Terrible product and awful customer service

When my joiner (who has 32 years experience in his craft) came to fit the handle on my cupboard the screw snapped inside the casing. I sent a photo to TheHandleStudio asking them to please send me out a replacement and got, as many others have acknowledged on here, a very passive aggressive reply from Jan Bevan blaming my fitter for the broken handle as it couldn't possibly be the handle itself.

They tried to say he must have used a mechanical screwdriver and this is how the screw broke, but when I replied telling them he is a very experienced joiner and used a manual screwdriver they changed their response to the fact that it was still user error, mechanical screwdriver or not!

My joiner has previously fitted 2 other handles on another cupboard with no issues whatsoever so I know for a fact that the issue was with the handle and not with the fitter.

I've taken advice on this and lodged a formal complaint and am taking this up with the consumer ombudsman as this complaint has been well documented in writing and their poor customer service is plain to see. Beware of buying from this company, they seem to have no regard for customer service whatsoever. Know your consumer rights - according to the Consumer Rights act 2015. This is the actual advice I was given by a professional agency: "Don't be fobbed off! Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 it is the responsibility of The Handle Studio to put the situation right. Don't let them tell you they can't help as you're out of warranty or blame the manufacturer."

Spurious delivery information.... READ SMALL PRINT

Ordered some kitchen Handels based on the 1-2 day delivery slot.
Apparently in the small print in the T & C's which you tick after reading, it says thats from dispatch.

The order acknowledgement i received states Premium delivery 1-2 days.

Order went through Sunday afternoon. They said they should recieve them on thursday and then 1-2 days to dispatch them.

Therefore 1-2 days delivery is more like a week.

They Should change the way the delivery times are presented and displayed.

I've had to cancel my order and source from elsewhere.

Customer service rather patronising aswell, wont be using again i'm afraid.

Positive and negative feedback given to assist others, see my other open and frank reviews.

Dear Chris,

Thank you for calling us this morning regarding the status of your order, You placed your order on Sunday (18-2-2024) which meant it would not have been seen by us until Monday morning as we don’t operate on a Sunday.

Due to us having multiple orders for the same product over the weekend, we operate on a first come first served basis, so we couldn't fulfil your order due to stock, so more stock was ordered from our supplier. Confirmation from our supplier stated that it would be dispatched today (20-2-2024), for receipt by us on Wednesday (21-2-2024). As soon as the stock comes in, your order would have been prioritised and dispatched straight away and you would have received it on Thursday ( Not dispatched on Thursday, as in your review) via our DPD courier. This was explained to you on the telephone.

Our Terms and Conditions and a separate delivery page are there for the customer to see our delivery times. When a customer ticks the box that they have understood the Terms & Conditions, it is presumed that they have read either both or at least one of these pages and are happy to proceed with their order. As the delivery is 1-2 days after dispatch and not from order date, you would have had your order in this time line.

If these handles were needed urgently, then you could have telephoned, live chat or emailed us to see when your order would have been dispatched. There is also a lot more information on these pages to help the customer.

We don't like to disappoint any customer, but looking at your other reviews you have left for other companies, this looks like this would have been a challenge for us. All monies have now been refunded back to your payment method used on this order.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service: Handle with Caution!!!

Additional note: the reply from the handle studio clearly demonstrates their rather rude and snide approach. Avoid.

I ordered wardrobe knobs from The Handle Studio, but didn't receive my full order. I got a passive aggressive reply back about how it couldn't be their mistake, and they found mistakes nearly always to be the fault of the customer. They refused to help recify the problem. I wouldn't recommend this company. The knobs themselves, like other reviews have said, didn't match the description. Handle with caution with The Handle Studio.

Following the reply from The Handle Studio, I would like to add, hopefully you can see from their reply, they are accusatory, and aggressive. They didn't supply the full order and will not take responsibility for it. It's not a lot of money, but the principle of them not wanting to help a customer.

The reply you would have received is detailed in how we process every order, All orders are treated in the same manner, every order is picked and packed individually, and the order would have been weighed before any type of packing would have started. This weight is then recorded, hand written on the top of the sales order along with a pull off label with your details, and a record of this weight is kept for our internal records.

