Poor quality meal

The meal we had at this pub was very poor quality. Three people had the Fish and chips, chips were good the fish so thin, almost non existent with lots of batter. The scampi was very small as if half a scampi in bread crumbs. For the price I would expect better. The pub it’self is pleasant,

A nice evening at The George!

Visited early Sat eve with my two dogs. There was good live music on in the garden area. Nice atmosphere and I was fortunate to find one table that was free! The food was fresh and delicious and served in good time.
The staff were extremely helpful, especially Rob and Adam! Water was offered and brought over for my dogs. Appreciated that on a warm evening. Thank you!

Once again disappointed

Once again disappointed. We visited Sheep on sheep street Stow and had a very nice lunch with drink and coffee to finish about £45. Great value and nice food. With this in mind, beeing of the same group we thought we would give the George another try. Typically a mistake. 6 of us, chose variation of 4 meals. The restaurant was empty. The food was served and typically looked sad and as always cold. So not to spoil the afternoon we just got on with it. The George looks the part but despite many managers over the years it just cannot cut it. What on earth are the owners doing allowing this investment to suffer. Get it right and the restaurant will be full.

We have dined at the George a few times…

We have dined at the George a few times and have been disappointed but thought we would give it one more try. We had the worst Sunday roast ever. We had the trio of meat which consisted of one very small slice of beef and pork and a piece of chicken breast all were overcooked and dry, three small roast potatoes and a tablespoon of mixed vegetables and a lump of Yorkshire pudding that was inedible. We waited over half an hour to be served and the food was almost cold. We did have a side dish of cauliflower cheese which was the only thing that was hot and the highlight of the meal. This will be our final visit.

10/10 for vegan option!!

The George is a lovely venue for food/drink and they are dog friendly in bar area! It's local to us but I love that you always see new faces here (due to this also being a hotel) so it always popular. The food is seriously delicious (the Grilled Vegetable Pithivier, gets full marks and I'm not even vegan!). The staff are very accommodating and welcoming, the drink options are substantial and service is swift.

The experience of dining during covid-19 is just as pleasurable. They have fantastic procedures in place for health & saftey, social distancing is easily maintained, booking/ordering on the app etc. I am most pleased that they have maintained the lovely welcoming ambience of the venue and charming staff.

An excellent night at The George …

Spent an excellent night at The George - immaculate room, bed comfy + great to have a coffee machine. The afternoon atmosphere was 'buzzing' and felt good. The evening meal was superb - not too much so you could enjoy the full works. The un-rushed service was refreshing. Staff lovely to a fault.
Would have stayed another night but they were fully booked - so disappointed.
