My 5year old loves getting these through the post- I lost my bank card and cancelled card and therefore a couple didn't come through "MUMMY WHERE IS MY BEAR READING?? I miss it" have subsequently sorted and also ordered for twin two year olds...

The impact they have had on my child's reading has been huge. So much so, they have moved her up a year, at school, for reading and comprehension. It's always a great delight for our daughter when the box arrives, the little gift that comes with it it is always a lovely surprise and treat for her too. The blending books ahead of starting school were excellent as were the books where she and I could read parts of the same book. Both these things really helped with confidence and her capability too. The customer service has always been excellent, personal and flexible too.

My daughter really loves the Bear Can Read. She went from disliking reading after a poor experience of how she was being taught in school to loving to read with us at home. The books are fun and engaging and having activities that match the letter sounds makes it easier to tackle new sounds.

I'm so pleased I came across The bear can read. We loved reading together, but having this parcel arrive every month brings a new element of excitement to my son. It helps me to support my sons reading journey. Love it!

My interactions with this company have been amazing from start to finish. The customer care is exemplary, and we loved the packs. Sadly, I had to unsubscribe as my son is autistic and struggled, but even trying to cancel was a breeze. Big shout-out to Lindsey for the best customer care!

We have been subscribed to The Bear Can Read for over a year now and we have loved watching our girl to progress with her reading at home from nursery up to reception now. It gives her extra challenge and support studying at home, and she is always looking forward to the exciting personalised subscription parcel. She loves all her books and reads these constantly, even in the car! Thanks to this she is doing very well at school with her phonics reading and writing classes. Thanks so much 👍

I’m a primary school teacher and my daughter has always loved reading since she was a baby. I’ve been doing phonics cards and lots of listening activities but she was ready for more. The packs are amazing as everything is done for you and the cards / tricky words are in the books so they can apply their skills and keep practising. The sheets are also fab and keep my daughter really engaged - it’s great to have the opportunity to apply her writing skills too so she can see the link from early on. She doesn’t start school until September and is already reading Yellow books. Thanks so much!

Love the bear can read for my 5 year old! Fabulous books that are similar to what she has in school and the activities are very well matched to her ability.

We have been using "The Bear can Read" for the past 3 months and it has made such a difference to our son's reading confidence. He loves the thrill of getting a parcel through the post, which makes him feel really special, and the worksheets and games that are included each month are great, easy activities for reinforcing the phonics he is learning at school.
For us, having a set of books he can practice with that are not school reading scheme books has been a game-changer. He doesn't associate his "Bear Books" with school or assessments, so is happily able to practice his reading for pleasure and enjoyment without feeling under pressure to be perfect.
We love this subscription!

I cannot recommend The Bear Can Read enough, my son absolutely loves it and it’s been incredible for his reading and writing skills. He looks forward to the box arriving and is so excited when he gets back from school and sees it. I’ve had to start pacing him as otherwise he’d do every single activity and read every book all in one go! We’ve had 3 boxes so far and each one has been perfect for his level. Seriously brilliant!

This is a lovely concept which we really had high hopes for.

Our son is a late talker (his receptive language is very good and he does want to communicate, but his spoken language is limited) so I was really hoping for phonetic focused flashcards and activities that could help with his speech development while nurturing his love of books.

We received our first pack for the cub subscription, and it’s lovely with lots of high quality bits. The books are beautiful and he loved the finger puppet. But the activities weren’t developmentally appropriate for a recently-turned-2 year old, or at least, not ours! One was “draw a picture of your family” - our son scribbles, which to my understanding is normal & developmentally appropriate up to age 3/4. I’m not sure if everybody in the cub age range gets the same pack irrespective of individual ages(?) but the activities were just beyond the scope of what our little boy is capable of.

With this in mind it would be nice to see a “club” for speech delayed children as the current stages seemed to be geared toward typical or even advanced (based on the activities included) development. There must be other families in our position that this would also benefit. I did try to feed some of this back to TBCR but the scope of the feedback questionnaire was somewhat limited and the contact page leads to a webform.

We'd definitely consider coming back when he's a bit older but have cancelled for now. If you have a child with typical or even precocious development I would recommend it, though.

Such an amazing subscription! The books are beautifully chosen, and my daughter loves the little hand puppets too (we're at the first Cub stage). The activity sheets are really impressive too. My daughter adores books and these sets are really helping her explore them even more.

I thought I'd just try it out for a few months but I didn't expect to be so pleasantly blown away! Thank you - we'll be looking forward to these each month 🥰

My son is only in P1, but his reading level is already at P3. He is the only one from the both P1 classes from his school, who can read so well, thanks to The bear can read. As English is not my first language, I was very worried how would I teach my son to read. With The bear can read it was so easy. Thank you so much for your hard work.

Really love the idea of this subscription but unfortunately my son isn't interested. We've tried for two months now and it just ends up all parties frustrated so I felt the need to cancel.

Absolutely amazing - I am subscribed to two boxes. Reception age and for a 2 year year old. Both are fantastic. We've had two of each so far and really loving it. We couldn't wait for our next one to arrive!

My 2 year old LOVES the books and finger puppets (he has struggled to focus on books until we started getting these new books) and my 4 year old is enjoying having different books to read compared to his school ones. He also loves the worksheets! It's great to be able to supplement and reinforce his school learning with these additional resources and make it fun at the same time!

I love this subscription. Every month is exciting, I'm just about to move my son up to the next reading level. He absolutely loves the activities, and is now starting to read independently 😊

Absolutely brilliant! Content is loved by child, every delivery there is a small surprise. Engaging and nice books which my daughter loves! All content aligned to the national curriculum and really helpful.

Great resources very well pitched. As a primary school teacher myself, using these for my own daughter has made phonics at home effortless.

My granddaughter loves her delivery every month, she is only just over 3 but enjoys doing the activities, only problem is she wants to do them all the same day so spends next 3wèeks asking for next one 😄

Great book selection for my child's age and ability. They love getting the boxes through the list and it has inspired them to read more!
