Effective self paced course for skill building
I joined the course last year and it offers well structured materials along with video lessons.The assignments help reinforce learning and keep us engaged with the content. While the course is mostly self paced and could be more interactive, it provides everything needed to learn effectively. With regular practice, it's truly a value for money course.

Some positives
Some positives, some negatives but overall a good experience. I am about halfway through the online modules. So far, it's a bit basic, but I am hopeful that the second half of the modules will be more engaging as well as more hands-on and skill-building. I do really like and appreciate the way the modules are set up - Clear structure and ease for independent use. Hard to get responses when you need to speak to someone.

Stimulating and informative
The experience was stimulating and informative. The contents/ subject areas were structured making for information being delivered in focused, meaningful chunks. I enjoyed the practical activities which reinforced learning like the measurement module as well as the assignments which required you to explore and research topics of interest. Feedback on assignments was provided in detail and comments made were always constructive. If any questions were asked re the assignments, responses were provided timeously.

The modules cover everything not only to practice the art of design, manufacture, pattern making and make-up of a garment; but the history,origination and easy techniques and tips given in the modules are informative, easy to understand and an excellent channel to perfect the art. A Dream Come True for Distance Learners
I was looking for months for a fashion programme that would work for me, and I had just about given up hope when I found the FDI.
Where I live, there aren't any fashion schools that are within my time budget and general cost, so, naturally, I went online.
There, I found a new problem. Time zones!
FDI perfectly answers all of the issues I had — they're ENTIRELY asynchronous, they're well-established, the coursework and instructors are well balanced and very conducive to a good learning environment, and it's very affordable!
I am currently in the middle of the course, and whenever I had issues, I was able to message the instructors and I got helpful advice without much wait time, which allowed me to continue on with my course, content in the fact that I could reach out if I needed help, not only to the instructors, but also there is a vibrant community of students here that can all interact for not just community, but networking and mutual support.
