Stockholm was excellent but the trains there were challenging as the train from Hamburg was cancelled and we then missed all our connections, resulting in over 3 hours on a shuttle bus followed by 8 hours standing on a train. Not the 1st class travel we’d paid for. The hotel Absalon in Copenhagen was more a 3 star, not 4, and we had a very small double room with a broken tap. This was mended but we were not moved to a standard room which was what we’d paid for.
Whist we had a fabulous time in both Denmark and Sweden I would probably change the journey round to include an overnight sleeper journey to Stockholm (as suggested by TMR) as there were some tedious hours on the trains. However, they were all comfortable enough and mostly had refreshments available at times. ALL the trains ran on time, including the UK Penrith to London on a Sunday! All in all an enjoyable smooth way of travelling through northern Europe and scandinavia.
