I wrote a job brief on the website of superhandyman.online and received a recommended handyman almost minutes after my submission even on a Sunday which I thought was cool.
I had a no. of conversations with the recommended handyman - Gary and sent lots of pictures and close ups to explain the jobs in detail. Initially he said he would come to see the job first, then was unable to make it, so we rescheduled another day and he said as he was in Acton and I was in North London he said he could probably come do the job the same time he came to look so I said okay, we'll see how it goes as it wasn't a difficult job around a 1/2 day.
On the morning he called to say he had missed the bus stop and I thought oh oh bus? if he is on the bus is he able to carry the necessary tools for the job, My son graciously went to collect him to save time. (Amidst the complaint of "why can't people just use google maps"?.
Gary was very personable and showed us pictures of some of his work, which looked to be of a really good standard, but we quickly realised he did not have the right tools for the job which he said was on another job and was being used. So after about an hour of talking and planning of other jobs I had to do, we rescheduled again for a couple of days later and my son dropped him back to the bus stop. Unfortunately he did not arrive on the day. My son was waiting for him I had to go to work and I called and he apologised and said he meant to text to say his other job had run over, I said okay as I was at work that day and preferred to be on hand anyway so we rescheduled again for 3 days later.
The day before I texted just to make sure he was okay to attend and I received no response back, in the morning I called and he said his mother was unwell. I said I'm sorry to hear, he said he would call me later .....he did not. I decided to wait a day to be fair then decided to call the company back from whom I did the booking and explained. The telephone operator apologised profusely and said this was not good and he would investigate and call me back ...cue tumbleweeds or white noise....Nothing, Nada not even from the company itself, they never called me back. I wanted to put a review on their site and then realised you can't they have static reviews but no real time reviews so there is no real bookings shown and no people to feedback on their service. Reviews are enormously valuable and protective for us consumers, against time wasters and poor and dangerous workmanship. I will leave the value of whether to use this company or not to those who read this.. Happy to substantiate pictures texts communications if at all necessary but I somehow suspect it won't be.
