Too good to be true
It all sounds very plausible but when you do a little digging the arguments Sunsave put forward do not stand up. Firstly the price they quoted me for installation and equipment was twice that I received elsewhere for two fewer panels and a slightly lower spec battery. I accept they will probably replace the inverter and battery over the twenty but those costs would not equate to double. The worst part about Sunsave's sales pitch is they forecast that the price of electricity will increase over the next twenty years by the same amount it did between 2000 and 2020 which they quote as 192%. Industry specialists have told me that electricity prices are likely to drop over the next twenty years because of the increased use of renewables. Predicting future electricity costs is very risky but two specialist suggested a reduction in cost of between 18 - 23%. That means the Sunsave scheme is likely to cost you money. BEWARE. Don't be fooled by the slick operation.

1. Sunsave Plus is a financial product, with a 20-year guarantee - it’s different to a typical solar install, and so is the cost
Sunsave Plus is a complete solar solution, with a comprehensive guarantee, including free replacement parts, insurance, monitoring, and maintenance for 20 years - so it’s not really comparable to a typical solar install. Sunsave Plus allows customers to see instant net savings on their energy bills without upfront cost, but a traditional solar model takes years to payback.
Like any financial product, it includes an interest rate, in our case fixed at 3.4%, which is very competitive compared to other offerings that have higher rates and/or monthly payments that rise annually with inflation. This lets customers lock in the price of the majority of their energy for 20 years, to protect against inflation.
2. Our EPVS approved energy price inflation estimates are a reasonable view of what may happen in the future, based on historic data and expert industry advice
The 5.5% projection we use is based on the average increase in electricity prices between 2000-2020. Over 20 years, 5.5% inflation would result in a 192% increase on your bill. Your new bill would then be 292% of what it was originally, but the percentage increase is 192%.
We feel our projections are a reasonable view of what may happen in the future, and are fairly conservative compared to the recent past - using 2000-2024 inflation would be 6.4%, for example.
Our savings methodology, including our energy price projections, are approved by EPVS, a national certification standard that validates energy-saving estimates.
Opinions vary, but the consensus from energy companies and industry experts like Cornwall Insight is that energy prices will remain high. Some predict that they’ll rise much higher than we project. During a recent committee meeting in parliament, Octopus Energy’s Director for Regulation and Economics said: “If we continue on the path that we are on right now, in all likelihood electricity prices for a typical customer are going to be 20% higher in four or five years’ time than they are now”.
Since Sunsave Plus payments are fixed, if energy prices rise by more than we predict, you'll save more than expected, and many Sunsave Plus customers are saving significantly more than we projected.
3. We’re authorised and regulated by the FCA and we’re required to treat customers fairly, and provide savings calculations that aren’t misleading

We take this responsibility very seriously - we conduct regular fair value assessments of our products, and closely monitor customer feedback and outcomes, including savings.
4. We’re transparent, and upfront about savings
Ultimately, no-one can predict the future, so we encourage customers to do their own research and come to their own conclusions. With Sunsave Plus, while we guarantee your system will be in top condition for 20 years, we don’t promise or guarantee savings, as we can’t control energy prices. We’re upfront about our methodology, and if we don’t think you’ll make significant savings with solar, we’ll always let you know (many of our Trustpilot reviews speak to this).
If you think energy prices will fall 18-23% in the near future, getting solar (with Sunsave or otherwise) wouldn’t make sense.
You gave us feedback regarding how clearly we signpost our projections and calculations in our proposal and sales process. We already include ‘estimate’ or ‘estimates’ frequently in our proposal, but we’ll look at ways we can make this even clearer. If you have any more feedback, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

From the consultation through to the support I have received through the year after my first contact with Sunsave, everything has been smooth, friendly and they have been very helpful.
The installation itself was painless. They arrived on the days they said they would. It was completed in the timeframe they advised. The install itself is very neat and tidy, and the install team left no mess at all, and were very friendly.
Post install, the contact from Sunsave has been regular, with views on System Performance, and any questions I have they have answered them quickly and with the detail I needed.
Absolute pleasure to deal with, and the savings I am seeing are significantly more than the projected savings!