These figures would have been on the said email with the explanation of our process, in your case your was recreated and was found that 14no knobs which you ordered was picked and packed correctly. If this was found that we had only sent you 13no then we have no issues at all in sending you the extra one, but in this instance this wasn't the case. This is why we have this process in place, this process has also been approved by our local trading standards office.

You haven't explained in what aspect that the knobs didn't match the description, the description on this product matches perfectly, all the dimensions, what size screws and a photo of the knob you received, So your statement is very misleading and untrue, Looking at your review history this seems to be the case with a lot of business you have purchased from.

As you will appreciate we are a business and are unable to provide 'FREE' products, for example, if a customer has misplaced, under ordered or damaged any products they purchase from us.

Great service and helpful staff

I cannot fault the staff and the service here. They gave me plenty of helpful advice regarding the door handles I needed as there was so much choice. I placed the order which arrived quickly. I would definitely
recommend them.

Excellent customer service

I find the customer service here excellent. I needed a replacement screw and knob which ordered and happy to pay for. I wrote on the order that the screw was no longer gripping the knob and it was less than a year of installing . I got a call the same day to refund my payment and replacement sent free of charge . Excellent standards

The Handle Studio

The company would not supply the correct or replace the screws supplied with our order. The screws in question were not fit for purpose.

When I called the office to discuss the matter the lady had no emotional empathy and was eventually rude when challenged.

They were really happy to charge us more money and send out the correct screws.

I would not recommend this company. The fully do not deserve their 3.9 score on Trust Pilot.

We welcome all types of reviews, but in this instance is unjustified and totally misleading to fellow readers.

We think you might be a bit confused here, the order your wife placed online would have included 25mm in length screws, this length of screw is a standard size which is supplied with every cabinet handle and knob we do and are fit for purpose.

On each and every product page of of our website, in the clearly visible product information it will say what length and quantity that will come with each product. So we guess in your case that you have gone to install these and then realized you don't have the correct length screw for your cupboards as they must be thicker than standard, So please explain how our company would know what size screw you would need?

All the information you need is on our website, if customers fail to read this information, The Handle Studio cannot and will not be held responsible for this.

Jan, the lady you spoke to on the telephone was courteous and explained everything to you. We are unable to call every single customer to find out what length screw is needed as you implied we needed to do.

Disappointing customer service

Disappointing customer service. My husband and I were delighted with one of the products we had ordered but another product that was described as having the same finish did not and therefore was a poor match.
I contacted The Handle Studio, asked for an exchange and said we would not expect to have to pay postage/return charges.
I was advised that items described as having the same finish may vary. I was guided to a different item that I was advised would be a better match and that it showed on their website as a 'related product.'
I checked after my call and this was incorrect - it was not shown as a related product. There was nothing to match these two products.
I contacted the company again and was sent a link to their T&Cs - scroll down near the bottom and it reads that certain finishes may vary from their description.
Why would a customer be expected to read all these when placing an order unless they had a specific concerns?
We would be very wary about using this company again.

Jan had explained on the phone yesterday morning we don’t offer exchanges, but you were quite welcome to return the cup handle that you were not happy with. You proceeded to say that you should not have to pay a return postage cost or indeed the postage for a new handle as the one you have is faulty as it does not match the knob. Jan's response to you was that the handle would not be deemed faulty if the customer is not happy with the finish.
With regards to our discussion about related products. You were directed to the product page of the cup handle you had purchased and informed that on that product the only knobs that would match it were under the related product section.
The knobs you had purchased and were very happy with do not have a cup handle that goes with it exactly, so Jan offered to go into our showroom to look at our range and give you the best option. Although not an exact match it would be the closest, we have for that knob. Hence why it is not listed as a ‘related product.’
Pewter effect is a finish that does have variations within it, as does our American Bronze range. We state under ‘Finishes’ on the FAQs page that both these finishes are subject to variations and to contact us to discuss your requirements so we can advise our customers with the products that best match.
We do also a sample service where you could have purchased 1 or more products to view and decide which ones you would have been happy with, which a lot of our customer do if they are not sure.
The review you have left is very unfair as your interpretation of our conversation is contrary to what was discussed.

