Last week, I traveled to Dubai for the first time with a group of about 30 friends and family members. We booked a multi-day private excursion package. What truly made the experience unforgettable was our tour guide, Saad (Sam).

From the moment we arrived, Sam was exceptional. He clearly communicated our daily itinerary—including pick-up times, drop-off points, and scheduled activities—which kept everything running smoothly. During our travels, he shared fascinating insights about Dubai’s history, local customs, cultural norms, Islamic traditions, and even pointed out iconic landmarks along the way.

What stood out most was Sam’s ability to connect with everyone in our group—ranging from teenagers to seniors. He was engaging, humorous, and incredibly personable, which kept us all interested and engaged. Whether it was navigating the spice and gold souks, selecting perfumes and oils (his recommendations were spot on), or answering the many questions we had, Sam handled everything with patience.

He consistently went above and beyond to make sure each of us had a meaningful experience tailored to our interests. Sam captured great photos for us and provided recommendations for restaurants after our days excursions concluded. Sam was able to lead our group with ease.

If you’re visiting Dubai and want an experience that’s insightful, well-organized, and led by someone who truly loves sharing the city—ask for Sam. He made my first trip to Dubai absolutely unforgettable!

Surprise Tourism took good care of our safety and organized a great tour of Dubai and Abu Dhabi for us. I would like to thank Stephen for the very good planning of the trip and suggestions he made for the itinerary. Everything that was included in the itinerary gave us the possibility to see that UAE is much more than just Dubai. We could understand the history, the development and the life of the people. We were assigned a great driver, Mr. Mohamed Irfan, who was very punctual and careful who took really good care of us in the busy traffic of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. One last thought, is related to the desert activity which was very well organized and we have enjoyed every minute of it. We had a very skillful and careful driver, Aasai. We had a tour in Emirates with Surprise Tourism. Our curator Mr. Muhammad organized our tour. We never met him personally, but we felt his care on every step of our trip. He made sure we were taken care of all the time. Highly recommend this company to everyone who would like to visit this wonderful country!

I was extremely please with the trip as a whole. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. He provided an effective and efficient way of doing things to keep every highly engaged. This is an experience I will never forget and would recommend a trip such as this to anyone.

I just want to say that this excursion was by far the most beautiful experience I had. Although it still was hot 🥵 the experience was truly amazing. You have to make sure you capture every aspect of the mosque because it is so many people so when it’s your turn to snap pictures get to snapping because you have to allow others to take pictures and get the experience as well. It is a controlled and safe environment and when you are done with your experience there is American food in the main lobby you can indulge in. A must see tour.

He treated us like family. Saad was very knowledgeable about each place that we went to and he made sure that we were always hydrated.

I traveled with a group of 48 persons to the UAE, April 18 -28, on a customized tour. We spent 7 nights in Dubai and 2 in Abu Dhabi. We visited Sharjah and Fujairah. From start to finish, the trip was executed with an impressive level of professionalism. All service providers were courteous, pleasant and cheerful.

Our driver was focused on his job at all times, making sure we had a smooth transition between sites. We arrived on time or early for all scheduled events and never had to complain about the manner in which he drove. It was easy to conclude that he is an experienced driver. He seemed to know all the routes, from Dubai, to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Fujairah (no GPS required). Everyone felt safe driving with him, and this helped to make the trip soar above our expectations.

Without the phenomenal guide, Saad (Sam), the trip might have been less exciting and enjoyable. He displayed a wealth of knowledge about each site and destination that we visited. He was patient, accommodating, and unpretentious. He knows how to navigate long lines and crowds to get us where we needed to be. Within a day of being with us, Sam could recognize each member of the group, regardless of the crowds in which we found ourselves. Because of Sam, we returned with hundreds of pictures, that I am still sharing with the group.

Without hesitation, the trip was one of the top three that I have done (I have been traveling with groups since 2000). Thanks to all those who worked behind the scenes at Surprise Tourism and to our driver and Sam for a trip that was characterized by a myriad of pleasant memories that will last a lifetime.

Where Destinations Travel and Friends

We recently used TravelLocal to book a 7-day tour of Dubai before a conference. TravelLocal exceeded our expectations in both the preplanning of the trip and during the trip. They had great suggestions of what to see and do each day and worked everything we had prioritized into the list. They also recommended hotels for our accommodation. They were very detailed and clear and the pricing was great!!!

Their people on the ground in Dubai communicated with us each day on WhatsApp sending all the entrance tickets we needed. We had the same driver and guide each day and they were great!

If you are visiting Dubai some of the must-sees:
Dubai Old Town and New Town, Bastakia area - the Souks (markets), take an Abar boat ride across the river, the Miracle Garden, Global Village, Dhow Cruise, Burj Khalifa (tallest building in the world), Dubai Mall and Fountain show, the Marina. Do a day trip to Al Ain (make sure they take you to the camel market) and to Abu Dhabi the capital.

We found Dubai very safe and you can drink the water. The people are friendly but they do ask that you dress respectfully (shoulders and knees covered for women and no t-shirts with rude comments or pictures) We found some Europeans wearing skimpy clothing.
