Not sure what all the negative reviews…
Not sure what all the negative reviews are about, and frankly, only show there are very demanding and hard to please folks out there. I can understand that things sometimes go wrong and one could get a not the best looking piece, but my experience with the company over a year ago was super pleasant. I had to replace some boards, but I could see that they are putting a lot of effort into getting things right. I can also imagine that sometimes there might be a delay in replacing boards that they have a low stock of, and this takes time. Generally they respond as soon as possible, it's a small family company so expecting a response straight away is simply not realistic. They work really hard. I owe them an apology for my impatience, whilst their response was always very poised and reasonable. As of today I recommended them to my family member, hence found the Trustpilot account. Sadly it does not reflect the true quality of service and the quality of wood they sell at a very competitive price.

various of solid wood panels have split and have spent the last two months trying to get some replacements.. communication is very poor... didn't want to give a negative review but i am totally frutsrated having left messages/ been onto their web chat! no replies..
The not so solid wood company!
The solid wood they advertise is the opposite.. it is a very light pine which dents as easily as balsa wood. Very expensive for the poor quality and came through dented with bashed corners. Wish I had seen some reviews before purchasing! I was going to place a much bigger order, thankfully I thought twice.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. Poor quality products and appalling customer service, a request was made to amend my order which was acknowledged and a refund promised. This never materialised and after several emails and messages I had no further responses. The telephone number is never answered. Now having to take matters up with the bank to request a chargeback.

Good start, terrible end! Poor quality ‘wood’
I bought some 18mm thick Oakley 100% Solid Wood Furniture Boards from this company. My initial experience with ordering the boards was positive. I made a mistake with the online order and inadvertently put the wrong thickness. A very nice sounding gentleman on the phone corrected my error and then emailed me confirmation of the correct items. They arrived promptly and that’s when things went bad. The boards were wrapped in corrugated cardboard and plastic sheeting when they were delivered, I was very busy with something at the time and didn’t take much notice as the delivery driver brought them into my hallway. Later in the day, I unwrapped the boards and noticed a total of three damaged areas on the edges and one corner of the boards. I sent an email to the company telling them that I was disappointed that the boards were damaged, but I hoped I would be able to work around it. I received absolutely no response, not even a polite apology. The boards themselves are really very poor quality. They are very light and soft, mark very easily and some of the spliced joints that make them up are splitting. The surface finish is awful, full of pits and nothing like the quality of the grain patterns you see on the company’s web site photographs of ‘customers projects’. I would advise anyone wanting to build furniture to spend a bit more money and get some real wood. These Oakley boards are really not fit for purpose. It’s a bit of an exaggeration but they’re not a great deal better than balsa wood! Extremely disappointing waste of my money!

Positive appreciation for this company
After trying and failing with many other businesses, The British Wood Panel Co managed to deliver my order. Much appreciated and will be buying from this company again.
Three things you need to know: Great wood. Great Service. Great People.

Top quality wood
Top quality wood. Customer service is a very good as well. I used this wood for my project for my garden shed and it’s a great place to get away from the pressures and stresses of modern life.

Honestly can’t ask for better service from this place, I had a lot of questions to ask and they were very useful and informative. 10/10 would definitely recommend to friends and family.
Ordered several times from this company…
Ordered several times from this company of both 25 and 18mm boards and my husband has made some great furniture with them and all of our customers have been very happy with the end result. Will be continuing to use them as our furniture board supplier. Thanks again David!
Great quality panels and great customer…
Great quality panels and great customer service 100% recommend
First off I had no problems with the…
First off I had no problems with the ordering or delivery of any of the boards, that part was not a bad experience. So first star.
The boards themselves, bought 18mm full length boards, for simple shelving and topping pipe boxing. When they arrived at first glance all looked straight, until I started comparing both edges together and two boards together were out by an inch. Fair enough, I can cut down the worse ones for shorter bits, crack on. It was only once I’d started scribing in sections that the splits started to become apparent, the ends are glued better than the middle so once you get away from the edges your screwed, literally, I had to add screws from the board sides to hold it together.
The last thing is just how soft this stuff is, the only comparable wood I’ve touched is balsa.
I managed to finish what I needed but lesson learnt.
Avoid! Oakley wood panels are not fit for…
The Oakley wood panels are not fit for purpose and contain vast quantities of filler and have a large quantity of shakes, splits and warping. On closer inspection the panels are formed of staves which have are glued together without any regard for orientation which is probably why there are so many issues with cupping and warping.
I would suggest to any one that is considering using these for furniture, unless you are using them for back panels, I would avoid. Furthermore at a similar price point you can purchase a good quality board without any of these issues.
Poor product, poor customer service
Order #4732. I ordered 6 panels costing nearly £500 in August. The panels were delivered without prior notification, were left in an open, unsecured location and got wet when it rained. The ends of all boards were soaked and left with ingrained water stains. Platitudes of compensation but after over two months there has been nothing. I have been forgotten or ignored. Poor customer service. As for the boards, rain caused 3 to bow and 2 developed splitting in the centre. All round it has been a negative experience.
Oakley solid wood panels
I ordered the Oakley solid wood panels, all items all in stock. I quickly received confirmation of the order so far so good. A few days passed and no further information was received. At this stage I read the reviews some of which were quite damning and I started to feel uneasy. I contacted the company via online chat no reply however I quickly received a follow up e mail from David and my initial fears subsided somewhat. I have just received my order within 7 days and I live in Cornwall. Overall I can’t question the product, David was helpful throughout once communication was established. I feel the company could improve on the e mail communications, providing dispatch/ courier details. I did receive this information from David but had to request it. If they resolve this issue I would give them 4 stars. The Oakley product is light weighted and a few marks are noticeable from transit. Not sure what the wood is but it is not hardwood, hence the price. However, the panels and grain look lovely. Overall I am impressed good job.
No communication
Ordered 3 pieces of wood on 25th May. 1 is as described and the other 2 are bowed, have lots of filler and damage.
This company haven’t respond to any emails I’ve sent. Save your money and don’t buy from these cowboys.
Good Quality and quick delivery
Ordered some furniture boards to make a dog bed and they arrived quickly and were of great quality. Going to order some more for other projects around the house. Thank you for a great service and friendly support.
Awful dishonest service
15th July - plce order of ‘in stock’ wood panel
22nd July - heard nothing on delivery date so emailed company
24th July - told it would be delivered ’this week’
28th July - no details received so emailed company again
28th July - told the order would be delivered Monday 1st August
1st August - no delivery details provided and order not received. Attempted email (no reply), web chat (no response) and phone (answer phone full).
Update: the line about failed delivery is a blatant lie; no tracking number was provided and I was home all day, plus have a Ring doorbell. No delivery was attempted.

Poor comms
I understand that every business faces delays that are beyond their control but a six week delay needs to be managed with clear communication, not just a sliding delivery date. It is a shame that it takes a poor trustpilot review to get a response, but a response was forthcoming. Extra star. Hopefully I will be able to add more once the timber is deliveried.
Oakley boards
I have just received my order of Oakley boards. They arrived in six days from payment being taken. Delivered by very helpful and friendly driver. The boards were just as good as the picture on the website and would probably order again.
I would have given 5 stars, but I found communication with the company a little lacking, and could be improved.
