I ordered a Toyota Yaris, but a larger Citroen C4 car was delivered to me for the same price. Picking up and returning the vehicle took place quickly and without problems. The car was older, but technically it was fine. The approach and professionalism of the rental company was great, highly recommend their services. Maros

No contact, my deposit wasn't returned

Booked car 2 times through the website, first in Montenegro - everything went smoothly that's why I used the website to rent in Cyprus - this time there was no contact with the company who was supposed to let us the car, even tho deposit was paid. 2 days before travel someone chatted me saying they're a Manager and that the car is broken, they can refund the money. Eventually, I didn't agre and they found someone else for the same costs & conditions. But my deposit (30€) that I paid the 1st company hasn't been cashed back since January although there were promises it would be. So-called manager doesn't reply back, no contact through email, WhatsApp, Viber etc. SHAME!

Waited all day just for them to say there were no cars

Made a booking at 10am, waited all day for confirmation and had to ring/message and WhatsApp. Finally at 7pm after doing all the chasing we got an email saying there were no cars. Unless you're happy to wait 9 hours to be told there are no cars I would highly recommend not using them.

I was very pleased with the car rental

I was very pleased with the car rental. What I received was not a Toyota Yaris, but a Skoda Fabia. The car was functional, well-kept, and sufficiently equipped with parking sensors. We chose the version with an automatic transmission and I recommend it. We visited Durmitor without any problems. Very good contact with the rental company. Generally, I recommend it.

In the end, we received a citroen c4. Pickup and return without a problem. Green card to enter Albania was also provided according to the contract. This is the second time I took a car from the guys and I am satisfied. I recommend

Renting a car in Albania

Hello! We rented a car through LocalCarHires for our roadtrip in Albania and had no problem with the car, actually we were very satisfied. We got in touch with the local company before arriving to Albania and agreed on everything. The employees of the company were helpful and ready to help us, adjust to our requests. They even brought the car to a slightly different place (20 min drive). The car was in the end Kia Stonic (the same group as Hyundai i20) but they informed me about the change in due course and it was a new car, automat as in the contract and was ideal for the roads there. I highly recommend the company and you, LocalCarHires, as well cause we wouldn’t find that company without you. They speak English, plus even told us how it works on their roads and gave us tips what to visit in Albania :)

We rented a car through localcarhires…

We rented a car through localcarhires in Georgia. Car was not maintained properly and after six days broke down. We got zero help from localcarhires so they will NOT help you in a bad situation. This is how they responded after telling them rental company is starting to act hostile: "I was informed that a representative of the rental company is already contacting you.
Everything related to the technical condition of the car, you need to decide directly with the rental company.
Stay in touch with the representatives of the rental company and follow their instructions."

Below is the story that took place with the car. Local company was called Irakli's car rental:

We were a bit worried about the car being driven 350000km and some maintenance lights were on. After six days the car broke. Water cooler tank hose got disconnected from the engine and we got zero help from Irakli or localcarhires. Luckily a local guy made the car move again, but after a while this happened again. This is where the show began and Irakli started his act to rip off our money. It should be stated that we were told (and had written contracts) that the car was fully insured.

He lied at every point possible starting with localcarhires. He told them that we drove somewhere forbidden thus broke the car. They bought this with no hesitation without caring about our navigation data.

He lied about car evacuator that we had lost his car. We paid for evacuation and he got his car, but he made us believe the car was lost.

We arranged a meet around midnight 7 hours before our flight back. He took us to deadend alley with his friend and started threatening us to pay for his car engine.

Should be said here that he promised to take care of everything if we pay for the evacuator. In common sense this evacuator should have been paid by Irakli because the problem was clearly because of poor maintenance.

We were forced to promise to go to atm and pay him 500usd. At the atm he locked our luggage into trunk. We called police. After the police came we got the confirmation Irakli got his car but had lied us about it. We have no idea about the conversation that happened between him and the police, but we ended up paying this 500 just to get to our flight. This car dealer is a fraud and should never be trusted in any kind of business!

Be aware of this company!

This is our complaint about our experience with localcarhires.com:

We have rented a car with one of your providers in Albanien. The car we have rented has had so many problems in the short amount of time.

First, the warning signal in the display panel for airbag-failure has been on for almost a week. Our provider finally send a mechanic yesterday who concluded that there was a problem, but he could not solve it. They said we had to return the car back to Tirana, but we were in Gjirokaster which is three hours away. They have continued to ignore our request for getting a replacement car.

Today, when we got to our car in the morning the tire was punctured. When we asked your provider when they were able to come and help us change they started writing very angrily that we could just fix it ourselves.

When the mechanic got here, he had not brought a new spare tire, to replace the old one. Therefore, I needed to go to a tire shop to buy a new tire since the mechanic said that the tire was too old and worn out to be fixed.

We were supposed to go to Kanionet e Osumit today but now we have spend since morning, trying to fix this problem. Therefore we do not have the time now to go, which we are very sad to miss out on.

We are very unsatisfied with the car:
- the airbags are not working
- the tires are so worn out that it punctured

And the service:
- angry and rude language and service
- we can’t get a replacement car even though the airbags are not working
- the mechanic didn’t bring a spare tire so I had to go myself to get a new.

Great car and vendor

The car I have rented was Renault Taliant. It was a good car and no problem at all for the whole trip around Türkiye. I have used this car for 10 days and vendor I have rented the car from was also very helpful and easy to communicate with. It was a big part to make my holiday perfect!!
