The experience was great. I had a general idea of the areas I wanted to improve on, and working with Julia and the team, they were able to give me the tools and environment to improve as a speaker. The group sessions were also very helpful for getting feedback from others, as well as learning from others’ strengths and areas for improvement. This is a journey, and I’m grateful for the experience, knowledge, and tools I’ve gained to help me become the speaker I want to be.

The program helped me become a more effective and confident communicator. First and foremost, the program works! I joined in early 2026 and I was not entirely sure I had entered the proper program needed for me. I am happy I took the leap of faith in signing up because from the very beginning moments, I was engaged in a friendly, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere. The coaches and mentors truly care about the members and their personal and professional growth. Coaches provide honest and sincere feedback that guides the participant to improvement. The availability, knowledge, and patience of coaching staff is stellar.

Committing to the program and following through the course material has led to fundamental changes in the way I speak and communicate at work and in my personal life. About halfway through the mentorship, a friend of mine told me she had observed a very noticeable and positive change in how I speak and present myself. This was truly heartwarming feedback; I knew the investment in my development was paying off. I am glad I participated in the mentorship. As a living success story, I highly recommend joining.

Working with the team has helped me not only feel more confident and comfortable communicating how I want, it’s opened my eyes to why and how we communicate the way we do. Now I subtly notice others’ and my communication habits. I’m able to see where I fall short and excel naturally, and this has helped me bring out my authentic self in every interaction. Frankly, being part of the SpeakHouse Academy was one of those experiences when you get to learn and enhance your knowledge and communication skills in a way that is fun and eye opening. I’m very grateful for joining this academy but I’m not proud of the sessions that I missed.

I joined SpeakHouse Academy in April 2026 after coming across the program on Instagram. I met with Julia for an initial consultation and never looked back.

At the time, I was a Battalion Chief with a mid-sized California fire department, looking ahead to future promotional opportunities and wanting to become a more effective speaker. My role required me to speak with the media, department members, training classes, and community groups. While I was comfortable speaking in front of others, it never came naturally. Whenever I had to give a prepared speech, I memorized it word for word. That approach made every presentation stressful because I was constantly worried about losing my place.

SpeakHouse gave me practical tools and mental frameworks that have already made a real difference in how I communicate in professional settings. I joined this training program back in October 2025, and I can say without any reservations that this investment has made many improvements to my daily life. From this program I have learned how critical communication really is in our daily lives AND that acquiring skills to improve our communication do exist and are within your reach. There is a proverbial saying - “when the student is ready, the teacher will appear”. This exactly what happened to me. Let me take a few minutes to share with you my experience and story.

For the past twenty years, I have worked in the mechanical contractor industry with a heavy focus on heating systems installations and heating systems evaluations. There are many courses and training programs that are offer in this industry for acquiring skills and knowledge in the areas of engineering, project management, technical troubleshooting, safety procedures and much more. When it comes to the area of communication skills, there are very few available courses. Communication skills acquisition is something that is improved by daily exercise and with trial-error methods, at least this was my experience. For the past two years, I took the initiative to search for a training program that can help me with developing the skills for navigating difficult conversations, a program that can teach me effective listening skills, technical presentation development, and a program that can show me how to communicate with professionals who are much younger than me. This was a challenge to find at first, however, I persisted with my search during such two years and pick-up lots of “helpful tips” when it comes to communication and conversation skills from the world wide web. The search intensified for me after successfully completing a presentation to a major customer - although I was given the project award, it left me exhausted and depleted because I struggled to shared and communicate my ideas efficiently during the presentation (just being transparent with everyone who is reading this).

Before I knew it, during my online searches one late evening I came across the SpeakUp Academy - this is where I met Julia. The initial intake conversation call felt like opening a hidden box where my communication struggles and challenges were brought forward and assessed in such a positive coaching manner. Let me tell you something right now, after this initial call I felt like a huge weight coming off my shoulders AND with lots of anxiety leaving my stomach. I immediately joined the program and began to work on the modules.

From the very first module, the coaching and instructional material is presented in a simple, direct and applicable manner. The exercises are REAL and include supporting details. The 1:1 coaching calls and group calls with the instructors are fun and interactive with fellow members, where you can apply the knowledge from the modules and receive supporting feedback that leads to almost immediate improvements. This program is the SOLID example of “the more you practice, the better you become” in the world of communication.

Within the first eight weeks into this program, my conversations with clients improve dramatically, which boosted me to build relationships with C-Suite level decision making executives, which resulted in MORE project awards. Furthermore, within the same amount of weeks I was offered a leadership position (which I am performing as the senior lead) - this is a result from showing up to conversations and meetings with full INTENTION to provide support to customers. In the personal side, understanding ACTIVE LISTENING and applying such new skill provided me with the tools to communicate more effectively, sometimes as a consultant, with my immediate family, friends, and colleagues. The change for me is dramatic when it comes to communication AND the results speak for themselves.
