Incompetent and ignorant customer service

Stripe customer services/support is a joke. You are literally dealing with clueless monkeys most of the time who do not understand how their own system works and are totally incapable of reading anything before hitting the reply button and sending you completely irrelevant nonsense and you just end up repeating everything again and again and again because they are so incompetent.

Security is also a joke, none of them have a clue about security or 2factor authentication or how it works. And if when it breaks, they will just tell you to disable it, which isn't even possible, as their system won't allow you to disable it, but when you point this out to them, they then patronize you with a response telling you why you should not disable 2FA, even though they are the ones who told you to disable it.

I am now so sick of dealing with them that I have decided to look for another provider for all 3 of my businesses.

Stripe are DISGUSTING SCAMMERS OF ThE…

Stripe are DISGUSTING SCAMMERS OF ThE MOST WICKED SORT.

THIS IS GOING TO BE WRITTEN ALL IN CAPS BECAUSE I AM SUPER ANGRY AT STRIPE.

ON 30TH AUGUST 2022 WE STARTED PROCESSING WITH STRIPE. OUR BUSINESS DOES INTERIOR DEISGN, WE SELL SERVICES AND PHYSICAL PRODUCTS.

WE ACCEPTED PAYMENT FORM OUR CLIENTS AMEX CARD FOR AN INVOICE OF APPROXIMATELY £50,000. WE KNEW THAT TRIPE - OOPS - MEANT STRIPE, ARE TOTAL STUPID PEOPLE BUT WE HAD NOT OTHER WAY TO SET UP A CARD PAYMENT ACCOUNT AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN WITH STRIPE. I ALREADY KNEW STRIPE ARE WELL KNOWN FOR WITHHOLDING FUNDS FROM LEGITIMATE BUSINESSES.

NOW, WE ALL KNOW THE ANTI MONEY LAUNDERING RULES THE BANKS HAVE US COMPLY WITH. OUR FIRST PAYMENT OF £10,0000 WAS never SUCCESSFULLY SETTLED (PAID TO US). THE 2ND AND 3RD PAYMENTS BOTH OF £10,000 EACH WERE NEVER PAID OUT AND STRIPE IMMEDIATELY LOCKED OUR ACCOUNT AND ENTERED THE PROTRACTED PROCESS OF REQUESTING PROOFS FROM US FOR:
- BUSINESS REGISTRATION
- VAT REGISTRATION
- PROOF OF ADDRES
- UTILITY BILLS
-PHONE RECORDS PROVING WE HAD A REAL LIVING CLIENT
- SCREENSHOTS OF WHATSAPP CONVERSATIONS WITH OUR CLIENT.

NOW, WE PROVIDED THIS ALL.

IN FACT WE PROVIDED IT NO LESS THAN THREE, YES YOU READ CORRECTLY, T H R E E TIMES!

IT SEEMS THEIR SYSTEMS ARE NOT SO GOOD AT ACCEPTING PROOFS FROM REAL PEOPLE WITH REAL CLIENTS.

IN THE INTERIM, WE HAVE SPENT OVER 40 HOURS ON THE PHONE, EMAILS AND CHATS WITH STRIPE.

TO NO AVAIL AT ALL.

I THEREFORE INSTRUCTED OUR CLIENT TO CANCEL HIS PAYMENT FROM HIS SIDE WITH AMEX. I DID SO BECAUSE I KNOW STRIPE CANNOT THEN WITHHOLD THE FUNDS FROM THE BANK THAT PAID TO STRIPE, THE PAYMENT RULES IN THE SYSTEMS ARE SUCH THAT IF A "CUSTOMER" CANCELS A TRANSACTION, YOU THE MERCHANT - CAN BE DEBITED FOR THE FUNDS AND COSTS UP TO SIX MONTHS (180 DAYS) AFTER THE TRANSACTION. NOW, THERE ARE VARYING FORMS OF THIS RULE BUT THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME EFFECT IN THE END, THE CUSTOMER CAN CANCEL. EVEN IF HE ACTUALLY HAS THE GOODS IN HIS HANDS HE IS ALLOWED TO CANCEL BECAUSE YOU THE MERCHANT IS ALWAYS, NOT SOMETIMES, NOT PERHAPS, NOT MAYBE, BUT ***ALWAYS*** AT FAULT.

