We were moving from San Francisco to…

We were moving from San Francisco to Long Beach California. After a brief search we settled on Star van lines. At first everything seemed easy we’d never moved that far before,but we wanted to try doing it ourselves.After all math we decided that moving company would be the better deal and we weren’t wrong.Our move with them went really smoothly and easily. I strongly recommend Star Van Lines for everyone and for any kind of moving!

Move from LA to Oklahoma city

I moved from Japan to LA port and my broker gave me Star’s representative contact. Justin was amazing , gave me a quote for full truck . I didn’t want unexpected charges so paid for the full 26 ft truck and my load was the only one in a truck . It took 2 days to deliver from LA to Oklahoma City . Very fast and professional. Thanks for the help , good job guys

At the end of April

At the end of April, I moved from Colorado to Los Angeles, Pasadena.
Some friends recommended i reach out to a moving company called Star Van Lines. I worked out the pricing over the phone with Sonya, and honestly, everything went flawlessly - Even better than i expected.
The foreman - Cody, actually hooked me up with a straight delivery option at no extra charge, which i later found out most companies charge a premium for this)))
I`ve zero regrets going with Star Van Lines!

If you want a stress-free move, these are your people.
The whole experience was legitimately awesome!

General Complaint

Hi Star Van Lines moved me from Ilinois to Texas, basically across the state. This was a long distance move. So from the beginning, I was asked to submit a deposit of approximately $860 for a deposit. I was told the entire move would be $2100. So I said ok. However, upon the moving company picking up my items I was quoted a different price. They also asked you to sign several sheets of paper for services they have not completed yet, saying, just in case. The crazy part, is if you didn't sign, they would not pick up your things or deliver your things. At the time, I should have checked around for more moving companie, but I didn't . I was mishandled and deceitfully told that I would be working with strictly star van lines, not knowing they worked with 3rd parties. The people that picked up my items were intercontinental and they arrived late. They were supposed to be there between 8am and 12noon, but instead got there after 12pm. So that was another strike. However, they charged us extra money for boxes, when I had already packed my items in my own boxes. That was anothe strike. There was poor communication from this entire company. Then we were told by the movers that it would take up to 2 to 3 weeks before we saw our items. Why was that? I was never told this by the sales person. After they gathered our things and loaded them on the truck, and it is now for my family and I to get to Texas. Once we got there, we waited on star van lines to contact us regarding when they would bring us our things, well a 1 week and 1/2 half went past and no one called us. So I reached out to Justin , and he finally text back saying he would contact someone. That was great! I appreciated that, so then someone calls me from PVG saying they have my things and they will bring them the following day.. I said ok. When he gets there, he brings another charge saying they had to switch trucks because he could not drive his 18 wheeler in the parking lot, so I am charged an extra $900 dollars. Are you kidding me? This was insane. I was being misled, lied to, scammed out of my money for nothing. I indeed tried to make my move as easy as possible, but still I was required to spend more money I did not have at the time. Then once I signed for that, he then unloaded my things, but in the process of unloading, he kept complaining about taking my things out and setting them up. He left my legs of my table, so I had to wait for him to bring those back, then he damaged my curve 65 inch flat screen and broke my TV and TV stand and also scratch up my floors of my brand new complex and I was not compensated for. I filed a complaint several times. and they offered me $200 dollars. This is a complete joke. My TV alone cost over $2500 and the deep scratch in the vinyl floor was well over $200. I could not believe this horrible experience. I spent over $2800 for this entire move. Plus I had to move my vehicles which was another $2500. This was an horrible experience and I do not recommend Star Van Lines to no one. They do not handle your merchandise appropriately and they work with 3rd parties. They are not upfront about the total cost or the fact they work with third parties. I am really upset and disappointed. I am at the point of seeking lawyers and getting compensated for my damaged property. They should be sued and they should be out of business for how they treat people. It is totally uncalled for.

