I can't believe these guys.

This was an awful experience. During onboarding, they seemed knowledgeable and understood our needs. We booked them for 3 months to reboot our email campaigns. However, we got handed off to a far less experienced team that was not up to the task and didn’t seem to care about performance or achieving success.

We hired them initially to handle our Black Friday email campaigns and those had the worst performance to date. Our sales via email declined, our ROI went through the floor.

Our agreement for the whole project was around $8000 which for us is a significant sum but the team did not seem to respect or appreciate our investment and we had to waste time on QC for things we shouldn’t have to worry about at this budget like correcting numerous typos and misspellings and strange grammar throughout the process.

Another matter is that I specifically asked them to create templates in Klavio so we could easily edit or adjust the flows and recycle certain campaigns in the future, however, they designed everything as static image-only no-text emails, which I do not agree is good form, nor is it what I asked for.

After the first month, I raised my concerns and asked to end the contract, but they informed me that early termination was not allowed. I understand being bound by a contract but if a client is unhappy you should either terminate the contract or make some effort to improve the situation.

As I was locked into the agreement, in an effort to make the best of the situation and give them a chance, I provided detailed feedback and guidance, yet these requests were not implemented, and the second-month campaigns were launched in the same rushed half-hearted manner as before. I had to spend a lot more of my own time than I intended to guide the strategy.

Now, one of the things to really understand about a business is how they handle disputes and conflicts. When I requested to escalate my concerns to a manager or the owner, I was removed from the Slack group and ghosted. I have not received a response or interaction from our initial point of contact in nearly three months.

The tagline of this freelancer currently says “Your ROI & LTV to the moon” but my experience is the opposite and I very much regret hiring this team and trusting them with an important segment of our business efforts.

Their website claims are highly exaggerated, they say:
🍹 Record-shattering campaigns.
Reality: We saw across the board reduction in performance and sales in spite of spending 10X more than we were before.
🍹 What-Ever-It-Takes.
Reality: No. Every little thing felt like a struggle to get things done and only the bare minimum effort was applied.
🍹 Put money into your pockets.
Reality: They clearly didn't care about ROI and did not respond to any points about reduction in performance.
🍹 Improve your business health.
Reality: Our metrics are down and we've even received criticism of their email format.

Communication stood out as bizarre to me through the process. When trying to provide feedback to improve the campaigns/flows or address problem areas, my point of contact would give me endless assurances and try to put a positive spin on everything instead of actually addressing the point I just made. I found it incredibly disingenuous and counter productive.

I could go on, there were many other issues but the main thing is they just didn't seem to care. They got their money and locked me into a contract. No quality or performance assurances, no way to reach management, bold claims not matched by reality. I simply can not recommend this business.

And I really hate to see this kind of behavior, it gives marketing a bad reputation. It's too common to see superstar sales guys and closers talk a big game, then hand off to a team that can't deliver and/or doesn't care.

Their website: "Our clients see an average email revenue growth of 963.76%"

As a business owner, I was drawn to Tequila Sunrise Marketing's promising claims of boosting customer retention and significantly increasing email revenue. Their brash language and audacious promises painted a picture of a team that was bold, innovative, and results-driven. I was excited to partner with them in hopes of seeing my business grow exponentially.

The reality, however, has been deeply disappointing.

Instead of the advertised 'daring, creative, and data-driven' team, my experience with Tequila Sunrise has been one of empty promises and unfulfilled expectations. They present themselves as marketing magicians, but in reality, they've shown no tangible ability to deliver on their advertised growth rates.

The supposed 'irresistible offers' they crafted did not resonate with our customer base, nor did they help in converting one-time buyers into the 'raving fans' they assured. The strategy they put in place did not reflect an understanding of our business or our customers, and their purported obsession with helping businesses 'stand out' seemed more like a marketing gimmick than a genuine value proposition.

Moreover, their claim of clients seeing an average email revenue growth of 963.76% is, in my experience, grossly overstated. Over our contract period, we saw negligible improvement in our email revenue, a stark contrast to the significant increase they confidently promised.

Dealing with their team has been a significant drain on our resources, both in terms of time and money, with little to no return on our investment. There is a marked discrepancy between their loud claims and the services they deliver, making our experience with Tequila Sunrise one that I wouldn't recommend.

I share this as a caution to other businesses considering their services. It's always important to verify the credibility of any marketing agency you work with, and in my experience, Tequila Sunrise's claims do not hold up under scrutiny.

Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
