I am thoroughly enjoying the course, it has opened up so many new worlds and given me access to a huge amount of information. My tutor is supportive, offers constructive comments and is encouraging. I would recommend it to anyone who wishes to learn more about art.

My online studies with The Art Institute has been great, the course is really well layed out, the information is always very clearly written no matter who the author is, and the support from my tutor has been very efficient and helpful. Overall I've really enjoyed this course and I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in the history of art.

It’s a lot more work than I anticipated but, for the most part, I’m begrudgingly enjoying the course, forming opinions on the art and learning. Module 8 was a grind and caused me to take a very long break from the course. I found the course material almost unreadable- too academic, too elitist, too judgemental. So annoying because I love the art of that period! That said, Module 8 is the only one I feel that way about.

Have now completed 10 of the modules. Have loved the course especially the later modules which is where my interest in art lies but have really enjoyed the opportunity to study earlier periods of which I knew relatively little about having always passed on them in a gallery or museum. Having the assignments really ensures that you think about the subject really carefully. They seem daunting at first but you soon get the hang of how to do them. My tutor marked the assignments promptly and gave constructive & supportive feedback. Don’t really want it to end

I am so enjoying this course. I haven't studied for years and I'm finding it so interesting and rewarding. My mentor is great- he marks my assignments promptly and gives me constructive and positive feedback. I love that I can study in my own time and don't have to attend set classes. This course has definitely sparked interest for me going on to do further art history courses.

This has been an amazing journey through Art History. Challenging and extremely thought provoking, I actually loved the Modern and Contemporary art - the areas I don’t usually view.

I really like the program structure, working through centuries. My tutor, Libby Anson provides quick constructive feedback.
The only 'Con' is that one of the early module's notes - module 2 I think - contain some grammatical and other errors that have escaped a review before publishing.

This is an excellent overview of art history. I really appreciated Libby Anson’s feedback on each assignment. She provided thoughtful, constructive and encouraging feedback. I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in learning about art and how it reflects the times in which it was created.

I wanted to do this course to learn more about art and its history and I’m loving it. I’m learning so much more than I anticipated which is giving me so much more appreciation of art throughout all of history. This course has helped me broaden my knowledge and love art not just in the genre I knew but in others I wasn’t quite sure about. Doing it online is easy and the tutor I have is fabulous. She responds quickly when I have questions. Loving it all round!

The program has been incredibly informative and a great way to ease myself into retirement. I have enjoyed each module as they are comprehensive and well-written. I have taken a few trips to see some work illustrated in the modules (The Tate, the Uffizi, Palazzo Doria Pamphilij, the Borghese).
The program has reignited my love of art and art history.
My tutor Libby, has been wonderfully supportive during the nascent stages of my journey and I feel we have developed a very nice long-distance, virtual relationship. She has been prompt and helpful with her comments about my assignments and I have enjoyed having her on my side during the study process.
This is not an easy course. I devoted myself to reading/writing the assignments at one module/month. I think if one were to move more quickly, you wouldn't get the information you need and have the downtime to absorb everything. The assignments are tricky and provoke thought, concentration, and research.
I could never access the materials that were suggested with each module as I live in Canada but there is so much information online and through ordering at my public library system.
I am currently starting Module 11 of 12, I started in January and I think I will miss the time I have devoted to the readings when I finally complete the program.
I am coming away with a great knowledge because of my time investment. I have enjoyed this program very, very much.

I had a great opportunity to progress my knowledge with this History of Art course, which was appropriate to all levels, beginners to advanced. I was able to work at my own pace, with the help just a call away from a very inspirational and knowledgeable teacher. Doing the course took me away from my everyday world and helped me connect with my creativity for days after.

The course is so well structured, allowing students to engage at depth with the subject matter of the various modules.
The presentation of each module is excellent, well thought through with plenty of examples.
I have felt very inspired to undertake my own research and have learned a lot already, although only about half way through the course.
My tutor has been excellent, providing me with prompt feedback and very constructive comments.
I am looking forward to participating in future workshops when they are available.
I would recommend this course to anyone with an interest in art, either for personal enjoyment or further professional development.

Such a pleasure to do this well constructed course. The modules are extremely well written with lots of references and good examples. The assignments are challenging and the tutor reviews very helpful in tackling the next module and improving the student's responses.

I am really glad I decided to enrol on the Art Institute course last year. I have found the course content so interesting and have very much enjoyed learning more about different art movements and especially in the context of political, social and historical events. I have gained an understanding and appreciation of art styles that previously I would have not engaged with and the course has made visits to art galleries so much more meaningful. The modules are well written and well structured and the assignments are sufficiently challenging, encouraging further research and reading. My tutor’s prompt feedback has been extremely helpful and supportive. All in all a very positive experience.

10 modules out of 12 completed of this art course. I thought I would complete in a year but will have taken 2. ( moved house in between ) It is really interesting and definitely quite challenging . The breadth of content is huge but the notes are thorough. However, be up for doing a lot of research. I have learned so much and enjoyed it. Marking very prompt and very helpful. Learned from my tutor too.
