Spartan Mosquito knows its tubes don't work
I purchased boxes of the Spartan Mosquito Eradicator (water, yeast, sugar, table salt) and the Spartan Mosquito Pro Tech (water, yeast, sugar, boric acid) and tested them in my yard to see whether either of them had the stated ability of attracting and killing mosquitoes. I found zero mosquitoes inside the tubes placed around my yard during peak mosquito season. I even used a security camera to confirm this: no mosquitoes were attracted. Moreover, the tubes killed other insects and in some cases contained larvae that were very much alive. After doing some research, it seems that even the company itself has always been fully aware that both versions fail to emit enough CO2 to attract mosquitoes. So not only do the devices not work, the company continues to market them to the public. I encourage consumers to report the company to both state and federal pesticide regulators. I don't understand why the company is even in business after the class-action lawsuit — it agreed to stop selling the scam at the end of 2025.
