Super special organic flour

Diverse wheat varieties organically grown in the south west of England, stone ground into a unique kind of flour, what more can you ask? The dough has a resilient texture and my first batch of loaves are malty, moist and delicious.

Contaminated and infested grains

Orders two 25 kg bags of Organic Spelt and Wheat grain and upon opening its full of debris and infested with tiny black insects. Upon raising this as concerning and since they use the same bags for making their flour, the response was shocking. Inspite of showing the photos they just snubbed it off as completely normal and that this will go thru the mill and should not be a problem. Well it may not be a problem to the seller as they just want to make money by selling rubbish, but its of great concern for the public who buy these products, especially when they buy the flour they wouldnt know what has actually gone into the mill. Only those who see the grain bags realise. I would never ever ever ever buy any product from this company. STAY CLEAR ... Keep Healthy !

Reply from Stoatesflour

Hello, the grain received was uncleaned grain from the farm as we had mentioned in our reply to you and this is how all grains that come into all mills come in. We then pass this through our vibrating sieve which leaves a clean grain behind. The grain you ordered was before cleaning (hence the price) and therefore would require a form of cleaning on your side.

We have offered a refund for the product on return and can arrange a collection, if you would still like to proceed with this then please just reply back to our email.

Excellent Flour

Just had first delivery and first two loaves are genuinely different from for instance M and S flour - better texture better taste and altogether a lot better than High St brands.
I have noticed the flour absorbs more liquid than usual flours. I still find the delivery charge just about acceptable but others do it cheaper. I am a total fan of this flour and it works very well in bread machines. Excellent.

Your goto place for pumpernickel supplies

I wanted to try making some pumpernickel and needed whole grain rye and cracked rye. These are difficult to track down on the high street, and very expensive per kilo on stores like Amazon. Buying direct from Stoates Flour was amazing. The quality seemed good, the price was great and they delivered 16kg to my house really quickly.

Really happy I have found Stoates…

Really happy I have found Stoates flour. I greatly appreciate that the flour is stone ground using water power. The bread tastes lovely, it’s a pleasure to work with, and the sourdough starter loves it. Shipping has been consistently fast and reliable. This will be my go-to mill now.
