In October 2022

In October 2022, I saw Steinmart had been added as a vendor offering teacher discounts in October. I purchased items on a debit card. I will never purchase from Steinmart again. They never emailed me that one item was out of stock. It just never came and when I emailed them, they said, oh, it was not available. They only wanted to give me a credit - for items never received. I demanded a refund for that item. I got a refund 3 weeks later. Their emails always say something like we have too many inquiries and will be back with you soon. I had other items in the order. I sent them back. I do not have my money back, nor any answers from them. I cannot reach them with any phone number I see for them online, nor does any online email I sent get a response. The customer rep I dealt with is not responding to me. My bank said they can email a letter requesting Steinmart contact the bank. No response has been given back, not even to my bank. I am out $102 roughly. Now, it is February 2023. No money back. I always loved the brick and mortar stores. How terrible of them to take advantage of people, us teachers, who don't make a lot of money to begin with.

Don't bother, shop elsewhere

Used to love shopping at the brick and mortar store. Since it closed I was happy to find them online because they have some cute styles. After 4 months trying to get my purchases and then trying to get a refund for my returned items, I am absolutely dismayed! They were a complete failure on all fronts. The first blouse received was totally different than the photos and unsuitable, the second blouse was never received, then they sent me a duplicate of the first blouse! All went back and I had to contact them twice to get refunded. It finally came through less some kind of fee (I guess as there was no explanation). So I ended paying them money for receiving nothing but troubles. They have been a complete disappointment and I will never do business with then again.

a rubbish company

a rubbish company. dont buy from them unless you are prepared for no replys, no returns, no refunds.
I wish I had read reviews before ordering as I am now stuck with a dress that doesn't fit because I can't get any response although I have tried multiple times. wish I had read reviews before ordering and been the wiser.
they now have my money and I have a dress going to the goodwill. JUST BEWARE!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Steinmart just informed me since I did not see the discount code of: sitewide it could not be applied to my order which has not shipped yet.

When I went to the returns area it was written that only a store credit will be given and not a refund to your original form of payment …???

What is up with that negative customer service experience ???

They won’t listen. Fill your inbox!!

"I have done nearly all of my shopping at a Florida Steinmart store for over 10 years. I especially liked the designer section at the front of the store. So I was so very sad when they all closed. But then they started selling online and while I wasn't fond of online shopping, I gave it a go with some leggings and brands that I had worn before. At first that worked fine. NOT NOW!
I saw overpriced items but let them keep sending me occasional texts about sales as they slowly broadened their inventory. Gradually they sent more and more texts. I was getting two a day and if I dared look at the sale, I'd get another immediately as if I'd forgotten that I had looked and said "No". They remind me every time I close the page that I forgot something or "It looks like you were eyeing this". YES I looked and decided NO!
I sent them messages that I loved their store and did not want to block them completely but please stop sending so many texts. One a week would be fine. How did they respond? No change. I again requested them to limit messages or I would be forced to unsubscribe.
Today I had three new messages BEFORE NOON!
If they don't unsubscribe me now I will BLOCK them!
After reading on this site, it's clear to me that I don't want to do business with them anymore anyway!

Refuse to give them your contact info or buy anything until or if they get the message that customers don’t want their phone filled with 30 plus text !!!
We do NOT need to be reminded that we looked at something and decided NO!! Among a dozen other things, that is insulting and aggravating!!

DO NOT ORDER FROM STEIN MART!!! THEY LIE!!

I prepaid for an order of 4 items in February 2021. Only received 3 of the four items. Via email they agreed to accept return/full refund of items but never did send prepaid label as promised NOR refund for the missing item. I disputed with CC company and Stein Mart said they could not refund until dispute lifted. BIG mistake, I am reopening dispute five months later because they have not followed through with ANYTHING they promised...and I NEVER received that missing item or refund for not having received it!!