Service was great from start to finish…
Service was great from start to finish we was dealing with Mo predominately and Sophie while Mo was off - took around 8 weeks from initial enquiry to full installation. was really informative and professional all the way through the varying 3rd party contractors are also 5* very clean and definite eye for detail, couldnt praise the electrician enough Tom from Heron had all the time to listen to us and how we wanted the cable routing around the property for it to blend in best and definitely kept it looking neat tidy and professional.

Really easy and kept up to date…
Really easy and kept up to date throughout the process. Sophie has been fantastic and answered any questions I had. Henson Electrical who fitted the panels and completed the wiring were first class. The roofer noticed some broken tiles and replaced for me without me asking. Would 100% recommend sunsave.

Honest, informative and good install.
Very honest about whether it would be worth it or not, wasn’t unless we were getting an ASHP due to our low level of electric use, we are getting one so got the panels and battery. Good comms all the way through and very happy with the install.

Whilst they didn’t find evidence of poor workmanship, they shared a report with recommendations for what you could try next to address the breaker tripping issue you’ve been experiencing.
We’ve also been clear that since your 2-year Sunsave Standard workmanship warranty expired in January this year that work would come with a charge. With that in mind, our team have tried their best to support you, and given you a quote and recommendation on the right breaker to buy.
We’re still more than happy to send our team out to make the repair, for the quote we’ve discussed. If you’re interested in this, please get in touch by email.

Great company and product
I came to Sunsave through Hive. They are more expensive than a conventional installation but offer a monitored, insured product throughout the 20 year plan. One of the most attractive parts to me was the promise of a battery and inverter replacement after 12 years or so when the battery has degraded. As this is one of the most expensive parts of the system, it just seemed like a sensible approach, but unlike normal insurance, you know you will be claiming on this for sure in the future.
The installation was generally excellent. The only issue I had was the amount of debris and rubbish left at the end after the scaffolding was removed. This was dealt with promptly by Sunsave though.
The initial remote survey designed the system with 10 panels. A few days before the installation, I was told it would only be 9 due to my roof shape, and this was further reduced to 8 when the installers went up and realised what they could actually do. This was a little annoying but, again, Sunsave dealt with it well, and in reality, I haven't really noticed much difference in the electricity generation. It just needs slightly longer to charge the battery and, in general use, generates far more electricity than I need so I am selling plenty back to the grid.
The system integrates brilliantly with the Hive app, as well as offering it's own app where I can schedule the overnight battery charge to make use of the cheap rate tariff.
Even my wife, who was very sceptical of the whole thing, is impressed and likes checking out the app to see the free electricity we're generating!
I highly recommend Sunsave and the product they offer.

Honestly couldn’t fault Sunsave Energy at all. From day one they’ve been professional, friendly, and really easy to deal with. The communication has been great throughout — I was kept in the loop at every stage and always knew what was happening.

Great service from my first enquiry, to final fitting of the system.
Fitters turned up on a day with a yellow weather warning for wind, but carried on with the Installation.
All done in 2 days as promised.
It's been 2 weeks since Installation and my Electric use from the Grid has reduced by 98%, but all been off peak.

Excellent service, installation and support...
From beginning to end and in fact beyond the expected end continue to get great service. Have just had contact configure my batteries for overnight low cost charging which means more daytime production goes to export at a higher rate. Explanation of solar system and its benefits, planning and installation (in one day!) was great. Have had no issues since installation and we are supplying 100% of our electricity needs. Our installation cost is £106 per month minus savings on provider electric and our export earnings. No upfront cost!. Is a great way to go solar.

Argumentative and Patronising
Just off a Teams call with the most argumentative and abrupt person I’ve ever encountered.
I challenged the numbers on the quote and he didn’t like it at all! He couldn’t get off the call quick enough towards the end when I still had questions
I was reluctant to provide a copy of my bill as I don’t think it’s appropriate, but produced factual usage on the call even breaking down month by month he didn’t want to give the time and huffed and puffed.
Nice one Sunsave I’ll also huff and puff away from your company. More training needed to the guy who called me, I just wanted to know facts and true information.
