Good service but unacceptable support

The set-up of the StarLink dish was generally easy, but I have the equipment and ability to do the install. Connecting to the service easy. The internet service was fast for our purposes. Two months after the service was running, it stopped because of a malfunction with the router. StartLink arranged to send a replacement router at no charge but, we are now eight days with no internet and no indication when the replacement router will arrive. Also, StarLink does not provide any on-site technical support. In fact, you cannot speak with a human within StarLink for any reason at any time. In summary, StarLink works well when it works but, their model to send replacement equipment by courier and leaving the customer without internet service for days is not acceptable.

Rural usage only ,no obstructions, app shows all interference

Installed on the16th of Sept 2023,first of all this system is not for city folf,or brain dead people that think they are computer wizbangs, event hough it is 300 miles to a satellite constellation the system we gave is performing better than the rural microwave at 50mb,we only got 30 on a good day and since no government involvement they can't limit you,or throttle usage, sure t h ere will be times of outage, doesnt your smart phone do the same,it is quite a engineering feat of Elon and should applaud this man for bringing internet to country folk like my son, first impressions usually last a lifetime,it will only get better as proven as time goes on,I suggest getting a tech savvy person to help in setup and no I mean no obstructions what so ever or it will not work!duh

This is probably the worst wifi I’ve ever used to play video games. I lag out of almost every match and if I don’t lag out I get so many random lag spikes it makes playing any sort of competitive game virtually impossible. Unless they can actually stabilize the connection to the satellite it will always be an inferior choice to any regular internet service. Constantly disconnects from satellite kicking you out of any game you were hoping to play

Terrible

Terrible! First off I got the RV internet package. I was told my account was suspended due to lack of payment. That is fine, I was okay with that even though they wait 3 months I guess before they stop charging your card even though it had 0 use whatsoever, so the bill got pretty high. We were under the wrong assumption that stow mode was the same as pause service. They informed me of the pause the service feature and told me my account was suspended and no more bills would be coming in. Then the next month another bill came in. So now the balance is even higher. I get back with support and they tell me to pay the full balance so they can refund the last charge that they told me wasn't supposed to happen at all. In the end it was just a huge headache, felt like the entire company was so abrasive and bad at customer service. Just a horrible experience, don't recommend due to the way Starlink treats it's customers.

Starlink Will Not Return My Deposit

I ordered Starlink October 28, 2022 and paid a $99 deposit. I never received anything. I cancelled it June 6, 2023. I received an email that I would have to update my payment method to receive my refund. I updated it. They never sent my refund. At my account there, it has "This issue has been closed." It's NOT closed. I want my money back. There is no way to contact these people.

Overpriced Trash

This is advertised as satellite internet not like typical satellite internet. I am writing this to tell you it is exactly like all the other satellite internet out there. (Hughes Net, Dish, Etc.) it has moments where it is okay and even good but majority of the time it is spotty and bogged down under 3-5mbps speeds. All this for the “low” price of $135 to $150 a month. Only pro compared to other providers is the setup is easy.

Just had Starlink never worked from the get go and when I returned it while it was under a 30 trial. I was refunded 224.00 when I paid 281. Dollars are you kidding me the modem plug and the plug to the dish wouldn’t talk it was crap and very expensive for their system money grab. Would never recommend was at a friends who had this streaming was crappy froze most of the time wasn’t very good in my opinion. Glad I sent it back.

I have a dish, can't reconnect, no humans work there to help

I have a dish. We paused service last year since we would be out of town for the winter, at least 6 months. Now that we are back I have spent a week trying to restart it. My satellite/hardware is no longer associated with my account for some reason. I go to restart my internet and it won't let me. I turn on my satellite and it connects and says I need to restart billing. I tried to re-link my satellite and account only for it to say my sn is not valid (I quadruple checked, its the correct input). Honestly at the end of my rope. I don't want to buy a whole new dish when service is this aweful. I have gone through every decision tree I can to fix it. It won't work, and there is no way to file a ticket, email, or call someone for help.
To be clear I'm tech savy... this really shouldn't be this hard

Disappointing Starlink experience...

Very excitedly ordered my Starlink package on the 31st of Jan 2023. Received an email to say my equipment had been shipped and I could expect to receive it by the end of June. Have since had a number of (generic) emails, each time delaying my order by another month with no indication or guarantee that I will ever actually receive it. Am SO disappointed. I live and work in an extremely remote part of Mozambique (in wildlife conservation) and I recommended this product to a number of friends (ALL of whom purchased their Starlink kits and have since received theirs). Have emailed Starlink and their response was pretty generic as well. Very disappointing experience. Still no sign of my kit, so I guess all one can do is wait?

