A great service from start to finish. Lovely, helpful people at the end of the phone line when I wanted to arrange a furniture collection. Two very willing guys arrived on time and took wardrobes etc etc down two flights of stairs on a hot day without complaint. Thank you!

Have just tried to visit the catford store which opening hours are stated 9-5 . Me and my partner walked upto the store and a lady closed the door in our face stating that they are closed (16:40p.m. 02/09/19). Before I could say anything she closed and then locked the store even though we could see a customer at the till. This is unacceptable behaviour and not sure if the door was closed on us because of another motive. Gender, skin colour or the fact she just wanted to close early and get home.I will not be shopping here again. If your hours state you close at 5 then your doors should legally be open to trade till those hours. If this gets to customer service. Please review video tapes in store to back up my claims.

Absolutely disgusted with the customer service at the Knottingley store! I paid £250 for a three piece suite on Saturday, I explained that I couldn't arrange delivery until today 25/7/19 due to family commitments, only to find a photo of the said suite posted on Facebook asking 'Could the customer who bought this sofa from us on Saturday please contact the shop asap please!!' To say I am furious about this is an understatement, the humiliation I felt must have been apparent to the keyboard warrior who posted this, but maybe that was their purpose all along. I have boycott this store before after staff were rude to my elderly mum, but I can assure you I will NEVER set foot in that shop again! I suggest you send your volunteers/managment on a customer care course. Delivery has been arranged for this afternoon and a strongly worded complaint will be winging it's way to the head office!!

Didn't turn up. Didn't help when I phoned.
Had the same experience as others in this feed today.
Had a very prompt response to my request for furniture collection on Saturday. They only collect on Monday afternoons in my area, so they booked me in for today. I asked my retired father to come and stay at my house as I couldn't work from home at that short notice.
I was given a 1-5pm slot. I rang at 4.30pm and was told that we were on the list for today, but they had no way of contacting the driver.
The driver never turned up.
They wasted mine and my father's time. And when I asked them directly, they said there was nothing they could do.
I won't be donating here again.

I bought a sage green double wheelie bin hide from the Sue Ryder website. I was given a 10% discount automatically and was not charged extra for delivery despite living on an island. The product arrived promptly on the date I was expecting it, it was well packaged and all components were present. It was easy to construct and well made, and has been admired by several people already. I would say that the instructions leave a bit to be desired, but it's easy enough to work it out for yourself. I would recommend their website to friends and family without hesitation.

Thanks for other review writers, I wanted to buy something worth £300 buy after reading the reviews I am not buy from this website.
I think they should invest on their customer services, otherwise they would keep loosing the customers.

I really wish I'd read these comments before bothering to arrange a furniture collection with these people.
Collection arranged for today between 1 and 5 and also arranged for the driver to call before coming.
At 4:30 I called them on their 0333 number. They keep you on the phone long enough and then more time with them trying to contact the driver and a manager... both of whom they could not reach.
They apologised and offered a re-scheduling which, of course, I declined as they obviously haven't got control over their staff / volunteers. Plenty of other charities who would like the items.
A day wasted.

Thanks for the generic response from SR - this won't really change the culture of the way Sue Ryder shops are run. Reading the reviews, are they all the same people employed in shops?

Rude staff member. I asked how much the cushions were. I was told they were only being sold with the sofa. The cushions were from Debenhams and the sofa was not so I couldn't understand why this staff member was being so pedantic and saying the sofa would be 'naked' - seriously do you train them to be so ridiculous. You could have made extra money on top of the sofa for the charity. Appalling.

This charity would appear to have a new line to book collection of donations; it does not matter what time of day one calls they are always experiencing a high call volume. The odd thing is one gets this recording on a loop until you get to be caller number 5. Waited on 3 occasions for over 30 mins, before the call is disconnected. One therefore wonders if this is a tactic the charity is engaged in to get funds.
Another point of observation is that when one finally gets through to someone the quality of the call handling is beyond poor. I have booked a collection for today February 20, 2019 between 1 and 5pm- taken the time off work to accommodate these people at the time of writing this review at 16:57 no one has turned up ( this as well as calling and have been on a loop holding for over 35 mins of which I have been caller number 2 for the last 15 mins). I will be looking for a new charity as of today. This is not the first time this organisation has wasted my time, or I have reasons to complain. This is a TOTAL DISGRACE. Sue Ryder RESPECT peoples time and efforts.
No one turned up NOT even a call to say they were not coming - wasted day now book with BHF and MIND as my preferred charities!

Ordering was easy, delivery was quick with excellent tracking and arrived at the time I was told and was well packed to give suitable protection in transit. I was delighted with the quality. The item was exactly as described robed. Well done. I will certainly use this site again.

