I have the Yamaha HS8S sub hooked up to my JBL 305p MK II's as a slightly more budget option than the JBL LSR310S Powered Studio Subwoofer and I'm more than happy its performance for my home studio.

There may be bigger but for the price nothing else comes close. I have to keep it way down so I don't disturb my neighbours, and it is crystal clear no matter the frequency. A great addition to my system!
I have a pair of HS8 speakers which were great but adding the sub makes the whole sound system sound wow!
