Flexible, efficient service
Great experience – the surveyor was professional and friendly and very efficient. We appreciated the flexibility when we needed to reschedule at short notice. The only frustrating things were the use of an AI bot when you call on the phone, and the large number of calls back for no reason – every time you call and speak to someone, another member of staff then calls back a few minutes later to ask why you called (as though you hadn't spoken to anyone) and this gets very spammy. However, overall would highly recommend!

Great team and excellent report
As part of our loft extension risk assessment we used Supernova to ensure there was no asbestos in the loft or ceilings. The team were very professional; the subsequent report was helpful giving our construction team everything they needed before they commenced.

Agreed scope not followed, poor communication, and partial refund only offered after challenge
I booked an asbestos sampling service with Supernova Group for a property I was purchasing. The quotation I accepted clearly stated that 2 samples would be taken and analysed.
After the survey, I received a report showing only 1 sample had been taken, with no explanation provided. I had to follow up myself to even receive confirmation that the survey had been completed, and only after querying the results was I told that the surveyor had decided a second sample was “not needed” because the materials appeared identical.
This decision was made without any prior discussion or agreement, and it was also not documented in the report, which is concerning given that such reports are relied upon for safety and property decisions.
While I understand that surveyors may use professional judgement, the service I paid for was clearly defined as two independent samples. Sampling and lab analysis are meant to provide definitive results, not assumptions based on appearance.
Supernova did offer to return and take a second sample or provide a partial refund. However, the refund offered was only £54, as they later re-framed the cost as £157 + VAT for the sampling element. From my perspective, I paid for two samples and received one, so the value received was significantly less than expected.
Overall, the issue was less about the sample itself and more about poor communication, lack of transparency, and not delivering the agreed scope of work. The matter could have been avoided entirely with a simple conversation or proper documentation at the time.
I appreciate their willingness to engage and offer a resolution, but the experience has left me with reduced confidence in both the process and the final report.

The quotation provided covered up to two samples where required. During the survey, our qualified surveyor assessed the materials on site and, using professional judgement in line with industry guidance, determined that a second sample was not necessary as the materials were consistent in appearance and construction. This approach is standard practice and helps avoid unnecessary disturbance.
As the survey was carried out without the client present on site, there was no opportunity to discuss this decision at the time. However, once you raised your query, we responded promptly with a clear explanation.
We also offered two resolutions to address your concerns: a return visit to take an additional sample at no extra cost, or a partial refund for the unused sampling. These options were provided to ensure flexibility and a fair outcome.
We do not agree that there was poor communication, as we engaged with your queries and provided both clarification and reasonable solutions in a very timely manner.
We take all feedback seriously, but we are confident that the service was carried out professionally and that appropriate resolutions were offered.
If you would still like us to arrange the additional sample, this option remains available.

Really disappointed in this company
Really disappointed in this company. They wished to perform an asbestos survey at my home on behalf of vendors because I was selling.
When I spoke then them to arrange the time to come to my home they stated that the sample they would be taking would be a very small one.
However, what was taken was not small and left the front of my home where the sample was taken from looking awful.
They refused to put it right stating that they were working for the buyers and not me. At no time even when the chap arrived to take the sample did they tell me that the sample they would be taking would be so large and leave the house looking awful.
Please do not allow these people onto your property to take the sample. They left my home awful.

To provide context: our survey was commissioned by the prospective buyers of the property, not by yourself. As part of a pre-purchase asbestos survey, we are required to collect representative material samples for laboratory analysis — this is a regulatory requirement under HSG264 and cannot be avoided.
Our surveyor explained the sampling process at the time of the visit. The size of sample required depends on the material type and is determined by our UKAS-accredited laboratory's requirements. We always aim to minimise disruption, but adequate samples are essential for accurate results.
As our contractual obligation was to the instructing party, any making-good of sampling points would need to be agreed with them. We did offer to discuss this further but understand this was not taken up.