Me and my wife went to Maidstone Sue Ryder shop on 16/12/2018, we bought a dining furniture and 2 wardrobes, before we pay we mentioned that our door width small and whether the dining table will get in and also we mention that we we have back entrance as well from where British Heart foundation and argos already delivered the more bigger and wider furniture from the back entrance, if you need i can produce all those evidence. the lady manager and the gentleman on the buying date were really very helpful and supportive and said if items unable to get in then money will be refunded, nothing was mentioned at that point that delivery charge will not be refunded, i repeat nothing was mentioned at the buying time that delivery charge will not be refunded, delivery man found the entrance to narrow without even trying and said back door entrance is not safe for them, but i need to mention again that British Heart foundation and Argos already deliver from there, they did not do the delivery and said to go to the store for refund, due to my job type I only managed to go today(22/12/2018), today there was different lady manager, who is so rude, non- supportive, not listening to my point, only saying delivery went to your door, found not safe, came back and your delivery charge will not be refunded, this is the policy, i was repeatedly trying to say that I was not informed while buying that delivery charge will not be refunded, if they would have mentioned it at buying time about delivery charge then I would not have taken a risk of losing £25 and and would not have ordered it anyway, i wanted to see the policy of not refunding money if not been informed in written which manager did not show me, instead she ignored me and left the scene passing the matter to another lady. me and my wife were really shocked with behaviour of a Charitable Trust shop manager with the customer and their problem. Now my request to you to solve the problem as soon please or else I will be bound get help from media, social media or proper authority with all my evidence.
I have attached the bill for your kind notice, have look that only £145 refunded out of £170.
this is the receipt of what we paid and they refund.

Hello Swarup, thank you for sharing the photo. As I mentioned in my reply to your wall post, I will pass this on to the shop's area manager to investigate further. If you're happy to share your email address with us, then I will ask the area manager to respond to you directly.
Best wishes,

We have received a missed call from Sue Ryder yesterday and I was working that is why couldn’t pick up the call but I called back today twice and both occasions one of your male team member said by mistake they call, my question is how come after so many days someone can call by mistake, as you have asked for my email address in messenger and I have given.
This is the conversation after the complain, they have asked for my email which I have given but the area manager does not bothered to reply, but definitely I will not stop here, I will ask for help from Citizen Advise Bureau, news paper and any more social media.

This is wrong as this is a charity shop and depends on our custom .

Sue Ryder Littlehampton.
We donate a lot of items to Sue Ryder. Today we took in 4 sacks and a headboard. My heart sank when I saw what manager was on ! The young man working as a volunteer was very helpful he hepled carry the headboard and then the sacks as im disabled
The manager came up and I thought she was going to help. Oh no , she just wanted the card in my hand. She didn't at any point say thank you to us for the donation! This manager looks at you as if you are something she trod in , and looks down at you. I felt like saying that I would take the donation to the other charity shop who has better manners. Nobody I know likes her as she seems to think she is better than anyone else! At times I have not stopped if she was on duty. She's small with brown short hair and slim build.
It takes nothing to say " Thank you for your donation " .

Very rude manager at Kings Heath branch Birmingham today . On trying to speak to her about the unacceptable state and price of garments on sale she kept asking where I was from or was it just my personal opinion. As I walking to the door she shouted ‘ is that it then ? Are you done? I returned and told her I was not happy with her attitude.

I will not shop here again! I've shopped here a lot, probably spending £10 per visit at least. Today I spent £14.00 and this will be my last visit.
Both managers are rude and unhelpful - they don't seem to like people browsing and are only interested in those who spend. I've heard the assistant manager calling children 'brats' after they have left ( unjustifiably) and she was rude to my 2 boys today when they wished to try something on - telling them they shouldn't be in the changing room - and not apologizing when they told her they were trying on.
Overpriced stock, rude staff, only interested in profit with no customer care, no please or thankyou!
My last visit was today. I shall be taking my custom elsewhere from now on!

I Absolutely will not be back again! Which ultimately means the charity shop loses money. This in itself goes again the entire ethos the Charitys Commission promotes of making money for the charity. Not to mention the financial services ombudsmen ethos of ' treat the customer fairly'!.
The shopping experience has left me emotionally scarred, Considering the women who inflicted the offences herself was physically disabled, you would especially expect her to understand fully that discrimination on any level is unacceptable. Unfortunately this was not the case today tue/ 5th/ June 2018).
How dear she follow myself and daughter around the store, based on our appearance alone, as we were doing nothing out of the ordinary then browsing like every other customers, who were not followed. This is unacceptable. Since I affiliate with an areas which upholds the law, I object to being treated as a criminal and in a discriminatory manor.
She literally followed us everywhere we browsed, To a point my teenage daughter told her she was literally on top of her, as was entrapped in a small space. This entrapment made us fear for our personal space and safety. She came so close we could feel her warm breathe on us. The experience left my young daughter shaken, alarmed and distressed.
This women ABSOLUTLY should be no where near the public, when she displays such ignorance , racial bias and unsatisfactory customer experience. I hope she will be reprimanded and removed from the store, as she is clearly an unprofessional liability. I will be contacfimg the ombuman
