I have had many lesson requests from Superprof and they continue to support what I'm doing in my field.

This is a scam
This is a scam. Do not sign up for Student Pass. I attempted to contact a tutor (who accepted the assignment but later said he could not carry out the work). As soon as this had happened I had been charged. Approaching the date, there was no suitable contact. The lesson did not take place and no further tutors were available in the local area. I have requested a refund which has been refused. I have a call scheduled with Citizen's advice regarding a referral to Trading Standards under the following failiures:
they scammed you - for example, you paid for something online that you didn’t receive
they tried to stop you using your legal rights - for example, they said you can’t return faulty goods
they didn’t carry out work properly
I have been met with insufficient customer service despite testimony from the tutor concerned (who could not carry out the work). A simple refund would have solved this issue but the strong-arm tactics employed so far are reflected in their poor Trust Pilot score of 3.5 in UK. I shall be pursuing this strongly.
Superprof's stock response (see below), as usual, fails to address the issue, here. The issue of goods of the required quality not being recieved and the consumer's right to a refund under these circumstances (protected by law). I have not received any benefit from the company, have requested a refund and been refused. I have provided evidence, been open to a solution (involving a refund) and have only recieved one email from them refusing the refund. This is not customer service and is another example of how I have been failed in this transaction. My next recourse, should my legal rights not be respected is to complete the suggested referral to trading standards.

Flexible and easy to use as a tutor.
If I could give less than one star….
If I could give less than one star I would. A free first lesson offer thinned into a £40
Charge. There was me thinking that the £40 would not apply as the person I was considering was offering a free lesson. Nope the £40 is for the platform sending them as message. The tutor then couldn’t reply with the details needed. I chose not to go with the tutor as they appeared to be local (support local) but are actually registered to a London address and not local and online only so could even be based anywhere. I tried to get my money back from super prof but they figure sending and email is worth £40. I want nothing to do with this platform it offers the student nothing but people that you can spend a little more time in seeking directly. An utter rip off who will not refund me.

Avoid
Avoid. Feels like a rip off. I contacted one tutor who accepted to connect with me but not my terms. I have argued for a refund as the tutor doesn’t agree to face to face despite advertising she does and they won’t respond.

Terrible experience
Superprof is a total racket. I entered my details for an initial lesson. I wasn't matched with anyone and I never took any lessons up.
They continued to charge my card for 6 months without consent. When i wrote to them they refused to issue a full refund despite not signing up and never using their service.

Superprof is very much a user-friendly…
Superprof is very much a user-friendly platform with a great offer of variety of tutors. Communicating with students, scheduling lessons, and receiving payments is very intuitive. There are also ways to leave reviews both for students and tutors alike. Overall, highly recommend.
What looks like a simple tutoring…
What looks like a simple tutoring platform is, in reality, a paid access system where you are charged just to try and make contact.
The key issue is that the subscription is not tied to actually receiving a lesson or even getting a response from a tutor. You pay for the opportunity to message, and that’s where the value largely ends. Whether anything comes from it is irrelevant to the billing.
The setup puts all of the risk on the user. If a tutor doesn’t respond, cancels, or disappears, you are still charged. There is no meaningful safeguard for the person paying.
After using it, it becomes clear that the platform is structured in a way that works far better for those advertising their services than for those trying to find them.
Overall, it’s a frustrating experience and difficult to justify paying for, especially given how little is guaranteed in return.

A genuine question regarding the…
A genuine question regarding the reviews on this platform.
Why do so many of the positive reviews appear to come from tutors rather than students? As someone using the service from the student side, the experience can be quite different from what these reviews suggest.
Also, could tutors clarify whether they receive any kind of encouragement or benefit for posting positive reviews? The platform states that incentivised reviews are not allowed, yet the volume and tone of tutor reviews seem unusually enthusiastic.
It would be helpful for potential users to better understand how these reviews come about, as they play a big role in building trust in the platform.

Superprof’s business model relies…
Superprof’s business model relies heavily on a subscription-based Student Pass, which is required just to contact tutors. While the terms do state that it renews automatically, the overall setup feels designed in a way that many users can easily overlook or forget to cancel.
What stands out is not just the subscription itself, but the company’s approach when customers are caught out. In my case, the renewal was accidental and the service was not used during that period. I contacted customer support and requested a refund as a gesture of goodwill.
This was refused.
Many reputable platforms recognise that accidental renewals happen and are willing to refund unused subscription periods. Superprof’s decision not to do so suggests a rigid approach that prioritises enforcing the subscription model over customer experience.
If the intention was not to benefit from these situations, offering refunds in clear cases of non-use would be a reasonable and customer-friendly solution.
Users should be extremely cautious and keep a close eye on their subscription status when using this platform.

Took £39 out of my account

It is a scam
It is a scam! I have been charged for few months even if I have never used the app and the teacher who I tried to reach out was not available. Customer service useleff and not customer friendly as even if they have understood the issue they did not listen to my concern! Really unprofessional and would not recommend!

SuperProf is fraudulent. Do not use.
SuperProf ran what I can only describe as a scam.
To contact a tutor, they ask you to put down a £39 “hold,” framing it as a precaution in case the contact becomes a lesson. At no point are you told you are signing up for a subscription. The whole flow is deliberately packaged to look like you’re simply paying to reach a tutor — the word “subscription” never features prominently, if at all.
And that’s clearly by design. Why would anyone sign up to a subscription before they’ve even used the service or spoken to a tutor? They wouldn’t. So SuperProf has to bury it — packaging it in language that obscures what you’re actually agreeing to, making it easy to miss and hard to dispute.
When no lesson took place and the hold was never reversed, I contacted their support. A representative named Archi doubled down, refused a refund, and insisted this was a subscription I had signed up for. There was no acknowledgement of how poorly this is communicated, no goodwill, nothing.
This is misrepresentation. Avoid putting your card details anywhere near this platform.
