What an amazing little gem of a place this is!
You might almost certainly drive straight past this incredible unassuming country pub if you didn't know it was there. Fortunately for us, we rented a local AirBnB and this was within walking distance, so we were a captive audience.
It's a locals place to meet, and has a super friendly and welcoming atmosphere. There's a nice range of commercial beverages and the staff are extremely energetic and keen to make sure everything is good. I know one shouldn't name names, but Harriet, Tina, and Martha were most entertaining when we popped in for an evening meal.
The Food..... oh my goodness, the food. Nearly all locally sourced within a few miles, the freshness (and goodwill to support local farmers) we really liked as a community 'thing'.
We have been twice now... once for lunch - the ploughman's is a bit designer - and a second time for our evening meal. I had the Scallops to start - I have them a lot in varying places I eat in and around London, and I'm telling you these were cooked, seasoned, presented and paired with chorizo, potato and the most incredible sauce I have ever had with Scallops.... they were incredible. then I had Stonebass on a cheese risotto, and again the chef didn't disappoint.
I've eaten at some really nice restaurants, and this food was up there in my top 5. Compliments to them: the Chef, the staff, and whoever oversees this fine place....
Look it up and go there, and Harriet, Tina and Martha will serve you with good energy and food and drinks.
