READ THIS this before filing a claim with State Auto

I have probably written 2 negative reviews in my life but this situation requires one. Won't get into details but the company used a bait and switch where they told me what to do and then denied the claim because I did what they told me to do.. If you have a similar experience with State Auto, def contact your state department of insurance and file a complaint. It took me 2+ months to get my car repaired.

Errors & Omissions created unauthorized charges/fees

Recently I instructed my Insurance Agent to contact State Auto and ensure that my 2022 policy did not renew in 2023. They had filled out the paperwork, had me sign it, and sent it in. I thought it was a done deal. Then I received a past due notice for a $15.61 fee for the policy renewing then expiring 1 day later. I contacted both companies to see what could be done as this was explicitly against my wishes, never authorized, erroneously billed, and is an error & omission on the Insurance Agent or State Auto's behalf, not mine. I contacted customer support and they indicated there was nothing to be done and insisted on payment. I will never use this company in the future due to the failure in customer service and decision on how this was to be handled.

Home insurance was increased after inspection

Home insurance was increased after their inspection. They said I had 4 bedrooms when I only have 3. Called customer service and after holding for 40 minutes they transferred me to, now get this, my agent! Also, the account on the policy I received is different from the account in their system so the customer knew this and that’s why she transferred me because I was later told their accounting system is all screwed up. I just found out you don’t have to wait a year to transfer and my law they have to prorate and return your money. So if you had them for 1 month, they have to repay you for 11 months