"Using Star Van Lines LLC for our interstate move from Michigan to Wisconsin was an absolute nightmare. This company relies on deceptive sales tactics, inflicts grueling logistical delays, handles property with complete negligence, and outright fabricates tracking stories to cover up their failures.
~The Predatory Bait-and-Switch: I walked the crew through every single room of our house and garage, detailing every item. I was promised an accurate quote. However, once they loaded just one-third of our things, the supervisor cornered us and demanded a price increase that made the final bill almost double the original estimate. They gave us an ultimatum: pay the inflated price, or they would unload the truck right there and we would lose our $2,000 deposit. This is an illegal hostage-load extortion tactic.
~Complete Logistical Nightmare: Our original contract explicitly scheduled packing for Sunday and the physical move for Monday. Out of nowhere on Thursday, they called and unilaterally upended our schedule, stating they were simply too busy to show up on our originally agreed-upon days. They forced us to move the packing day up to Saturday. When they demanded this, I explicitly told them that I physically could not and my husband was not supposed to be there, meaning I would be completely alone to handle this chaos. Even though our plans changed and he was ultimately able to be there, they forced the change with total disregard for my situation, only to completely no-show on Saturday without any warning. When I finally called for an update after they missed their window, the driver admitted they were broken down in Detroit—nearly 4 hours away. They knew they wouldn't make it but never proactively called me. They took a simple 6.5-hour direct move and stretched it into a chaotic, 7-day logistical disaster.
~Blatant Corporate Lies: When I formally complained about the delivery delay, customer service sent a canned email claiming our items were delayed due to 'consolidation into a semi-trailer'. This was a complete lie. Our belongings left on a large box truck and arrived on a completely different box truck. They performed an unauthorized cargo transfer in Chicago, letting our life's possessions sit for days while fabricating a story about a semi-trailer to cover up their tracking failures.Grossly Negligent Packing & Damage: Their 'professional packing' was a joke. They shoved a dusty, artificial Christmas tree into a box with sensitive household electronics including our Playstation 5, Wii, and loose power cords. They packed a 4 lb box of open baking soda in the exact same box as all of my clean kitchen towels and linens, leaving everything covered in powder and completely ruining them. Every kitchen box opened had busted food in them. One with our SHOWER curtains in with food. Multiple heavy boxes were loaded completely upside down directly on top of delicate clothes hangers and small appliances.
~Contract and Safety Violations with Hazardous Chemicals: We explicitly instructed the crew not to pack or move our household chemicals. Furthermore, their own signed company contract explicitly lists household chemicals as prohibited hazardous materials that they are not allowed to transport due to spill and fire risks. They completely ignored federal safety regulations and violated their own binding contract by throwing loose, unsealed chemical spray bottles, cleaning liquids, and scrubbing tools into a box right next to absorbent fabrics.
~Hostile and Combative Service: When I called to address these issues, the representative refused to help. After I hung up, the representative actively called my personal phone back just to argue with me further and try to intimidate me. They count on customers getting too tired and giving up. Do not let them do this to you. Avoid this company like the plague"

no cash payments? no deal

we’ve researched sites online and it seems reviews can be all over the place. Star Van Lines wants your business but all at their demands. Several different reps call/text & you have to go over all with ea. then comes estimate- & spec’d how ea approx 1/3 payment will be made and when; 1/3 upon signing, by credit or debit only. Second, prior to loading- 1/3, by certified check, M.O. or cash! lol the last payment, prior to unloading, certified check; M.O. or cash! our move cost was to be approx $2,600 + so it wasn’t like a local. So all contact ceased upon OUR request for a receipt for any cash payment lol bypass the I.R.S? we’re glad we didn’t choose Star Van Lines - the lack of class was obvious upon no further notice. We signed with another firm and suggest you do the same!

Our payment schedule was fully disclosed in writing before any agreement was signed and is standard within the interstate moving industry. The payment terms, accepted forms of payment, and timing of payments are clearly outlined in the customer's signed documents and provided before any commitment is made.

We do not request or accept payments without providing documentation. Any suggestion that our company attempts to avoid tax reporting or operates outside legal requirements is completely false and unsupported.

It is also important to note that the reviewer chose not to proceed with our services, meaning no move was performed and no business transaction was completed. As a result, the reviewer is not commenting on an actual moving experience, but rather on their personal disagreement with our payment policies, which were disclosed in advance.

We respect every customer's right to choose the company that best fits their needs, and we wish the reviewer the best with their relocation. However, we believe reviews should accurately reflect actual service experiences and factual information.

Everything was great from start till…

Everything was great from start till finish.
On time, professional, efficient movers came, pavked everything, we were done the same day, 4 bedroom hpuse moving to a 3 badroom house. Was expecting the move to be stressful, but it really wasn’t. Much appreciated😁

Poor communication

Poor communication: misinformation, no response to inquiries, or in one instance the customer service rep lied about the status of my belongings. At time of writing, it has been 30+ business days and nearly two months since my belongings were picked up and I am still waiting on delivery. I would not recommend this company.

