We were really looking forward to staying at Sunflower Park, especially with the animal rescue aspect, but sadly the experience was very disappointing.
From the start, there was no welcome or proper guidance on arrival. Our pitch was nothing like advertised — it was just sand and large rocks, no grass at all, making it very uncomfortable for camping.
When I asked to move pitch, I was questioned rather than helped, and no alternative was offered.
The biggest issue was being wrongly accused of not paying my pitch fee. I was asked to provide a screenshot of my bank statement, which I did — and even then, they refused to accept that I had paid. There was no apology and no accountability from management, which was really frustrating.
To make matters worse, one of the staff had a go at my son just for walking near the geese. When I explained that he has additional needs, they wouldn’t even listen. The way it was handled was very rude and upsetting.
The animal care was also worrying. Some of the smaller animals didn’t appear to have fresh water, and in general, the welfare didn’t seem to be a high priority.
The facilities were okay but not cleaned regularly enough. For the price, the experience definitely wasn’t worth it.
On a positive note, we enjoyed the woodland walks and had a nice time fishing — we did catch a few fish. There’s also a lovely local ice cream parlour just a 9-minute drive away.
Unfortunately, the overall experience was not what we hoped for. I wouldn’t recommend it, and we won’t be returning.
