This is an exceptionally high-quality sound library. If you plan to use it alongside other products, be aware that it has some unique quirks when it comes to tuning. Also, be aware that using a large number of Spitfire’s proprietary VSTi plugins simultaneously can cause your PC to become unstable. However, even when considering all of these drawbacks, I believe this product is more than worth the purchase.
These instruments sound incredible!! User interface is straight forward and easy to use whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro.
BBC Symphony Orchestra Professional is one of the most inspiring orchestral libraries I’ve ever used. The realism, depth, and emotional expression are outstanding, and the orchestra feels incredibly cohesive and natural. The softer dynamics are especially beautiful. Absolutely exceptional work by Spitfire Audio!
Amazing Library really worth it!
Brilliant. Moving from core to pro is simple as the workflow stays the same, just access to more and more versatile so as to fit different kinds of projects, some of which benefit from having access to the dryer signals. Beautiful players.
Versatile and intuitive. There's a lot of options to be had here. A truly professional suite here made complete with the piano add on. Mind blowing features. Great value and highly recommended.
BBCSO Pro is a very versatile and responsive library with excellent sound quality. It has some of the best sounding orchestral instruments that I've got in my extensive arsenal. Well done guys!!
Simply the best library if you are serious in writing for the symphony orchestra.
I love the BBC SO. I remember my initial start with the Discovery, then spending 2024 with the Core, and this summer I upgraded to the Professional package. I have to say that I still don't see advantages in the different mics, but the leaders instruments are incredible. They're unmatched by any other. The cellos and viola in particular are extraordinary.

It sounds amazing. The library is full of great sounds, tons of mic positions and an even greater amount of articulations. There aren’t many libraries that can compete with this one. Just like every other SF library, you use the same techniques (fade in and out mod wheel for dynamics, use lower octave keys to swap articulations) to create some very realistic, highly dynamic audio.
Quality worth paying for. Perfect articulations and microphone positions. Two things bother me: – Longer loading times in Logic Pro 11 – Phasing (correlation) issues
I like much this library, which offer a nice and realistic sound for the music that I like ; it has with many instruments, articulations and mic Positions... but I feel very bad when I play violins and viola leaders (particularly with the legato) : they sound horrible, unstable and unrealistic. I can't understand that a library costing near 1000 euros offer so bad leaders (except the cello leader, which sounds beautiful in slow pieces). @Spitfire Audio, you should do something, give it an update !
It is totally unusable with Dorico 5, which is a notation software. I know BBCSO is only designed for DAW, but it should have ways to work in Dorico, and there are playback templates made by Dorico. I obtained BBCSO Pro recently and tried to playback some pieces in Dorico, and observed some issues that I could not resolve. The first issue is latency among different BBCSO instruments are not synchronized. Some instruments play earlier, some later, and the maximum difference among them are around a duration of a 8th note, which is not tolerable. I didn't put any non-BBCSO instrument yet, and suppose Dorico would compensate latency among different VST per my previous experience, so I am quite confuse if anything I could do. The second issue might also relate to latency. I raised the dynamics very significantly just before a note, and then decay gradually. However, in playback, the note was played very loud in a very short duration like an attack, and then returned to a soft dynamic immediately. Such an attack is not expected. The third issue is staccato on flutes is barely audible. It is only slightly audible when it is played in solo, like playing in ppp although the marked dynamic is p. It seems not making sense to use a dynamic of fff on only staccato notes in order to hear it. Another issue is repeated 8th notes, especially on Strings, in a tempo of Andante would be played with a delay except the first note. It is not using legato patches. I found it is only better if I adjust their note duration to be 60% of originals, but they are not supposed to be staccato notes. I also found the sound tone quality between Discover and Pro is actually similar, although I expect Pro should be much better, especially pitched percussion. I mean the same song played by Discover is not any worse than Pro, when only the main mic is used. Not sure if I have setup anything wrong, but the VST UI is showing the text "Pro" and using a black background. It is really disappointed to buy an unusable product with 700 USD (a discounted price).

Works great and sounds amazing. I use it with Dorico and NotePerformer 4's NotePerformer Playback Engine, and everything is so amazing! Works great "right out of the box" and has so much potential with power-user tweaking!
The BBC Symphony Orchestra Pro is truly next level. The sound quality is simply amazing and the customization options are insane! If you’re looking for excellence, you just found it! Worth every penny!
They sound magnificent! And with lots of amazing articulations for all instruments... The only con: at almost 600GB, it took days to download! :( - But it eventually downloaded fine and was worth the wait... I have several other Spitfire libraries that I love; I'm sure I'll keep buying more!