Excellent service guys were cool they made me feel a little old by calling me sir all day but other than that lol I got no complaints the crew they sent out knew what they were doing, efficient and hard workers.I’m definitely satisfied with star vanlines they definitely earned a happy returning customer

Good and profesioanl

The team did an excellent job with my move! They were professional, efficient, and very careful with all my belongings. Everything was packed and transported smoothly without any issues, and they made the whole process stress-free. Communication was clear from start to finish, and they worked quickly while still being thorough. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and professional moving company!

Would NEVER EVER recommend

My experience with Star Van Lines has been extremely disappointing. I was quoted $4,409 for a long‑distance move from MA to AZ. My things were picked up on Feb 16 and I was told delivery would take 10-14 days from pickup. The quick delivery window is the ONLY reason I decided to use their services.

After my furniture was picked up, communication completely stopped. I reached out on Feb 24 for an update and learned (only because I called) that my belongings were still sitting in Massachusetts. Weather was used as an excuse, even though my items were picked up before the snow storm and sat untouched for 10–12 days. No one notified me of delays, no one explained why my things were moved into storage without my knowledge, and no one could tell me why they weren’t placed on earlier west‑coast trucks.

Instead of accountability, I received defensiveness, rudeness, and repeated references to their “21‑day delivery window,” as if that excused the lack of communication and unnecessary delay. I was never told there were two delivery options (Standard vs. Premium), and I was misled to believe my items would be on a west‑coast truck arriving by Feb 23–25.

My furniture wasn’t actually loaded for transport until Feb 27 (twelve days after pickup) and I was told it would take up to another week to arrive. Meanwhile, I’ve had to buy essentials for myself and my 8‑year‑old because we have nothing to sleep on or use in our home since moving in on the 21st!

I’ve made two long‑distance moves before and have never experienced anything this unacceptable or unreasonable. The lack of honesty, transparency, and basic customer service is unacceptable. I will not be recommending Star Van Lines to anyone and hope they (along with their 3rd party partners) take responsibility for the financial and emotional stress this has caused.

UPDATE: This situation keeps getting worse. I was told by Star Van Lines’ "partner" (A&B Movers) that my furniture was loaded onto a truck Feb 27 for transport on Feb 28 and according to the driver would take a maximum of 7 days. You would think my delivery would arrive March 6–7. This turned out to be completely false.

On March 6, I was told by A&B that my delivery (who they outsourced again to a company named Delpro) would arrive that evening between 6–7pm. At 7:45pm, I got a text from the actual driver saying he wouldn’t arrive until Tuesday–Thursday because his truck had been down for repairs all week and he had only left Massachusetts 8 hours earlier! If you remember from my review I was told my delivery would be transported as of Feb 28. Of course, no one from Star Van Lines or A&B bothered to tell me any of this because they are incompetent at communication.

When I called A&B, they pretended they never called me with the fake delivery time. The Delpro driver was the only person who was apologetic and sympathetic while everyone else has been rude, defensive, and completely unprofessional.

In their Trustpilot reply they tell me to "be patient" and that my delivery will be "delivered on scheduled terms". But now whenever this driver finally gets to AZ to delivery my things it will be beyond their supposed scheduled terms so I wonder what excuse they'll come back with now! And furthermore, how much more patience do you think a customer can have under these circumstances? You had my furniture since Feb 16th! And as you can see, they didn't even apologize in their reply! Would you want to do business with a company like that? When things go wrong they want to stand behind terms and contracts instead of being understanding, sympathetic, and accommodating...This company and their partners are disorganized, misleading, and impossible to trust. I will never recommend them. Please save yourself the stress and choose another mover.

Everything was wrapped,protected and handled with care real attention to detail.Nothing was rushed, nothing was damaged,and communication was great the entire time.The crew showed up on time ,worked hard,and treated my furniture and personal items like their own. 0 Star – Extremely Unprofessional and Harassing Experience

I had one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a moving company agent. was absolutely unbearable to deal with.

From the very beginning, she called nonstop like a spam caller, sent text messages every few minutes, and flooded my inbox with emails. It felt like harassment rather than customer service. There was no respect for boundaries at all.

On the phone, she was extremely rude, cut me off while I was speaking, and even hung up the call while I was still talking. Completely unprofessional behavior for anyone representing a company.

The pricing was just as bad. She quoted fake amounts, then suddenly changed the numbers, followed by so-called “discounts” that also kept changing. Nothing was clear, transparent, or trustworthy. It felt misleading and dishonest the entire time.

This agent gave me zero confidence in Star Van Lines. If this is how their representatives treat potential customers, I would strongly warn others to stay away. Very stressful, very aggressive, and very unprofessional experience overall.

Worst agent experience ever.
