I joined the programme because I was trying to transition into a top-tier consulting firm after many months of trying on my own with limited success. I had already secured a first-round interview at McKinsey independently but did not progress further; following this disappointment I reached out to the Career Transition Program to try and pinpoint what I was doing wrong, and perhaps identify an alternative path for my career.

The strongest part of the experience was the emotional support and accountability. Job searching, especially in a difficult market, like the one we find ourselves in today, can be draining, and George and Jorn did an excellent job of keeping me optimistic, motivated, and moving forward when I felt mentally exhausted. George, in particular, was always readily available and flexible to my schedule. In many ways, they were psychological heroes during a very difficult period.

That said, I did not find the course content itself particularly revelatory. Much of the networking, outreach, coffee chat, and interview preparation advice reflected approaches I had already been using before joining. What the programme did help with was scale: their encouragement pushed me to execute more consistently and at greater volume, which ultimately gave me more “market data” and perspective.

Jorn was particularly strong in moments that mattered most. He was highly engaging ahead of interviews, structured in his guidance, and helpful in preparing me for manager-level questions. That said, I had already done extensive Tier 1 consulting case prep ahead of my McKinsey process, so my casing skills for the boutique consulting firm I ended up interviewing at were already quite strong going in.

He also offered me some degree of flexibility with respect to product offering, payment schedule and pricing, which I appreciated.

I ultimately accepted a boutique consulting role in the industry I was already in. While I am grateful for the outcome, it is important to say that this had been my “safe” or backup option even before engaging the coaches. The process did, however, help me see the role more positively, i.e., as a meaningful stepping stone rather than simply a fallback.

Overall, I think the programme provides real value in accountability, encouragement, and staying psychologically resilient during a tough search. But for me personally, especially given the cost and my prior preparation, it was not the return on investment I had hoped for.

When I first reached out to Jörn and George, my goal was to break into consulting, but my background didn’t look like the typical consulting profile. I had done several internships, taken a career break, worked a few unrelated jobs along the way, and my most recent role had very little to do with consulting.

In the end, I received an offer from a consulting company in my target geography. From the first outreach message to the final interview, the entire process took roughly 10 days. From the start, it was clear they saw me as the right fit. The company offered the maximum available salary, and in the final stage, I was the only candidate presented to the client, where typically 2 or 3 profiles are considered.

Overall, I recommend the program to those seeking structured guidance in their job search, while being clear that the value will depend on the specific Industry and companies that they are targeting, as well as the ability and willingness to leverage their existing network.

The coaching I received from Jörn, Giorgios, and their team was extremely helpful and has enabled me to get my dream offer. These are the elements that stood out for me:
