Well I went there this evening for one drink with a friend and brought some olives and I was charged a 10% service charge which they did not tell me about it was not on their drinks menu. I was so shocked when I rang up to check they said they would give me the 10% £2 back if I came back to the shop. I felt I was being taken for a ride.

An excellent evening demonstrating a great knowledge of wine that everyone could understand.

This event did seem a little spendy, but we were treated to some of the finest wines and foods including a glass from a £52 bottle of champagne and a red wine that had been opened 24 hours earlier to showcase it's elegant character. The wines were rare and often only available because of Mattieu's French connections. Each wine was described and well-matched to enhance the delicious food from Javier Duarte. Highlights of the latter included the divine coriander aquachili rock oyster, the piquant asparagus and spicy salmon tartare and the tender and nutty sous-vide Iberico pork with apple and Jerusalem artichokes.

When looking to spoil someone with a special gift, I turned to Matt and the team at The Grape Variety for a special hamper with Rose wine and a selection of goodies - the best quality an price anywhere in Surrey!

Since I'm already in love with The Grape Variety in Chipstead, I had to check out their new Dorking venue, and these guys have outdone themselves again: the place is beautiful, the staff knowledgeable, helfpul and friendly 👌 And if you are not that much into 🍷, well, their 🍹 are also next level. Highly recommended!

Had a pretty average experience… it was very busy when we arrived… the staff even apologised for being slow to take our order…didn’t stop them charging us service on our drinks though when the bill came which was a bit of a pisstake, Bars with a service charge for drinks only probably won’t have a very long life outside of London, won’t be back

The team really know (and love) their wines. The enthusiasm really shines through and they offer an excellent service

Really great wine, very excited to find this Albariño online. Had tasted it in restaurant in London new it would be good.
Only issue was the cost of delivery, thank goodness for black Friday discount etc.

As always, Matt responded promptly to our on line order, suggested an excellent alternative to an out of stock item and delivered our order cheerfully and courteously. Merry Christmas to The Grape Variety!

Great service as always from the Grape Variety. One of the bottles I ordered was no longer in stock so Matt provided a more expensive bottle at no extra cost. Couldn’t recommend more highly and great to be able to support a successful local business.

Christmas Wine Tasting Event
Excellent wine tasting event hosted by Matthieu. Eclectic wines, great food pairings and just the right amount of expert guidance from the host in a relaxed & friendly setting. At least 3 of the 6 wines tasted will make it onto our Xmas shopping list. Thanks!

The Grape Variety's selection and service is outstanding. Each time I have ordered from them the delivery has been within a day. When, occasionally, they are out of stock of a wine I ordered I always receive a phone call with suggested substitutions. I highly recommend The Grape Variety!