I HAVE NOW INSTRUCTED MY CLIENT TO CANCEL HIS SECOND PAYMENT OF £10,000 WHICH FROM WHAT I KNOW ABOUT THE PAYMENT INDUSTRY THIS MONEY WILL BE RETURNED TO HIM IN A FEW WEEKS AT MOST.

THIS IS A MUCH SHORTER PERIOD THAN IF I ELECTED TO REMAIN A STRIPE CUSTOMER, WHCIH I AM NOT DOING. STRIPE CAN GO DO WHATEVER IT IS THEY WOULD WANT TO DO (READ INTO THAT WHAT YOU AS THE READ MAY READ WITH THE MOST EVIL OF EVIL IMAGINATIONS).

I AM KICKING MYSELF FOR HAVING TRUSTED THESE STUPID PROPLE AT STRIPE.

THEY ARE TOTAL SCAMMERS. JUST LOOK AAT THEIR TRUSTPILOT REVIEW SCORE...90% UNHAPPY CLIENTS!!!!

FOOL ME ONCE AS THEY SAY...

STRIPE CAN SERIOUSLY GO GET STUFFED.

STRIPE INSISTED I PAY £555.40 TO CLEAR MY OUTSTANDING FEES (FROM 3 DENIED TRANSACTIONS THEY FAILED TO SETTLE CORRECTLY) AND THEN REFIUSED TO PAY ME OUT MY MONEY.

AND YEAH I HAD STRIPE RESPOND WITHIN 15 MINUTES ON A TRUSTPILOT REVIEW I DID A WHILE BACK. WOW. THATS QUICK. THEY MUST BE WORRIED ABOUT REPUTATION. NOT! THYE COULDNT GIVE A FLYING CONTINENTAL DUCK. I EMAILED THEM A FULL TRNASCRIPT OF THE TIMELINE, SCREENSHOTS, AND THE PROOFS AGAIN, YES FOR A FFFFF OOOO UUU RRR TTT HHH TIME! AND? 48 HOURS LATER NOT A PEEP FROM THEM OTHER THAN TO SAY MY ACCOUNT IS LOCKED DUE TO BEING HIGH RISK.

I'LL TELL YOU WHO ARE HIGH RISK.

ITS YOU STUPID PEOPLE AT STRIPE.

I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THEM OR USE THEM AGAIN.

BELIEVE ME, I WILL GET ALL MY MONEY BACK.

Have stripe on an invoice account it’s…

Have stripe on an invoice account it’s built so can’t remove it, I only have it on if customers insist on using a card to pay, every time a payment goes through ask for proof of business, which I have sent numerous times. The larger the sum of money the longer they want to hold onto for. They say it’s to protect the customer but the money has gone out of there account and sits in there’s getting used for god knows what until they decide you can have your money. It says 7 days but I’ve waited a lot longer for large amounts, unbelievable bunch of t**ts, should be investigated for some of the stuff they pull.

Not on your side

I've used Stripe for my business for less than a year. Overall, they process payments at an acceptable cost and generally do it fairly efficiently.

However, their fraud prevention is non-existent. I've had multiple instances when customers have claimed payments back through their banks when they shouldn't have and Stripe did nothing to prevent this. They automatically take the money from your account and send it to the bank, along with whatever fee the bank chooses to charge. There's a dispute mechanism but it's meaningless and a waste of your time. How is a small business supposed to operate when hundreds of pounds can fly out the window at any time, with no meaningful way of preventing it? Stripe is on the side of the banks, not its customers.

In addition, fraudulent transactions occur because Stripe does nothing to prevent them. In one instance, I had a customer attempt to use several different cards in one transaction lasting just 2 minutes. They were all blocked except the last one, which still failed the zip and address checks. Of course, it was later flagged as fraudulent and Stripe took the money from me, plus a fee. So I wasted hours of my time on providing a service and I've lost money. Stripe doesn't care - it says preventing fraud is my job and that I could process payments manually. Who has the time for that? It isn't my job! I signed up to Stripe and pay their fees so that they can do this stuff for me. They refuse to accept responsibility for their actions and they don't support their clients.