Been using starlink for close to a year, high upfront equipement costs after being on a wait list to even get it for over a year, the service itself has been okay compared to ATT speeds I had before with DSL, but I had issues no fault of my own this month with service outages and the customer service from starlink is worse than imaginable, they send canned pretyped emails from BOTS, when you curse about it they threaten to cancel your service , bottom line find another option bc if you ever have a problem you will regret the investment.

A recent complaint I sent.

A recent complaint I sent.

I wanted to let you know that as a customer now for just under a year I remain extremely frustrated with your support.
I logged a ticket over 2 weeks ago for a dead router. It took over a week to get a response, then over a week for the replacement to ship and it's expected in another week to 10 days.
This means that with Starlink, if you have a technical issue, especially one that requires replacement equipment, you'll be down for THREE WEEKS minimum.
This is completely unacceptable; most of your customers rely on Broadband to work from home. I can't rely on a service that I could lose for weeks at a time.
Secondly, the wifi performance of your router/mesh routers is diabolical. Their range is pathetic. I have an average sized house and need 4 of them to get coverage, when my previous supplier BT, supplied a router that covered the whole house!

You need to invest in your support organisation.

You need to invest in in-country spares.

EDIT: replacement router still hasnt even shipped.

Worst service I have experienced

Started service about 2 years ago. Internet was good for where we live and I had to spend some time move the satellite to find the best spot. After finding the best location it still had some outages and slow speeds but I ignored that because I can't get wired internet where I am. The price went up to $110/month for awhile then I got an email saying the price would stay the same or go back to $99 if in an area with low usage. A few months later it went up to $120. I live middle of no where kansas there can't be much usage. The only way to contact them is through their app. The rep sent a scripted message and closed the ticket. I opened it again and she called me and told me I don't have a contact I can just cancel and hung up on me. Still can't get and customer service.

Convoluted and/or deceptive description of plans

After confirming availability in my area of travel for the months of July and August, I had ordered Roam Standard package noting description including:

1) "Standard Starlink is designed for portable use at any destination where Starlink has active coverage."

2) "Pause and un-pause service at any time. Billing is in one-month increments, allowing users to customize their service to their individual travel needs." for $150.00 per month.

Buried in the Terms of Service or what have you, it had come to my surprise that Starlink automatically started billing when I had received notice that payment was made for the month of June with my credit card.

Trying to get a hold of a person for "real-time" customer service, I come to note that they can only be reached by placing "ticket" requests. This is labor and time intensive that is counter-productive, especially for business owners where time is money.

After extensive back and forth referencing their own description of service having not matched up with what they were providing, they were so gracious to offer to refund my unopened starlink hardware (gee thanks!), but emphatically refused to refund the month of June even though I did not activate the account to go live; they claim that it's automatic.

I can't comment on the service or equipment, but if I could grade NO STARS for my experience rating, that's what it would be based on deceptive and/or convoluted description of service and policies alone; not to mention the limited access to timely customer service and "good faith" business practice.

Worst Customer service I have ever experienced!

Trying to order a new connection, been waiting 3 month and still be fobbed off with various excuses. Customer service is the worst I have experienced, it swings between being ignored, automated responses and teflon staff where nothing sticks and cannot apparently help.

I think my kids blunt scissors are more cutting edge than these guys.

Disappointed

Disappointed. Router was SIXTEEN "software updates behind," by admission of their own customer service. A second router was sent. Then a third. Plus an extra cable. We spent hours... NEVER could connect! Not once!! (Who on Earth would even sell a router that's sixteen software updates behind)? I feel I've been ripped off. Initial cost $2,600. Steep monthly service fees. Customer service: friendly but slow. Numerous mis-deliveries. Help desk tickets closed with zero follow up. No technician to service or troubleshoot the system. Customers are on their own. This was supposed to be the answer to rural Internet. But clearly NOT the answer we were hoping for.

The customer service is ridiculously slow and unresponsive. I ordered a replacement for a damaged part and it took three weeks for it to get shipped and another week for it to arrive. Customer service reps don’t give a crap about you.

Great for rural New Zealand

We live in a remote part of the South Island and have had poor internet coverage at best, 0.5 mbps download. With no landline and reliant on Wi-Fi calling having Starlink installed was life changing in a great way. We now have over 45 Mbps download speed which is appreciated with 2 teens at home and I feel much more comfortable having a good connection for Wi-Fi calling. The app is great and the equipment is now affordable. I would highly recommend this product/service to anyone living rural.
