Alzheimers volunteer treatment appalling

We were approached as volunteers for a new Alzheimers trial drug. We travelled by train to London for a lunchtime meeting and with train delays we arrived a little later than expected and bore additional costs to get there via taxi from Waterloo. We were not provided with any food nor offered any lunch despite my husband having Alzheimers and needing regular meals. This was quite disturbing. The doctor who saw my husband was excellent but beyond that the care provided to volunteers was appalling particularly when we sought to claim expenses with receipts. Our claim was rejected in part as they said we could not claim for a hotel which we did NOT claim for, nor did we stay in a hotel. We bought sandwiches in a pub after the consultation and then another snack for train journey home in M & S. These costs were rejected AS beyond the budget! I cannot express enough that this company does not appear to care about their volunteers and only appear to be driven about the drug they are trying to seek approval for.

Mean Timewasters

Having already taken part in a clinical research project a few years ago with another company, I applied for a clinical research drug trial at St Pancras Clinical Research in London. They contacted me by phone to say they thought I would be suitable and gave me a telephone interview which lasted just over half an hour. I was later contacted by email to arrange a face to face interview and tests at their offices. Taking up a large part of the day, I went ahead with travel to their offices and a lengthy assessment and tests. I was then told I'd have another interview one evening (late time to accommodate USA assessor) the following weekend via a web link. This lasted an hour but took longer as I had to download an app and become familiar with that. The day after, I was phoned to say that they now didn't want me - no specific reason given, even though I asked. The fee quoted for volunteers was £250 for the first two interviews/sessions irrespective of if they went ahead with you or not. After their call they ceased all contact, completely ghosting me as they obviously did not want to pay anything and would not have done if I hadn't contacted them. I did contact them via email a couple of weeks later. It was obvious that they did not want to cover anything for my time/expenses. When pressed (after I sent 3 emails), they paid a paltry two figure sum in reimbursement which was nothing like that quoted and was a pathetic offering for the time I had spent. They are an extremely mean, unprofessional and ignorant company. If you are considering volunteering for a trial, go elsewhere. These people are devious and penny-pinching. I doubt their expertise and experience as they differ so much from their more transparent and fair competitors.
