These studio monitors are very good. I was looking for a small speaker for music practice at low volume that would be an accurate representation of what it might sound like at full volume. The HS5 does a very good job of exactly that. I was able to plug my bass amp DI output to the XLR input and also plug my via audio interface in via a TRS cable. There's a volume control knob at the back which really helps. They are very reasonably priced for such a high quality speaker.
Probably the best sounding monitors, it's hard to go back to any others.

They work better than expected, no colourisation of the sound, if it sounds bad then it is also bad on other devices. When you get the audio sounding good on these it sounds good on any other device I use, i.e. Bluetooth speakers, car speakers etc. Extremely happy with the speakers. Please note you must use balanced audio cables otherwise you get the Coco Pops sound (snap, crackle and pop).

Incredible sound quality. Used them for a house party and I promise you could hear the music clearly from down the street. They may look little but they pump!

Good compact speakers and accurate sound. Just what I needed for my extra set up for my music teaching studio.
I had long wanted to own some fabled Yamaha studio monitors and had been carefully vetting reviews of the HS5 active studio monitors over a period of time. I needed a compact design offering accurate reproduction. I am pleased to report that the HS5s meet this criterion very well. Although not offering the bass extension of their larger siblings, these monitors work in a nearfield situation to provide you with the reference information you need to produce good song masters. My units are wearing in, and the 5-inch cone is proving to be very revealing across the frequency spectrum. I am very pleased with this purchase.
Still in the box but keen to use them soon as I lost mu NS10s in the March floods.
Can't go wrong with this pair, excellent for the price. I use them for mixing and they get the job done, plus they pack a punch when it comes to loudness. Definitely reccomend if you're looking for something that gets the job done on a small budget.
Got a very good top end. But in terms of the low-end accuracy, it really debatable
