My SAS pension

My SAS pension has now been with Talbot & Muir (T&M) for over 25yrs , and our Pension Manager Robert Little has managed the account for 10 year plus.
I do believe the success of our SAS pension has been due to the continuity of service by T&M and its management team.
Above all the most important thing for any pension holder is communication and support, at any time an email or phone call is received and acted on immediately.
Questions are answered clearly, promptly and within the SAS pension rules, and I have never been hit with any hidden costs.
Our early investments have paid dividends and later as the market and the world changed and our SAS got close to drawdown we were advised to move our pension into NS&I , since having heard from business colleagues and business owners who left their pension’s in outside investments , stocks and shares some lost many thousands of pounds, this was a master stroke in my opinion as my pension only increased in value.
I now live abroad and have done so for the last 4 years and I still have to say the service has not altered, it’s excellent.
I have tried to write this review accurately and give a good account of my experience without exaggeration because the service has been that good.

Favouritism to say the least! Totally BIASED towards my business!

Favouritism to say the least!
Been in unit on new street Barnsley just over 12 mths and what a nightmare, spent a fortune to decorate the building to get to cleanliness to be acceptable to open my hair beauty and aesthetics salon so it’s at a standard for my licence, in this timescale had 2-3 water leaks due to the flat roof being bodged time after time again, when both parties of insurance came out to visit the insurance inspector did advise to the landlords side that a whole new roof was required and the boss in charge of the roofing company agreed on a complete new false roof above the original one as I was present in person through the whole conversation.
I had to claim for damage to my internal belongings as well as decor, both Steve and Josh gave me no support in this whatsoever even though the ceiling came into my salon with the water and the ceiling on the stairs become very unsafe and bowed and only thing they did is got the roofers to put 2 large beams on the ceiling to hold the ceiling up which was disgusting and not once in 3 months I received any updates from either of them as to what’s happening with all this as it totally destroyed my business, yet the slightest leak the adjoining building next door which is also a business had a few drops of leak everything had to be dealt with straight away as an emergency to even tie myself down to visit my destroyed business which had closed due to nothing done further on my side and had to work around my plans to have cheek to ask me I must let them have access to deal with a leak that occurred to the business next door yet I had no updates whatsoever for my water leak that has completely destroyed my business and sit there in the cold while the roofers came in to fix the leak for the next door business and brushing mine totally under the carpet and using my electricity that I pay for.
My business was a new business invested quite a lot of money into it for it then having to close for good as it gave a massive impact to my business in whole with this leak and due to the favouritism from the landlords to the business next door from this day on handing the keys back in the building inside from the leak with the missing patch of the roof and ceiling unsafe on stairs as well as a mess on the ceiling in the beauty room nothing more has been done upon me leaving and closing the doors for good on the property.
This is totally BIAS towards myself and my business and I’m totally disgusted how this has been handled and i am definitely ready to take this matter further in due course.

Steering through the options

We gave T & M our SSAS some years ago. They have been diligent and professional throughout. Rob Little in particular has been very helpful, enabling us to navigate through the minefield of legislation and tax issues, never crossing the proper boundaries regarding financial guidance, but clearly spelling out the alternatives in a most helpful manner.

Thank you!!!

We are blessed to have Robert Little as the Fund Manager of our SASS. He is, simply, the nicest, kindest man you could ever meet. I would literally trust him with our lives. On top of these rare qualities, he has an incredible depth of knowledge of the ever-changing, highly complex, Pension Fund Industry. He has safely and wisely protected our money.

Rob, thank you so much for all you have done for us - with the able assistance of the wonderful Megan. We are blessed to have found you in a world where so few "care". Congratulations too, to Talbot & Muir for employing a man of such rare integrity and goodness.

Talbot and Muir state its OK to "Miscommunicate", "Mislead" and "cause frustration and inconvenience"

I complained to T&M that my money was unable to be invested because of I perceived their onboarding process to be slow, bureaucratic with much prevarication and confusion.

Basically, every wasted day in getting my money invested could have cost me £10,000s of pounds.

In response I received what was a mechanical diatribe on the timeline that was more defensive and deflective than answering the main issues.

Further, despite in the letter accepting that they had quote, "Miscommunicated', 'caused inconvenience and frustration', 'caused confusion and misunderstandings', Talbot & Muir made no attempt, not even a peep, to address this extremely worrying experience. Even a small gesture of goodwill might have made the saga more digestable.

I have been dealing with Talbot and…

I have been dealing with Talbot and Muir for many years. They (and particularly Naomi Shephard-Dodsley, who has been my contact for most of that time) have always been efficient and helpful.
Recently she surpassed herself as I complained about how few SIPP bank deposit accounts there seem to be. Otherwise unprompted, she located some, and on the next day sent me completed application forms to open accounts. Excellent proactive service.

Excellent service for pension provision

Have been using Talbot and Muir for literally decades. In my view the company provides the best service of any that we deal with. The staff are personable, helpful, pro-active, knowledgeable and both timely and efficient with responses. It is a rare thing in the financial services industry to be able to say it is a pleasure to do business with someone, but indeed it is with T&M.
