Our stay with Cornish Riviera Holidays in St. Ives was a disappointing experience defined by a total lack of service and a 'bare minimum' approach to hospitality.

The Major Issues:

Horrendous Parking Instructions: Despite the company’s claims, the parking guidance was confusing and lacked clear, arrowed visuals. This led to unnecessary stress and confusion upon arrival—hardly the way you want to start a holiday.

The 'Bare Minimum' Approach: The property was stocked with the absolute basics. For example, providing only two rolls of toilet paper for a multi-day stay and claiming this is 'the minimum viable' for Airbnb is a poor excuse for lack of service. It felt cheap rather than welcoming.

Excessive Cleaning Demands: Despite paying a significant service and cleaning fee, the 'House Rules' demanded that we handle our own rubbish and move it to external wheelie bins ourselves. It is a strange business model to charge for a service and then expect the guest to perform the labor.

Lack of Professionalism: Rather than acknowledging their confusing instructions, the company was defensive and used their public feedback to shift blame onto us.

Final Verdict: If you are looking for a stress-free holiday with actual customer support, look elsewhere. This company seems more interested in enforcing 'rules' than providing a quality guest experience. I would not book with them again.

Stayed at 2 Trevail Apartments a home from home break with everything needed for a comfortable stay including families or couples , a short stroll to the fantastic Portminster beach , harbour , town & lovely choice of restaurants. We will be back . Thank you 👍

Excellent customer service on telephone booking
Lovely cottage - clean, comfortable, cosy, high standard, ideal location (in the heart of the seaside village, near train station and bus route) and dog friendly. Would definitely stay there again!

The service from the original cottage holidays was fantastic, the property was just as we had hoped and we had a great time. St Ives is a beautiful coastal town, with fabulous scenery, great places to eat and quaint shops. Excellent walking routes, great for dogs and people who don’t mind walking.

Everything was really well organised.

The location and views were the main reason we chose this property. The only ( little thing) was the television was very small and the toilet brush was rusty, they're not expensive to replace. Loved staying there

Booked cottage in Downalong and received call and text 3 days before going that cottage roof had been damaged in gale. Fair enough these things happen. Cottage owner very kindly offered me use of parking space for free if I found cottage in St Ives. Was sent link to completely different company Holiday Cottages.co.uk with 6 suggested properties. Only 1 had 3 bedrooms which I needed but no address given. Tried to find out where it was. Was refered to 3 different companies as all said they didn't know anything about it and couldn't (wouldn't) help. Lots of usual Customer Services "We're so sorry" but no action. None of them had ever heard of the property and one of them had never heard of St Ives Holidays! Finally had to request full refund and complained to Customer Services about their lack of help. Received email back saying the limit of their liability had been fulfilled and saying I hadn't tried to get in touch. Clearly they just don't care. (Original Cottages)
You may need a holiday after dealing with this business. Have now booked a replacement with a very nice local rival but still no refund.

Stayed in an apartment on Fore Street, St Ives half term week. Apartment was nice enough with wonderful views BUT .. upon arrival I went straight to use the bathroom, only to find it hadn’t been cleaned. Literally filthy. Toilet with nasty skids, sink full of shaving foam and stubble etc. Phoned St Ives holidays, but they closed at 6pm, and it was 6pm. I had no option but to clean the bathroom myself. We payed £1000 for the week - I didn’t expect to be cleaning filth on arrival. I phoned the next morning and was told customer service would be in touch. I had a text saying the same I have been home almost 2 weeks and have had no contact. I emailed last week to officially complain, still no response. I would definitely not use this company again.

We've used St Ives holidays/ Original cottages for several years. Sadly this time their Customer service was so bad that we won't use them again. We arrived to find beds not made and place was dirty. 2 cleaners came to make beds and run vacuum around. But straight after they left we found lots more issues, rubbish left in kitchen, dirty socks of previous occupant left on the floor, dirty oven which filled the place with smoke. The furnishings were shabby, smelly and grubby. We contacted St Ives holidays 3 further times through the week and did not receive a single response. I see from other complaints they tend to ignore you and hope you'll just go away. Then on bad reviews they reply with "we're sorry you feel that the property...." rather than just apologising and admitting a mistake/ they're short staffed etc. The real measure of a company is how they deal with you when things go wrong. In this regard St Ives holidays/ Original cottages have fallen very short.

Location of property is good,onsite parking is a bonus only issue we had was missing laundry key but the company soon sorted this issue out.

Really perfect holiday from booking to enjoying the break

Really excellent location (you are at the shops or the harbour in seconds), property clean and had what you needed but is a bit tired. Access, outside space used to get to property and car park space are all very tatty, uneven and not suitable for anyone who is not sure footed. Car park space is sought after in St Ives but this one is tight, super uneven and gets blocked in...a lot! A large or lowish car would really struggle. Be mindful of shower if you have any mobility issues as half the door space is over the loo. Had good WiFi and mobile signal during our stay.

Apartment was un clean and dated. The views are great but it needs to be clean aswell . No welcome pack not even a tea bag . And no parking is a nightmare.

Good company to deal with and property as described. Chosen as they have an actual office in St Ives, so able to visit in person if needed during the holiday (which we did, to gain an extra key for the apartment).

Had a great holiday in a fabulous apartment. Great location and well equipped for a family of 4.

A really lovely, comfortable well equipped place to stay. It is situated right in the bay so all the amenities including one of the many beaches are on the door step!

Great cottage, all information shared in timely and efficient way

We have booked accommodation in St Ives 4 times with this company. The accommodation has always been superb and they have responded promptly to any problems or faults. We also needed to cancel one year, due to family health reasons and they were also very helpful with this. I will definitely use st Ives holidays /original cottages again for our bookings.
