SHAME ON THEM
SHAME on me for not checking reviews for this company. Shipped several books and the one that they offered me the most on was in GREAT condition. They reduced the offer ($30 less than quoted) because they said the cover was torn...it absolutely was not. Wanted me to pay for return shipping. DO NOT USE them. They will scam you!

Flamed it had water damage
Claimed it had water damage. They want me to pay for my own book to get it back. Complete scam. Do not use this place. Save yourself the trouble

SCAMMERS!
Sent Textbook Maniac a book in very good condition (no damage) worth $9.05 buy back. They received it, then sent an e-mail claiming it had water damage and was worth $0. My only recourse was to pay for them to ship it back to me, or let them keep it. After this, I read reviews of many others who had the same experience, even the same false claim of "water damage". SCAMMERS!

Sent them 6 books because they had the highest buyback price. They stated they only revieved 3 of them and that they were reducing the price to less than half. I sent all of the books in the same packaging so if they recieved 1 they recieved all. They wouldnt send me back my books either so now I'm out 70 dollars.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. THEY OFFER ONE PRICE AND STALL WITH GENERATING POSTAGE, YOU THINK THE SITE IS STUCK AND START THE PROCESS OVER THEN THEIR OFFER DROPS DRAMATICALLY TO LESS THAN HALF. CROOKS WITH NO GOOD INTENTIONS. SAVE YOUR TIME AND CHECK OTHER SITES.

Absolutely do not send your texts here
Absolutely do not under any circumstance send your books to them. You might be like me and think despite the bad reviews you’re going to give it a try. Don’t. They took my book that is in near perfect condition offered 20.54 and then on on of the back index pages claimed there’s water damage. Can’t even see this in photos I requested. They then offered 9 or for me to pay them to have it shipped back. Absolutely not going to happen. They scam you. They never intended on paying what they offer at first. Pick a different company who is reliable and doesn’t scam and play games

Either no money or shorted by chunk. Scamming at its best!
I'm another case of " I should have read the reviews before sending my book in". shortly put if you are lucky to get your money it will be shorted by a big chunk for untrue "damages" to the book. Then if you dont accept the new price they will keep your book hostage and ghost you.
Scamming at its best is what these guys are doing. You will either have to beg for your refund or you get shorted with your money and get some back if you are lucky!
Sent in an almost brand new book in and they claimed that it has water damage on it to short my original quote by a big chunk then asked for money to ship it back if you don't accept the new price. Asked for pictures that show the "water damage". The company stopped replying. Well played scam game ladies and gentlemen.

I wish I read the reviews before…
I wish I read the reviews before sending back my book! The company tried to pay me less than half of the agreed upon value. It looks like that is their typical move as they hold the books hostage. Unlucky for them, it was a law school book so I have stronger that usual resources. No where in their terms do they describe having this capability and they are bound to the agreed upon price. I will be contacting the better business bureau to file a complaint and should hopefully have this site shut down in the near future so they can no longer rip off students.

My experience with textbookmaniac
I was disappointed to see the negative reviews. However, I have been sending my books/textbooks to Textbookmaniac for 3 years. My experience has been anything less than awesome. Ok, I waited extra days to receive reimbursement. Some sellbacks were paid sooner. The fact is,we always received payment for our sellbacks. Thank goodness I am not the only customer who may need to wait because there other customers before me and jeez, did it kill me to wait my turn. Well, No. So, I built a bridge and got over it.
Textbook maniac, many thanks for just sending my payments. Lol. I appreciate how easy and pleasant customer service responded to one querie and my voice was heard. The gentleman who answered the phone was in our country, spoke my language and resolved confidently, my concern. Concern became relief. Anyway, Only if my experiences were as good as Textbook maniacs. Better stop before I jinx myself because you guys owe me money and then I will be writing a review much like one that prompted me to put my 2 cents in. Thanks textbookmaniac staff.

Received an email saying payment would be issued.
It has been 2 months and still have not received my check.
I'm going to call non stop until I get my payment sent.