Almost perfect. Great range, fast delivery, well presented and allow for samples to be sent and returned easily.

Only improvement would be the inclusion of live stock levels so that you can limit your view to the handles that can be supplied in sufficient number for your project.

Unclimate friendly attitude towards returns

Ordered a sample handle, which looked good, however ultimately decided not to use. I appreciate that as it took a while to decide, I was outside of return window, but The Handle Studio did not even consider even a partial refund, not even offered to just pay postage for the refund so they can resell, so my handle will now go to waste (I will try but doubt I'll be able to find a new home for this single handle), which I think is not a climate friendly way of doing business, and I think this alone merits the one star.

With sample orders, we understand that the customer might not be able to make a decision straight away, if you would have let us know within 14 days that you were going to return the item, then you would have had a full order refund including the paid postage, outside the 14 days up until 28 days you could still return this but wouldn't have had your postage refunded.
After the 28 days then you could still return the item but there would be restocking charges applied to any refund due which if this was the case then you would have been notified about our returns process.
You haven't given us an order number for us to check when you actually placed the order to see the time frame in which you wish to return the item, but if this is longer than 12 months then we wouldn't normally except this back, but each and every return is different.
As a business we do care about the climate and approach the way we do business in a responsible way, We also invest in energy efficient systems and process where possible.
The Handle Studio can't be held responsible for the customer returning their items outside the said time frames in which the customer agrees to our terms and conditions when placing their order.
So we think that your character assassination of The Handle Studio is totally unjustified and after reading your previous review regarding a different company this type of review seems to be becoming a habit.

Absolutely great customer service

Absolutely great customer service. I was unsure what size knobs to order for my kitchen. I phoned up and the lady who helped me was really helpful, advising me on size and finish.

My order of samples came really quickly and well packaged. I shipped back the ones I didn't want and got my refund back really quickly. I then placed my main order for the handles I had chosen.

I've used them twice now - once for kitchen handles and once for bathroom handles. They have a great range of handles online.

The only slight improvement that they could make would be to display pictures of the handles in situ on a cabinet door. When I received my sample handles it was immediately obvious that I didn't like some of them. If I'd seen the handle in situ on a cabinet door I could have got a much better idea of the relative size of the handle and how it would look. This would have saved me ordering quite so many samples. A small detail though!

Fantastic selection and great service

Fantastic selection and very easy to order samples. I ordered them, they arrived swiftly, I could choose which I wanted to keep and was easily able to get the refund code to send the rest back. The refund was then processed within three days of my having posted the box back. Can't fault them - really happy with my handles and the service :)

Handles and nobs arrived the day after I ordered them, excellent quality, very pleased that they were well packed individually as failure to do this would have resulted in possible scratches and dents to the metal.

They send you the wrong qty.

I bought 20 of an item and 16 of another item. I informed after 2 days of receiving the goods. I reported ONE missing. They refused my claim on their impeccable process based on item weight etc. Well how do you know if what they weigh is true when they arrive to you? Furthermore Are you supposed to weigh the package? One knob in a box you would need a precision scale at home! I understood if it was 3/4 or more missing. Bad customer service and a lot to learn!

….and as you can see by the response seller is right and the customer of course is wrong! Especially given that we are supposed to trust their system. The more concerning issue is that it keeps happening with other customers but of course in this trader eyes the Seller is always right! Excellent long term strategy!

We have processes in place when every order gets picked and packed to stop any discrepancies on our side as well as the customers. We weigh every order before and after it gets packed for dispatch and these figures are recorded for future use.
Your order would have been recreated to determine the weight before any packing has taken place and we have found that at the time of packing and also the total weight recorded with our courier, We also do a stock check to be sure that all is correct before contacting the customer. Your order was correct so we can only assume that this missing item is on your side.
We have first-class customer service as you will see with the reviews we have, but in your case, you haven't had the result you wanted hence the 1-star review when the facts have been presented to you.