Worst customer service

I cancelled a $206.90 order minutes after placing it. I spoke directly to a customer service rep and was told that the cost of my purchase would be refunded to my bank. I called back the same day to verify that the refund would go to my bank. Once again I was promised it would. However, the “refund” I received was in the form of store credit. When I called back, I was offered store credit for my purchase plus 25%. I declined.
Since May 10, the date of my regretted order placement, I have placed 15 phone calls to find out when I can expect my monetary refund.
I have been told several times that my request has been escalated to the billing department, and given the same lame excuse of not being able to transfer me to that department or that they can’t give out the phone number.
I’ve also been told repeatedly that I would hear from them in 24-48 hours. One rep said he’d call me every day to update me. Lies! Lies! Lies!
As of today’s call, I was offered 60% store credit plus the cost of my purchase. I just want my $206.90 back. Two weeks is long enough to wait.
I will call again tomorrow!!!’
I say, “buyer beware.”

I really like this store

I really like this store, they offer various items, for all
customers, and they offer sales often.

As far as an online ordering, I have not experienced that
thus far, but, I may check out

SteinMart exceeds expectations

SteinMart exceeded my expectations. The online shopping was easy & I received good communication regarding the order. My items shipped out FAST, and arrived within a week. The quality of the clothes are good & the price was good. I have ordered 2 more times since placing the first order. All 3 times it has been a pleasure to receive my goods so fast and without error. I will definitely shop SteinMart again.

I wish I had read the reviews about…

I wish I had read the reviews about online ordering with Stein Mart before I ordered online. I, too, received numerous cancellations about an order I placed. Actually, the first cancellation came within 5 minutes of my order. I needed that particular item for a bedroom plan. It was like my ordering a pair of shoes and they cancelled the right shoe and was planning on sending me the left shoe. I called customer service immediately and had to wait 30 minutes for someone. Then I was told by that person and his supervisor that it was too late to cancel my order as it was already processing. It is ok for Stein Mart to cancel an order but not ok for a customer to do so within an hour of the order! Three days later I received another notice that they cancelled another item. I was told to return the items when the stores reopen. What a waste of my time and cost to Stein Mart to mail it to me. I am done with Stein Mart after many years of shopping with it.

frequent order cancellation

Last week I bought a lot of items online. Today it was the 3rd. time, that I got an email, my order was cancelled. I called "customer service" and they told me, the items were sold out. I will not order anything from them anymore as well as the employees at Steinmart here in Fort Myers, FL, are often very rude and just care to talk to their colleagus instead of taking care of customers.

I like their petite department and jewelry ... but customer service online is HORRIBLE!!

I like their petite department! They have a great jewelry selection. I shop in the store and online. I recently placed an order and picked the more expensive option for shipping so that it would NOT go through UPS, but through USPS. I have had MANY problems with UPS. Originally USPS had the delivery, but somehow it was handed off to UPS. It took me three days to find one of my packages AFTER it had been delivered and the second package I never received. Customer service was HORRIBLE ever time I had to call. Then when I called back to reorder the exact same items that were lost by UPS, the representative wouldn't honor the discounted prices of that I had when I ordered. I decided not to replace the items. Unfortunately, I doubt that I'll be ordering online with them again because of this. They have a store about an hour away, which I try to get down to every 2 months. I wish customer service wasn't as bad as it is. I wish they had shipped the packages the way I had ordered them.

Easy

I received an ad and coupon in my email. I then used the website to place an order and it was very easy and fast and applied my promo code for $10 off. Thanks. Looking forward to receiving my shipment. I also shopped the store in person and received excellent store assistance from the assistant manager with my shoes purchase and a special size request. Again, thanks. Love your prices!

I love this store!

I love this store! Only issue is returning items, so be prepared to pay shipping, unless you can get to a physical store.
The customer service has been wonderful. When ordering online, I forgot to apply promo codes two times and they issued a credit immediately.
Most items are exactly as described online.
