Stay away from Tetra starter tank

Shambles! Second day of the tank running the heater blew, within a week the filter blew, and a day after that the light blew. Had enough of replacing my sons Christmas gift from my pocket, as it was getting costly. Returned it all and got a new one last week. Today the light blew, the heater didnt work from day 1 which was ok as id bought a new one first time round. These lights are so expensive. I am so annoyed as wee now have fish in the tank.

So bad it's laughable

A pump that went wrong in under 6 months and absolutely awful customer service. Didn't read or reply to email. Didn't call back when they said they would. Took over 2 weeks for their 'expert' to diagnose (from a photo of the outside of the pump) that a specific part of the pump had gone wrong that just so happened to be not covered by warranty. I feel sorry for everyone working for this company and anyone that has one of their pumps malfunction. I foresee then going bust eventually

Cheap and unreliable product......

There seems to be an ongoing thread with products from this company which seems to revolve around cheap not fit for purpose products, in my case as with a lot of other people. I have purchased a Tera starter line 54L which came as the name suggests as a complete set up excluding stones.
The problem encountered is a cheap pump that gave up the ghost and a cheap heater that stopped working all within a month!!
Looking at other people's one way communication with Tetra i.e no customer care just throwing hurdles to stop people getting assistance and customer satisfaction.
I have purchased a new pump and heater knowing that Tetra will dodge the bullet and not offer any form of assistance I will do what's best for fish family and rue the day I purchased this set up.
So be warned your purchase here is at your own peril I would suggest to you look elsewhere!!!

Tetra 80 Startline. Excellent.

Just moved and downsized house. Had to leave my big aquarium behind due to lack of space.
Couldn't do without fish so I bought a Tetra Line Starter 80 to fit in a corner of our small sitting room . It's a very good piece of kit for what you pay.
Good quality glass aquarium, seals all good. Hood is hinged. Looks good, but it is made out of light plastic. Is durable though and benefits from a big feeding flap.
LED daylight and blue "nighttime mode" light. Its10 watts. Nothing fancy, but does the job well. In fact I find it too bright for the size of the aquarium. All you have to do is buy some of that yellow and green electricians tape and run it along the full length of the tube. This reduces the lighting to an acceptable level and actually looks 100% better.
Filter is a nice sized internal filter. But it's one of those that requires filter pads that you replace monthly. I don't like these pads as they're expensive and every time you throw a pad away you're loosing the good bacteria.
The filter chamber is a good size. Don't waste your money on the filter pads. Pack filter floss into chamber and put some ceramic filter rings on top. You now only ever have to clean the filter floss (in tank water) every now again. Saves you money, and you have an excellent little filter!
Handy that the heater fits inside filter body. It's good quality, but is set at 25degrees. Having said that, it does the job well. And really it's OK for the type of tropical fish you'll be putting in.
Had mine up and running for a few months now. No problems. Plants are thriving and fish are healthy.
Highly recommend.

I had a major fail with the lights…

I had a major fail with the lights after only 2 months of having the tank.....the poor fish were in darkness. After getting the wrong email off Argos I called Tetra direct got a lovely lady called Jo who told me the correct email. After sending off another email to the correct address and a follow up call to make sure they had it I was advised by Jo that Emma had sorted out my dilemma and a new bulb would be dispatched. Around 3hrs, can't get better than that can you from email to action. I asked where to send a review to unfortunately it was a heating system in Arazona USA so I called back to say that was not the correct address and spoke to a nice man called Karl who pointed me in this direction. So here is my trustpiolt review.... Tank 5/5... happy fish5/5.....help if something goes wrong 5/5.... Buy a Tetra fish tank 5/5