It's true---stay away!
I also received the email that several others have mentioned, that my box "may" have been damaged and there was one book missing, so they deducted $50 from my buyback. They also deducted shipping charges from my buyback and I do not know why, as it was supposed to be free shipping and I used the shipping label provided. I have emailed twice over several weeks requesting an explanation for these items and have not received a reply. I have also not received my payment and I received notice that the books were received three weeks ago. I agree with the others-- stay away!
Update to their response -- they did send me the email I mentioned in the review on 2/25. I replied to it the same day and twice after that, but never received a reply. I did use the FedEx option. I don't recall it stating it was not free, but I may have missed that.
Further update -- I received an email from Wayne stating he had seen the review and asked what he could do to help. I again expressed my concerns about the missing book and damaged package that seems to happen to so many people and asked for further details. I did not get a reply, but I did get my payout today, less the deduction for the missing book. While I appreciate getting the money, I won't use them again.

SCAMMING COMPANY!!!!!!!
WHOEVER IS PLANNING ON SELLING BOOKS TO THIS SCAMMING COMPANY, PLEASE READ BEFORE RESENDING, AND SEND AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
I would leave 0 stars if I could. Sent 4 books, all almost brand new condition. After 3-4 weeks I finally heard back from them saying that they received my books and in processing. I finally heard back from them today saying that they could only give me a partial refund because one of the books listed was missing. The email first stated that perhaps the box got destroyed while being delivered to them. So of course I called them and got angry and asked them to see pictures of this "destroyed box" that let ONE of my books fall out and go missing. The employee put me on hold, comes back on the phone sounding VERY hesitant and awkward, and tells me the box is fine, and that the processing department believe that it was I that lost the book or did not send it in the first place.
I am noticing many similar reviews as mine, so I know that this is not just an accident but a scam. Im checking the weights of the books and the shipped box weight, and it is clear that I did not "accidentally" leave a book out. That is what they told me thought. That it wasn't their fault, but it was I that didn't send the book.
This isn't about the money. This is about scamming people. I will make sure people hear about this.
Those 3rd party companies, like Bookscouter, that recommend online book buyback companies should reconsider using TextbookManiac as a recommended seller/buyer even if you do receive a percentage of the sales. It's just not worth it.

Sold textbooks & received payment promptly
This was a completely pain-free process. I mailed back my books using the provided print-out labels, and within a week received an email from Textbook Maniac that they received the package. After a few days or so, they told me that my payment was on its way and a check arrived in the mail within the 3-7 business day span for the amount I agreed to sell them.
The negative reviews on here may be coming from people trying to sell back books in poor condition. It may be important to make sure your books are in good shape before you try to sell them.
Do yourself a favor and sell your books somewhere else
I got a quote on 1/16/19 and sent them in before the 7 day shipping period. They received the books on 1/25/19. Today is 2/6/19 and still nothing from this company. I sent an email asking for an update on when I would be paid and even though was assured on the website I’d be answered in 24 hours, nothing (been 48 hours). Very disappointed in this company. I cannot recommend doing business with them, due to their extremely poor customer service and communication, as well as them basically taking my books for free. I hate being ripped off!!! Il

Would recommend
I read many poor reviews about this site as well as other sites but chose to trust some of the good reviews on here. I had no issues, everything was prompt and they paid me right away through paypal. This was the first time I sold a book to another company and this was the second highest site that offered to pay for my textbook. Just make sure you follow their guidelines and package it nicely so there's no water damage and everything should be good.
Worst company ever wish I would of read…
Worst company ever wish I would of read reviews before I sold my books they claimed one of my books never made it when both of the book where together in the same package it’s no way they got one without the other !! PLEASE DONT SELL BOOKS TO THIS COMPANY !!
Excellent Service / 100% Satisfied
I shipped two textbooks (both in flawless, like-new condition) to Textbook Maniac less than a week ago and have already received the full, quoted payment (via PayPal). No, this is not a "fake" review, and yes, I was a bit concerned after reading all of the negative reviews here. But common sense leads me to believe that this company wouldn't still be in business if they really were scamming or ripping everyone off. More likely, most of these scathing reviews are from naive students sending in their trashed or outdated textbooks and expecting to get the full, quoted payment for them, even though it's made clear that in order to receive that, the books need to be in good to great condition, as well as the most current version.
Also, I received prompt and helpful communication from them every step of the way. I'm 100% satisfied with Textbook Maniac and would recommend their services to anyone.
I typed out an ISBN and it was accepted…
I typed out an ISBN and it was accepted through the system so I sent it over, but now I'm getting an email claiming they cannot buy certain editions even though it was originally accepted by the website. So, I have to pay to get my book back or they will "recycle" it. Sounds like they recycle a lot of books without any proof that they're doing just that instead of turning around and selling it. Will not use them again. I can sell my books elsewhere with more reliable companies.
