Tech Wishes: They Fulfill Wishes, Just Not Yours
They call themselves Tech Wishes but they only fulfil their own and not the customer's. It's no wonder some of the positive reviews they have on Google have been written by their own staff.
Things with them started positively but soon went downhill.
I engaged them to build a hybrid B2B and B2C platform and made it clear from the beginning that more than 70% of my sales would be B2B. This was documented. They ignored that and proposed a basic B2C website in the SOW. Not being of a tech background and not knowing any better at the time, I signed off on the SOW thinking I was getting what I asked for.
Later, upon seeing the initial mock ups, I asked about the B2B functionality. They claimed that I had not asked for that despite there being documentation to say otherwise. Abir, the founder, got angry when I pointed that out and yelled at me, framing it as if I was being unreasonable and even rubbed in my face that they had done my logo for free. My logo btw, could have been done in 15 minutes by any junior designer. I come from a media background and I know this very well. Yet he tried to pull a fast one.
To top it off the project manager assigned to me never took notes and always looked like he was ‘high’ when I had video calls with him. He would later tell me to write out everything I talked about during the video calls. It’s like going to a restaurant, making an order only for the waiter to tell you to write it down for his benefit.
When I pointed it out, Abir YELLED AT ME CLAIMING I WAS MISTREATING HIS STAFF. So much for accountability.
Ultimately, they could not meet my requirements at the beginning but claimed that they did, so as to close a deal and then TRIED TO CONVINCE ME TO CHANGE MY BUSINESS MODEL SO AS TO SUIT THEIR TECH LIMITATIONS.
THEY NEVER COMPLETED MY WEBSITE DESPITE BEING PAID IN FULL.
If you're a merchant operating within India and doing B2C sales they might do a good job. That said, they'll still overcharge. THERE ARE MULTIPLE VENDORS WITHIN INDIA THAT CHARGE BETTER RATES THAN THEM AND PROVIDE MUCH BETTER SERVICE AND OUTCOMES. (LOOK UP LOGICWIND)
Here’s why;
Firstly they’ll build on the Spotify platform (that’s where mine was built). The platform at the first few tiers is very limited in its capabilities. It suits merchants catering to a local market but does not fit within business models that require international sourcing and selling.
Secondly they will will not write much code for you and do the bare minimum in design. Shopify themselves verified this when they looked at how much code was written and can verify this for you if you have a site created by them. THEIR CODE IS AT THE LEVEL OF AMATEURS AND THEY CANNOT FIX COMPLEX PROBLEMS.
Despite that they’ll charge as if they are building a site from scratch. They lack the skills and tech knowledge to build anything customised that really suits your business needs BUT ABIR WILL GET ANGRY WHEN THAT’S POINTED OUT TO HIM.
Basically when called out on his incompetence, his go to move is to START ABUSING THE CUSTOMER.
Upon my website going live, I WILL NOT be using the logo which Abir claims to have graciously given me. IT WAS NOT WHAT I WANTED FOR STARTERS. I HAD ASKED FOR ANOTHER THAT WAS SUGGESTED BY THEIR DESIGNER. But it turns out SHE HAD TAKEN SHORT CUTS AND BASICALLY STOLE A TEMPLATED DESIGN FROM ANOTHER WEBSITE. And when I asked about it she went quiet. When I asked again ABIR RESORTED TO YELLING AT ME AND MADE IT SEEM LIKE I WAS BEING TOO DEMANDING.
A bad vendor is the last thing you need as business owner. Vendors should solve your problems and not the other way round. That’s what they are paid to do. And vendors should NEVER make promises they cannot deliver on. THATS WHAT THEY DID. AND WHEN THEY GOT CALLED OUT OUT, ABIR RESORTED TO MAKING IT SEEM LIKE IT WAS MY FAULT THUS CAUSING ME DELAYS AND A HOST OF OTHER PROBLEMS.
THERE ARE BETTER VENDORS OUT THERE. MUCH BETTER.
