Needlessly obstructive processes

If I could score less than 1 star I would. Processes for accessing information are archaic and needlessly obstructive. When trying to access my information GDPR was incorrectly quoted as the reason for not being able to give information when actually it is the exact opposite.

Morons

Absolutely terrible customer service and getting worse every year. Sent back five mature bonds for repayment for kids college fees. Bank statement attached (even though we've sent them this twice before) all stapled into one file and posted together. They separated the documents and paid one, they refused the others looking for a bank statement ( which they had in their hand) and specimen signature for my daughter ( even though they had repaid one with her signature in the same batch with no issue) absolute morons, go to Raisin Bank with your savings folks.

Customer service is nonexistent

Customer service is nonexistent.
Every enquiry takes a week to get a reply to. I am trying to access matured funds for over a month now. Half of questions are being ignored. They request information by post which adds few weeks to each enquiry. More than that, there is always something missing, and you need to fill one form after another then witness it or certify it. I am on my 3rd form requested by them. The previous one was witnessed in a post office and they forgot to take a copy of ID. They must think people have no jobs to go to. Very frustrating. Earned €20 in interest over 3 years. I'd rather kept my money in the bank. Online account is an absolute waist - you can not make any changes, you can not withdraw money BUT you can surely top your account up - no issue there. Dealing with an Post is like going 100 years back.

Poor experience and slow

It's like dealing with the civil service in 1980's. Having already completed a similar transaction a few months earlier at maturity, I'm now being asked for validation of my signature. I have to get it witnessed at a Gardai station which is extremely inconvenient as there is no Garda station near me. It takes 3/4 days to reply to requests and they also have my money for over a month not getting interest. Pathetic service.

Diseased Savings

My Mam passed, myself and my sister are executors of my Mam's will. Seriously, I don't really know where to begin here, with the frustration and upset we are experiencing trying to get my Mam's savings released. Constant requests for same documents, registered post them to State Savings, they constantly can't find them. Send copy of register post receipt and finally find them in scanning room. I got on to the complaints department was told I'd be given a person who I can deal with directly, tried calling this person and now told I can't be put through to him. They are an absolute nightmare to deal with, no respect or understanding. I would strongly advise, never put your hard earned money with State Savings. So frustrated and annoyed with the ongoing stress from this company.

Bad customer service

Trying to get our money back for past month with no.legit reason or explanation as to why it's not been released and as of today I have been told it had been reinvested by mistake and that it will be put into my bank
That's after speaking to several different people working from Call Centres that could not give me an honest answer Expecting my money to be transferred later today The least I would expect is an apolige

If I could give a lower review I would…

If I could give a lower review I would . There is so much red tape to withdraw your money it is ridiculous. My father passed away a year and half ago , he was a great man and had invested money with state savings for all his children , having to access those funds have been so difficult and such an uphill and lengthy battle. Getting all joined accounts passed over to my mothers name has also been just as challenging.
I would never invest money with state savings for this reason. I recommend everyone stay clear from this bank

Closure of account

My partner and I had a joint prize bonds account which we transferred into a joint account with a retail bank. We wrote to State Savings to close our account as we have no use for it. On 3 occasions, they asked us to provide an account for transfer of funds, and bank statement for the account. I wrote to them twice to explain that there should be no need for us to give them an account when closing an empty account but they don’t seem to understand. It is frustrating that there is no email or phone number to contact them for this and they keep asking us to fill out a form for repayment. Also, there is no estatement, which is a basic thing these days for sustainability. Very poor experience.

Trying to log into Irish prizebonds…

Trying to log into Irish prizebonds website is a nightmare, for some reason it locks you out even when you have entered the correct password. Customer service knows about this for months without doing anything about it. Why are Irish public sector services the worst experience? don't waste your time ringing them because you will be on hold for ever.

Decent website.

I'm a member since 2020. It's a decent website. No complaints. It makes it easy to check if my Prize Bonds numbers are winners instead of manually checking the tickets. I'm still waiting for my numbers to come up.
