I bought my evo comp from Summit Cycles…

I bought my evo comp from Summit Cycles over 2 years ago, and have put over 2000 miles of hard use on it. The bike was starting to creak and gears slipping, so booked it into Beics Brenin for a service. When i took the bike in and i was getting it registered on their system the technician Grant was having a quick check over the bike. Within 30 seconds he had diagnosed all the problems and what the bike needed. They sorted the bike the same day and it rides just as it did 2 years ago. They dont try and rip you off by selling you the dearest parts, just the parts that your bike needs. They are VERY professional and i will always use them. Thankyou

Fantastic Service (again)

I feel I have to give another review, having experienced the most amazing follow-up service from Summit Cycles. I bought a second hand mountain hand bike from them a few weeks ago and there was a small issue with the rear shock. They not only agreed to pay to service the shock, but when it was found to have a manufacturing defect which wasn't covered by warranty because the bike was over two years old, they supplied a brand new shock as 'the right thing to do', rather than quibble and inform me that the bike was no longer under warranty. I think this demonstrates a commitment to customer service which is really unusual and I'm very grateful.

I used to use them, never again

I used to use them, however if you google most of what they sell it is massively expensive, google the item and you will be guaranteed to find it a LOT and I mean a LOT cheaper elsewhere.

I also have a 100% LEGAL professionally converted bike with a 250w bafang motor, they would not even change the brake pads for me.

What your LBS is supposed to be like

NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH SUMMIT BICYCLES of the USA! Yeah seriously the reviews that one is getting compared to Summit Cycles of Wales? Night and Day…
Beics Brenin of Coed Y Brenin and Summit Cycles of Aberystwyth; These are what your LBS is supposed to be like.
Friendly, informative, helpful, stocking useful equipment and parts whilst also acting as a hub for the local cycling community. Even on costs they remain competitive and aren’t trying to profit from their location! So, money in mouth, here’s some examples:
Back in June’23 I picked up some Endura kit on sale that’s been in use ever since. Today I picked up a Bergtec bar for the same price most of the internet shops are selling it for (and cheaper than some).
Back in June Summit offered me good advice about my riding that really helped. Today Beics let me wander in and out of the shop with various bars to compare to the ones on mine.
Beics also passes the stock test: If you brought a frame, tools and a credit card, you could build a bike outside the shop and go ride it. Very useful if/when your skill runs out mid-descent. Summit probably does to but how are you doing that much damage to your bike in Aberystwyth?!
This all means they get 5* whilst I wish I wasn’t a tourist here so they were my LBS.
