Wonderful but watch with Wisdom.

The Chosen is a wonderful series but one thing that bothers me is the fact that they keep bringing poverty into the idea. Always struggling for finances and so forth. Which is not the Christian life. We are suppose to conquer. That means the hearts of people and the world. Business and in everything. If you study the history of the Jews and those times. Carpenters were one of the top in the highest paid careers. Jesus was rich. The Romans who lived luxuriously gambled with Jesus’ robe. They wouldn’t gamble for things that are not worth it. And in this series, Jesus and His followers wore clothes that are of beggars. Because it’s “humble” to be poor. There is nothing humble about poverty. That’s why they call it the demon of poverty. It’s a captivated mindset.

Other than that. The series is wonderful!! I would recommend to anyone!

This is the most inspiring production…

This is the most inspiring production and i watched it on Prime while i fail to go to bed without seeing another episode and it is as close to the real thing.
However just a few pointers.
While Mary of Magdalena was forgiven by Jesus she then became sinless, she then followed Jesus she did not leave the sheep herd to continue the life of debauchery then return full of sin that she is again forgiven for this would mean she was not forgiven in the first place.
The power of the Holy Spirit in Jesus would have prevented any temptation to sin again.
Then there is the Mother of God, she was sinless her manner was that of Jesus the acting behaviour portraid on the production makes her look like she is worthless and carries sin, making her behave like a cocky type person, The Mother of Gods mantle is high and gracious and she must be seen in this way.
It is difficult when all others behave the same to act out a holy subject so graciously but if one is to play a role as important as this then the actress must spend time with the Mother of God in pray and she will inspire her with the grace to portray her well.

AMAZING SERIES

Brilliant! Has come at the right time when the world is in so much conflict and the future bleak. Thank you Dallas Jenkins for producing such a series in such a lighthearted but encouraging way. I can't wait for series 5. The actors are all amazing. The message is there & it's a positive one amongst all the negativity and disillusion of the world today!

Disappointing, anodyne retelling through the male gaze (comfort zone), of director Dallas Jenkins and the production team.

In 591, Pope Gregory conflated Mary Magdalene with a prostitute. In 1969 the Catholic Church apologised for the error. Eastern Orthodox Christians never depicted her as a prostitute. Modern scholars regard her as one of Jesus's most prominent disciples and apostles, she is thought to have been a woman of greater social status and authority, who accompanied Jesus, helping him and his disciples out of her own resources. Yet Dallas Jenkins, creator, co-writer and director chose to depict her as a redeemed prostitute when there is ample evidence to refute this and nothing in the bible that implies she ever was a prostitute. Mary Magdalene is thought to have been of equal status to Peter as a leader amongst the disciples. Jesus was counter-cultural. Yet Jenkins depicts her as a peripheral and 'bland' character, a redeemed prostitute who doesn't rock the boat and certainly doesn't engage in any heated discussions with the menfolk - she is everso meek, bearing little resemblance to the real character. Jesus gave his disciples nicknames, he may have given her the nick-name 'Magdalene' meaning 'The Tower' a name no less significant than his naming Peter 'The Rock'. Does historical accuracy of the portrayal of women not matter to Jenkins? The evidence supporting Mary Magdalene as a strong leader amongst the apostles is widely available yet Jenkins chose to ignore this in favour of the her portrayal as an uncontroversial, bit-part player, a repentant sinner. Other prominent women disciples/apostles that provided resources for Jesus' ministry were Joanna and Salome to mention two. Women are regarded by scholars as being instrumental to the success of Jesus' ministry. In the strictly gendered society of Jesus' day only women could engage with women. Luke's gospel refers to 72 disciples going out two by two (mixed pairs). Sadly Jenkins portrayal reveals him to be little more than a traditionalist probably a sexist with latent misogynistic sympathies and uncomfortable with women in leadership roles - (however damaging and oppressive that view might be to more than half the faith community) . His choice of portrayal is both dishonest and is likely to impact on the ongoing abuse of women, the demeaning of their personal dignity and personhood in traditional Christian settings. What a wasted opportunity to do real good. Shame.
Check out this fantastic documentary from Prof' Joan Taylor and Prof' Helen Bond for some fascinating insights. Prepare to be blown away!

Summary: Mary Magdalene was NEVER a prostitute, she was a leader, a deeply spiritual person who understood Jesus' mission best amongst the apostles. Known as the 'Apostle of the Apostles' she was tasked by Jesus to tell of his resurrection to the others.

The Chosen is definitely worth watching! 5.0 Stars! A+++ TV show!

Dallas Jenkins has been working on creating The Chosen for a few years now. The TV show is amazing! It's the first ever multi-season TV show about the life of Jesus Christ. Watch the pilot episode called The Shepherd on YouTube first. Most people cry when they watch it! It's really good! Then download The Chosen app & watch seasons 1, 2 & 3. It's called, "Binge Jesus!" There are also 2 Christmas specials from 2020 & 2021, which are fun to watch as well! They have a lot of Christmas songs in them. The 2021 Christmas Special connects to The Shepherd. It really is a high quality TV show! Great job Dallas! May God bless you, your cast, your crew & the people at your company. Keep up the good work, so we can watch all 7 seasons & The Chosen can reach billions of people around the world with the hope that Jesus Christ brings for eternal salvation!
