I wanted this specific keyboard to use with my Komplete 15 editors library, with Reason as my DAW. I thought I'd go for the S49 as, tbh, unless playing a Piano piece, I only really need the 4 octaves. I was really hanging out for the polyphonic aftertouch feature however Reason doesn't accept Polyphonic midi data it seems! So, back to Maschine 3 or Kontakt/Komplete Kontrol if I want this. I must say, currently there are very limited polyphonic presets around! I have now set it as monophonic aftertouch and left it as that. Reason does recognise this and it does open up nearly all the sounds with aftertouch. The keybed is good. My other keyboards are Korg Triton extreme and M Audio keystation 49. Honestly it's on par with these two. This is a solid piece of kit. I did have to adjust the velocity/response to my preferred style - but the fact you can easily do this is a brilliant feature. I don't like to hammer the keys... I love the light guide and that NKS sounds are now really hands on with the knobs premapped. Not messing with a mouse whilst playing really helps focus on performing. I prefer choosing sounds packs on the PC as scrolling through them takes longer but once in a specific pack, choosing a preset is better. I am a little disappointed that most of the NI library does not have polyphonic sounds but that is not the S49's fault. I am I glad I bought it? Yeah I am.
