at South Farm. We were two families staying over the New Year Break. Fantastic location, lovely house and Justin was a great and attentive host. We caught plenty of fish, made good use of the hot tub, games barn and trampoline too! There was plenty of space in the house and with the fire and Aga it was very cosy. Hoping to return in the summertime!

This is the second time that we have stayed at 'The Stables' at South Farm. We have found a little piece of heaven at South Farm with wonderful surroundings and a comfortable and well stocked home from home! Justin, the manager, is an excellent host and always goes out of his way to ensure that we have everything that we need. Thank you as always, we will be returning again very soon!!

We arrived to snow for our third trip this year .
And our welcome was fantastic as usual.
Then storm Burt was on us .
Fishing was slow but we tried and failed lol .
Undeterred we tried again and failed.
The back up plan came in good use visiting lots of the local inns
Good times and more memorys made.

We loved the location of the farmhouse, beautiful and so quiet. But the roads all the way around the area are awful, very narrow which is okay but there’s so many potholes, you have to be very careful driving.
The farmhouse is very old and quirky, the grandchildren had such fun playing hide & seek. Being an old building there is always something that needs doing and the manager Justin has a good list of things that need doing to the house. I would say that the company needs to not advertise the AGA in the dining room, we were very excited at the prospect of using it as we have had one in a previous home of ours, but we were only told on arrival that it is too expensive to run and you need to pay extra, at no point in booking did it mention paying extra to use the AGA!
The hot tub is glorious and the children loved the barn play area and the outdoor playground, the swimming pool sits in a beautiful position overlooking glorious countryside, but out of use because of the time of year, but in the summer months it must be a wonderful place to spend time.
We had a very special and wonderful holiday at South Farm and would love to go again.
Justin the manager is amazing and such a kind and helpful man, thank you for all your help and support during our stay.

Cottage and views stunning

Pippa and Justin perfect hosts thinking of tiny details in cottage and on arrival adding to a warm welcome
However I feel like many other fishing holiday venues the emphasis is on large carp too much I fish mainly on pole and caught a 15.4 carp but felt there is not enough 1-5 lb fish to be caught I am an experienced angler and feel capable of catching in all scenarios but I felt disappointed with the roach skimmer and bigger bream tench Rudd crucian carp quantity that I feel should have shown up at some point commercial fishing is quite easy I find but was left a bit disappointed with my results . Would I return for the cottage views days out then yes for the fishing I would have to take a long hard think about it .

The accommodation is fine but nor suitable for those who cannot get in a bath to shower. The situation is beautiful and if you just want to fish idyllic. However, it is isolated and approached by very narrow roads, some of which are single track with passing places.

We had a great weekend at South Farm. Brilliant accommodation, beautiful surroundings and fantastic fishing. Justin and Pippa were great hosts with Justin offering lots useful advice towards the fishing. Looking forward to returning next year.
