Product details

We’ve captured the performances of four of the most interesting and progressive string soloists in London to give you an accessible tool for detailed composition work. Featuring Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass, it features spirited longs and shorts, as well as a series of more unconventional articulations. Alternative Solo Strings offers you an instant, out-of-the-box collaborative experience, steeped in character.

Great samples, but they really don’t integrate well with Finale and Logic like the BBC Symphony samples do. You have to go through Kontakt and articulations and playing techniques are a real hassle.

As usual, library on its own is a bit different from what you hear in demo. I would like Spitfire to give an option for trial (or if I missed it?). However, it has some interesting beneficial sounds.

very unique sounds. Love them. I produce mostly Indie & Singer/Songwriter and I think it perfectly fits there

This is a very comprehensive library brilliantly recorded so take your time and explore all the various included techniques and you won’t be disappointed. The alternative longs are inspirational. Excellent library.

Great library, adds that extra bit of sensual language to the sketching process. I use this with solo and studio strings.

Great companion to Solo Strings. Intimate, and at times, deliciously quirky!

I expected a lot from this library. It delivered even more!

Sounds great, could use a bit more control over the legato. Inspiring sounds, looking forward to using it more.

These sounds are evocative and beautifully recorded. I genuinely love them, and I mean LOVE. I have two comments that explain 4 stars over 5 stars. Firstly, there is no good legato performance patch for any of the instruments. The cello and violin have a performance patch but the legato is very noticeably unrealistic. Secondly, the different mic faders are not different from one another, which is in contrast to other Spitfire libraries where the different mic positions can wonderfully alter the character of the sound. All this being said, Alternative Solo Strings is great. On a personal note, as a teenager back in the early 1990s I attended the Vancouver Academy of Music in Vancouver, Canada, and one of my peers there was Warren Zielinski, the violinist on this sample library. What an oddly resonant coincidence!

A great addition to my strings articulations, and a perfect complement to Chamber Strings and Sacconi.

I love this product, very useful to compose and listen the real sound.

This is another wonderful library from Spitfire. So easily played and each patch provides inspiration in large amounts.

I would recommend buying this if you already have a solid set of libraries for solo strings and have some extra money. I bought this on sale but still felt overpriced. An example of Spitfire's marketing being way better than the actual product on this one. Just honestly doesn't sound that great, and the viola is neglected. I will probably use this two or three times a year for purely background color effects instead of a main featured library.

Lovely! Great and inspiring sounds. One of the most fun and useful Libraries. Would love an update with legato performance patches for viola and contrabass.

The most useful solo strings library I have. "Alternative long" and "performance legato" articulations is the best for my filmscore and electronic music productions. Really great and autentic sound :)

Samples are high quality and potentially useful, but the documentation is simply appalling! If you work with notation software (Sibelius, Dorico etc) you will need a magic wand to work out how to use this as a VST.

very nice sounds, especially the "Alternatives" that I will need time to master. Not at all disappointed with my purchase which is my first at Spitfire audio.
