Wonderful experience

Rachel from The Abibiman Project was very professional, knowledgeable and thorough. Also kind, jovial and warm spirited, which was appreciated. She did an excellent job introducing students and staff to new and interesting spices, their origins and how they work together. The dish we prepared together was flavourful, aromatic and healthy; truly enjoyed by everyone!

Amazing Pop Up Experience at Hands Please!

My partner and I enjoyed a brunch experience co-hosted by Chef Rachel (the Abibiman Project) and Chef Kamoy. The meal, cheekily called “Hands Please” eluded to just that - a meal in which the guests would be eating with their hands and enjoy the sensation and connectivity that food, without utensils, can provide.

The whole pop up was a textural and flavour blast. I'm plant-based and was able to enjoy the majority of the meal without a requirement for any substitutions. The first dish came out with the best callaloo that I’ve ever had. It just melted in your mouth and was truly a crowd pleaser. Following the callaloo, we had fried okra with tomato and mint relishes and a tofu crumble - a true textual delight.

Our final course was dessert, a kataifi with what I imagine to be a coconut-based caramel and cream. I loved the textural contrast, especially given that I don’t typically find such a cream with a mouthfeel reminiscent of dairy.

The whole meal was a blast. While there’s an emergence of African, and perhaps more specifically, West African food in the GTA, it was a delight to enjoy this meal with so many plant-based options to enjoy.

Fantastic African Diaspora workshop with Chef Rachel!

Chef Rachel's African Diaspora cooking workshop with our Grade 12 Food and Nutrition classes was fantastic! Students learned about all kinds of new African spices, and then used them to create 2 curry dishes: a West Indian (Caribbean) curry and an East African curry dish. Both were delicious! And students learned a lot when creating them together. I would highly recommend Rachel's African Diaspora workshop!

Great product - great customer service

The company was quick to respond to website issues when I ordered online. They delivered in person the day I expected the product. I've used their spice mixes for a few years and am a huge fan of the products.

Loved every bite

First and foremost the food was fantastic, from okra with crunch to the spice in the coffee to everything else. The event space was also beautiful and Rachel and her team were so welcoming that I couldn’t help but have a great time.