Useless company.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

As a small business owner I warn you: STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

We have a small business selling shoes online and a customer placed an order on our website for around €3,500. We prepared the order, we made the shipment which was delivered to the same person who placed the order. (signed delivery note)

The customer then cancels their card payment and their bank opens a dispute that comes to us through Stripe. We provide all order data, customer communications and shipping tracking number as evidence that it was shipped and delivered. Two months later they told us that we had lost the case and that we must return that payment without any right to ask why and without any clear explanation.

Stripe washes its hands saying that they cannot do anything and then I wonder: how can we trust a company that is not capable of filtering if a payment is correct or fraudulent and two months later makes you return the money for the orders you have already shipped and delivered?

There are many other reliable companies, do not risk your money and your business with STRIPE sooner or later will be your turn.

Stripe UK have been mainly OK with me.

Stripe UK have been mainly OK with me.

I've been with them for over about 2 years. Not aware of any of the scams that are listed here. Maybe it's just the US where this happens.

I have Stripe integrated into Quickfile banking and also I have been paid by this method from a property rental company.
I've a couple of gripes.
1. Its difficult to see the name of the payee
2. I've given 4 stars, they would have got 5 stars but for one sneaky little ruse on payment. They hold my funds - lots of £££'s for 7 days before releasing them for me. Banks pay me within SECONDS. There is no reason other than greed to hold onto my money. Using my money for 7 days.
So, Stripe give this some serious thought, my rating was generous, it will drop to 3 stars if you don't stop this ruse. and I will be looking for other providers, that dont hang on to my money, in the meantime.
Stripe - sort it!

Dodgy business - they kept my money

I have had a shocking experience with this company. I have sold an Air Buds on the Marketplace (via Facebook) for £180 and regardless it was my first selling experience on there and I have never used their account before, I have never received the money. I have been told that my “business” is too dangerous and they closed the account, stoped communicating and kept the money. Just like that. Be careful with selling stuff on Facebook or using their account in general. I will persuade this matter further with law but you can save yourself a lot of troubles and loss if you avoid them.

They will create a sense of panic, urgency and fear of loss common in most online scams.

Stripe, like most large scale scammers, manipulate their customers by creating a sense of urgency, without any genuine rational, and a fear of loss in order to harvest sensitive financial data.
After being with Stripe for over a year, they asked us for invoices from our suppliers and blocked our payments. I said we were happy to send this info but would like to keep sensitive financial information and account numbers which are commonly found on invoices confidential. Stripe said no, they wanted everything exposed. Given that we had our payments blocked, we then said we could send un-redacted invoices but want re-assurance that these would never be shared outside of Stripe or any 3rd party. Stripe said they give no guarantees. When I reached out to John, Lio, Danny, Claire and May - all of whom had tried to pressure me into giving up sensitive financial data, none replied. Stripe Support ignored my emails. Michael Stone, the salesman who sold us the Stripe package, ignored us too. We tried getting in touch through the dashboard and were ignored too.
By far and wide Stripe are the worst online payments provider in the World. They couldn't care less however, as they focus on massive multi nationals and give them all the focus while ignoring everyone else, while dodging every tax on Earth. I'm sure that John and Patrick Collison will be the focus of a Netflix documentary one day, once they are in jail.
Any SME business reading this, all businesses have to solve problems - Stripe is not a problem worth solving, save your self the headache and use Opayo, ApplePay or the others.

DREADFUL DO NOT USE FOR ANYTHING

DREADFUL DO NOT USE FOR ANYTHING. Being offered this company via Facebook as a alternative to PayPal (because you can’t use PayPal or anyone else) for Facebook Marketplace. They offer no clarity on who is paying you, so you have to use the details you receive from Facebook chat…. Basically “a buyer” was able to access someone else’s account ON STRIPE and used there account to purchase an item from me!! Now STRIPE are telling me that’s it’s my responsibility and I have to pay the monies back, PLUS additional fees because of there Lapses in addressing fraud and fraudsters accessing accounts! As I was a new user of STRIPE they advised they would sit on my funds for almost 10 working days to ensure the transaction was agreed. Then they paid the funds into my account….Bang on the 11th day the transaction was fraudulent according to STRIPE and they wanted all this evidence from me and they wanted to charge for the fact the transaction was fraudulent. SO MY ADVICE IS DON’T USE THEM FULLSTOP. I have the feeling the good reviews on here are probably people who work for META. Even the UK Fraud Action line advises not to use them and my Bank. If only I knew about this before trusting Facebook META… just one big fraudulent company.
