Cronies Bar & Restaurant

Cronies Bar & Restaurant. Visited a restaurant in Stirling last night and wanted to share an honest review.

The location itself is lovely, a beautiful building full of character, and it definitely catches your eye from the outside. Inside, the atmosphere was nice and the place was clean and well presented.

Food wise, it was okay overall. Some dishes were enjoyable like the haggis bon bons and cranachan, and the mains were decent value and cooked well. Nothing outstanding, but certainly acceptable.

Unfortunately, the service really let the whole experience down. The staff came across as uninterested, looked miserable, and lacked any real professionalism. There was no warmth on arrival, and throughout the evening we felt more like an inconvenience than welcomed guests. Despite the restaurant not being busy, service was slow and we often had to try and get someone’s attention.

NOT DISABLED FRIENDLY, STAFF RUDE & DANGER TO LIFE

COMPLAINT
20/8/25 -24/8/25
The Golden Lion Hotel
8-10 King Street
Stirling
FK8 1DQ

Danger to our lives due to our disability whilst staying in a hotel the accessibility room was situated on the 5th floor my husband was in a mobility
scooter and cannot walk I too have
major mobility issues there's no
Access to the front of the building no
ramp we had to go to the workers
basement where there was a lift but a huge ramp was leading us up to the lift once the scooter got up the ramp the doors closed on us, the room was too
small to move around in a wheelchair let alone the electric chair, we were stuck in our room on the 5th floor when a fire alarm went off 3 times in 2
days we couldn't get out as the lift is disabled automatically when the fire alarm goes off & couldn't have got to the basement as this was our
only way of exiting the building, if there was a fire but that would involve again using the lift, on the 2nd occasion a member of the hotel staff banged our door and shouted get out, get out I
screemed we can't get out my husband is in an electric chair I continued get me some help, get your manager up here or tell the firemen to help us, he
said everyone out side, I can't help you, I have to leave, & left us. no one
came to check on us or help us out of the building it turned out that one of
the shower was faulty on the 2nd floor
the steam caused the fire alarm to
go off, after the 2nd time in one day
they moved the customers who were
part of our group to another room, but
next day re-allocated it to another
customer again the fire alarm went
off, the tour company Lawson's of
Corby Martin and Emma were beyond
there selves with worry for us, and
even offered to stay with us, on the 3rd occasion a manager came up in a high Viz came up with Emma and Martin and told us to stay in our room don't
open the door to anyone and wet some towels & put them at the base of the door, we were petrified, I Julie Logan suffer with bipolar disorder have
clinical depression & anxiety episodes, I was in tears shaking and thinking the worst, the grand field tower sprung to mind, I thought the worst, my husband Brian Logan who was in the electric chair was trying to calm me down, The meals were supposed to be 5* I couldn't eat what they served the 1st night as it looked shocking unfortunately I did eat the fish and chips on the 3rd night it was a supermarket 4 fish in a box 10 skinny burnt chips I suffered with diarrhea after eating it and spent the
whole of the next day being sick with diarrhea, and travelling home the 7 hour journey was agonising. We have never experienced anything like this before the company we went with complained to who they are contracted with, apparently the hotel The Golden Lion Took over management 3 months prior to this, they haven't registered with company house & the manager said they were renovating started at the top floor & working there way down, & that the disabled room was staying at the 5th floor, he or non of the staff didn't care, had no empathy absolute shocking experience, they don't replenish the facilities or toilet rolls bath towels, tea, coffee milk etc, hand wash, hair and body wash, the whole experience is one we will never repeat or forget,
