We booked a hire car through Stones and within the hour the car was outside our hotel ready for us to use. We had no fault of the service, no hidden charges and would recommend this company, we were also able to pay on delivery.
We chose the cheapest car but soon regretted it as the Kia Picanto struggled going up hills.

Used these guys recently for a 1 week rental in Funchal, very impressed. The vehicle was very good, clean, reliable and low mileage. No issues handling Madeira's steep and challenging interior roads in various weather. Most of all though no excess - compared to average EUR 3,000 for the major hire companies unless you pay substantially more to reduce it - don't know how they manage to do it when the others can't but it gave me a lot of peace of mind. Also they were a pleasure to deal with.

We had a fantastic experience with Stones Rent-a-car! Everyone we dealt with from this company was so friendly and professional. Rosy brought the car directly to us in Funchal and gave us recommendations for things to do and see around the island - the hidden viewpoint in Seixal was incredible - thanks Rosy! The car was very new and such a smooth ride, which was great considering the steep and narrow roads.
When it came time to return the car, we were running a little bit late, and again, the company was so easy to contact, responded straight away, and they were so nice about it. We ended up meeting a few of the staff upon arrival and they were all lovely! We were even offered a lift to our hotel after - no strings attached!

We had very good experience with this company in Madeira, easy and very quick pickup and drop off in the airport, good and clean car, friendly staff. We booked a car with automatic transmission, Full Insurance, so didn't have any headache. It's a little bit expensive, but it worth. And my recommendation in Madeira to use automatic transmission, because of mountain roads are very steep, the clutch in a car with a manual transmission may be dead.
