I always loved how a Cello sounds......now i got that beautiful Sound at my fingertips and it´s just pure Fun to play with..........even a Bartok Pizzicato is "on Board" :o)

Beautifully performed by world-renowned concert cellist Richard Harwood, this is our most detailed and complete solo cello to date. Very real sounding but would like a way to slow vibrato. Kicks in to fast and is too lively.....

Bought it specifically for a piece which had a cello as a lead line, but unfortunately I had to replace it with my original intimate strings CS. Although the majority of the long notes were very beautiful and expressive, and the portamento transition always brought me chills, the way the legato transition merged into the long was very unsatisfying and noticeable. Furthermore, in the low mid range a large proportion of the samples sounded very odd, almost as if someone had badly messed with the eq section with almost all the lows cut-out and the mids boxy and synthetic. Due to these problems I found that I had to completely rewrite the cello part at which point I gave up, finding it sounded better with the basic intimate strings con sordino. I really wanted it to work - but I’m afraid I can’t recommend it to you…
The cello is such a valuable instrument option from acoustic rock, pop and film scores. The Spitfire Solo Cello is something I have wanted in my arsenal from first hearing Neil Young's THE LONER. Arrangers, from Jack Nietzsche to Paul Buckmaster, long understood the power of the solo cello, especially coupled with the male voice. Nice one, Spitfire!
O i just commented all that before in previous box. Oh..again. Well, i dont have many cellos, actually its the first one. But still, i think its very muddy and bad for mixing or even when used as solo solo. It has boxy resonances, i think around 380hz and generally between 300-600..its just not balanced and cannot be used str8 from the box. I had lots of problems to get at least close to the color and balance i want. I dont know. I think better job should be done here.
I find it easier and faster to make music by going straight into the midi editor and drawing in notes and then overdub recording the instruments parameters (dynamics/ vibrato etc) and it's been delightful to work with this cello and getting to know how it responds. Now that I know how to tweak the midi to get the best result from the instruments sounds I'm very happy with it :) It's a fantastic price for it's capabilities and it's beautiful sound.

I was in the market for a quality solo cello library,I did my research and listened to demos as usual, kept coming back to this one and finally purchased it.I felt it had the right sound I was after, got it for a fantastic price as well. Some of the other libraries I demoed didn’t have that sound I wanted and had a heftier price tag. I can always rely on spitfire for amazing quality time after time. Thank you Spitfire Audio.
I'm absolutely blown away by this. The amount of expression possible is amazing. The more you play around with the sliders the more there is to discover. I wrote a new track straight after downloading as I was so inspired by it
The design this Instrument limits the composer/ improviser to using it only in the way that they dictate. You must have access to two mod wheels or sliders and you cannot use it in the way that I would prefer: mod wheel for vibrato switching and key velocity for dynamic sample switching. The short samples that switch on when you play fast don’t blend well with the legato of longer note performance. Not happy!
After listening to demos & watching videos numerous times I decided to make the jump and purchase Solo Cello (on sale). The ability to alter the dynamics & articulations & vibrato using the mod wheel & knobs/sliders (rather than with key changes) really allows you to just focus on playing the instrument more realistically. It tool a little experimentation to get the keyboard technique right (for me anyway) but I was really happy with the product so I bought Solo Violin a few days later. If I decide to buy the complete Spitfire Solo Strings at a later time my previous purchase of Cello & Violin will reduce the price I pay. This is a great option provided by Spitfire for those (like me) that don't necessarily want to commit hundreds of $ when just starting out.
Love being able to 'perform' this. long overdue to have performance-type sample based libraries and Spitfire have come up trumps. Very intuitive.The only thing I have yet to work out is if I can play double stops. Best with two CC sliders as they say in demo, so I purchased a nano Kontrol and it works well with it. If you already have cc controlers on keyboard then no need for extra equipment. Like this so much I will get the solo violin as well.
Although I have not use this product on a score or content yet, as soon as I installed it and got it on my keyboard, I knew that I had found the absolute best in class solo cello that I had ever Heard. The articulations are extraordinarily intuitive, the Brado control is so unencumbered and completely natural, the ability to place it in the audio environment using both microphone position and reverb is absolutely stunning. From its bowed intensity, to its melancholic sadness, this is an instrument that I will undoubtedly use for the rest of my career. Thank you again Christian, Paul and Spitfire for delivering such extraordinary creative tools and options.

The plugin sounds great but there are 2 issues that have to be fixed : 1. The "Easy Mix" doesn't work" (the support team is aware). 2. The automatic rebow on long notes isn't satisfying (support team aware as well).
