I don't know how I even signed up for this letter, but I am happy…
I don't know how I even signed up for the letter, but it really is a pleasant suprise everytime I get it in my inbox.
Keep is short, and fun but informative.
Not sure if I missed it somewhere, but I do love the mystery of who is putting this together when I stand in line at Woolworths ;)
Don't make it commercial - I love the old school honest reading.
Up for a good chuckle
At times a little repetitive, but always a good chuckle at this silly, self-obsessed little town first thing in the morning!
LOVE THE SBOSCH BRIEF
Looooove everything about the Stellenbosch brief: love how you describe things/experiences, love the humour, and simply just can't wait to be 'briefed' on things that happened and things to come: be it PRG boy'tjies with their kort broekies, or the Checkers trok reversing into a mini parking space. Please keep going!!!! 🤸♂️💪🍷☕️
Quick and witty read
Very informative. Witty and just the right amount of information to keep me reading. Also a very accurate vibe check.

Incredible & Witty
My favorite weekly read! So authentic & so Stellenbosch.
Excellent, quirky newsletter!
Love the intelligent and quirky style of writing!! I find the brief very informative and I always have a giggle or two whilst reading. Highlight of my day when I find it in my inbox in the morning! I am forwarding the link to all my friends to share in the fun.
Thank you!
Enjoyable once a month
The humour and tone of newsletter is great & uplifting. New interesting things happening around town are great to know about. Some content I find repetitive and then think perhaps a bi-monthly newsletter or even monthly would be better. Once a week too much for me - but that’s just my opinion ;)
Always a great read!
As newcomers to Stellenbosch, we’re so glad we discovered the Stellenbosch Brief. It’s become something we genuinely look forward to seeing arrive in our inboxes- it's light-hearted, entertaining, SO relatable, and informative in just the right balance. Each edition helps us learn a little more about Stellenbosch and feel more connected to the community, without ever feeling overwhelming or like it's a case of information-overload.
Love it 💙💚❤️
Love it, even if I live in Cape Town. I once was a Matie, and am a tour guide, so I get to Stellenbosch regularly.
Love the witty writing. Informative. Keep going.
Thank you 🤩 ❤️💙💚

What a great news letter
What a great news letter! I’m always reading it out to all and sundry, though I know my nearest and dearest are subscribers
Stellenbosch Brief: "Have you made me laugh!!?"
Have you made me laugh!!?
Yes, indeed … uncontrollably at times … genuine humour, drawn from the depths of real life right in front of our eyes. Which, ja, can be amazingly hilarious!
I’ve been “living” in the UK for just over 10 years. Inter alia, it’s enabled me to realise that we Saffa’s are most probably the most intelligently-funny people on this little planet of ours. Billy Connolly, et al need to makes things up … in SA, all one does is highlight them!
But, then, that’s where your very rare (beautifully-warped?) humour comes in … you take the (abundant) daily SA scenes happening constantly (emphasis on Stellies, of course) and make these scenes very, very lifelike. What I’m saying is that your humour is derived from real life, as it happens, but you have a knack of sharing this insightful humour in the most uniquely-hilarious ways. Often, I seriously can’t stop laughing …
Brilliant.
You’re beyond excellent. I can’t remember quite experiencing this kind of overly-witty humour about Saffa’s, ever in my life. Your grasp of language as well plays a large part in unpacking these funny, daily scenes with absolute expertise such that one cannot but literally “see” the various scenes popping out from your newsletters.
“Theatre of the mind” stuff. Nê?
So, no … no … you’re not “good”; you’re freakin’ excellent!
And, for sure … you distract me to no end; wonderfully! What a uniquely welcome, refreshing onslaught!
And, funny, because one heartily laughs at these real-life funnies, one remembers them so well!
It’s now an impressed routine – can’t move on with my life until I’ve read the latest inbox newsletter from you!
There’s a major addition to the real-life humour of these missives … you also add in much carefully-scribed philosophical snippets. It gets us closer to you and opens up many comforting conversational aspects to receiving such newsletters, inasmuch as we’ve pretty much had a real conversation with you across the table of one of Stellies’ many coffee shops (take your pick…). Thus, Stellenbosch Brief is so much more than a funny newsletter … it’s a real conversation, one which one is always keen to share with others.
You’ve done something magical here, my friend … you’ve somehow – using your acute literary skills and penetrating human insight – re opened up one’s eye’s to the real, magical, funny and warming side of (SA/Stellies) life which we too easily forget these days due to so much “stuff” going on around us.
I can go on a lot longer of course, but the above is a solid snippet describing the beauty of these very special newsletters.
Don’t go away anytime soon, please … you’re irreplaceable! I’ll nail this onto TrustPilot in a moment…
Warmest,
Dorian
