I began renting a storage unit in June 2024.

I began renting a storage unit in Crestview, FL in June 2024.
I emailed the onsite manager on Jan 31st, that I would be emptying my storage unit on Feb 1st. She responded she would follow up on Monday (Feb 3rd). I logged in to my online account on Jan 31st and DISABLED AUTO PAYMENT for my February rent by UNCHECKING THE "ENABLED" BOX; but the $134.18 was automatically deducted on February 1st. This was an unauthorized transaction.
Your Artificial Intelligence Billing Software is set up to override human interactions. Your AI software has enabled rent price-fixing and has taken away any human options. Your billing system prevented an actual 65 year-old woman, a retired teacher on a fixed income, from having control of my own money and my choices.
Civil antitrust lawsuits are ensuing against companies using AI technology and software because of the ability to use sensitive data (bank accounts; U.S. Driver's Licenses which include full names, DOB, and addresses) for financial manipulation.
In my lease agreement: " If the Occupant has not moved out by close of business on the fifth day of the month, then he/she will owe rent for the entire month, whether they move out after the fifth day or continue to occupy the unit after the fifth day." I MOVED OUT FEBRUARY 1ST BEFORE 2:00 PM CST.
My lease agreement also states that if I did not give written notice 10 days prior to moving out, there will be no refund of rent already paid. I understand that agreement, but, your company still does not have the right to take away MY RIGHTS as an individual who wishes to make my own financial decisions. I did not authorize the pre-payment of my rent. I chose to disable that option, but YOU PRE-PAID MY RENT. Your A.I software disabled my ability to make a human choice. I was not allowed to control my personal financial choice. Paying for my storage unit is my choice, not yours. If I chose to let it go into default and have all my belongings placed on the street, that is MY CHOICE, not yours.
I am requesting a full refund of the February rent that automatically deducted $134.00 that I DID NOT AUTHORIZE. I demand to maintain my choice of whether or not I choose to pay a bill. Your company does not have the right or the authority to override a human choice or decision.
I posted complaints on Facebook, Crestview Word of Mouth, and the Better Business Bureau.
Companies utilizing A.I. software to take control of and/or override a patron's choice or option of submitting financial installments is going to require legal action against companies like yours.
